Greetings from sunny Dolphin Cove!
Panitath allows Loseth to help dig a nest and lays a very good clutch of thirty-nine eggs. Once the eggs are hard, the Candidates are allowed in to touch them. Although they're eager for more time, the Senior Queen's patience is limited.
N'vanik welcomes the new Weyrwoman's Second and they discuss some of her ideas for improving relations with the holders. Cirina helps wash Jossenth and chats with her rider. E'tariax introduces himself to Nidre and brings wine.
Cyradis asks Lorican for a special commission. She has plans to make N'vanik a gift.
C'pier hands over the marks he's earned to Sh'del, to be passed on to Saedyna. The Weyrlingmaster Second is worried for the young man and gives him some time off. The day the rest of the Weyrling class graduates, R'lor makes C'pier attend and they discuss his future. C'pier has also been seeing a mindhealer and they talk about his issues.
Vytian meets with R'lor and tries to find something that will give him an advantage for Impression. Vytian also meets Saedyna.
Alina and T'lin go on a trip to see a lunar eclipse and they discuss friendship and the wonders of nature.
Sh'del checks in on his friend N'vanik. After Cyradis's weyrmate leaves her, Sh'del comes to check on her.
Gil's ex-wife comes to see him while he's imprisoned in the seaside weyr. After turns apart, they're finally able to clear the air and part on good terms.
R'lor is very touched when young rider R'ayl gives him the scarf he made. After R'lor is promoted to Weyrlingmaster, R'ayl is one of the first people he tells the good new to and they discuss how rank and dragon color aren't as rigid as some people think.
After his promotion, R'lor worries Sh'del might have issues with a bluerider being made Weyrlingmaster instead of him. After avoiding the brownrider for a while, they finally talk and R'lor learns his fears are unfounded. After Trouble makes a mess in R'lor's office, Kularth is angry and Loranth tries to make peace.
Dryvan realizes his actions led to the watchrider murder at Emerald Falls and wavers between guilt and dedication.
Obrosin has a meeting with Weyrlingmaster R'lor. Cirina is eager to share weyr gossip with the new Candidate. In the dining hall, Obrosin is bothered by Rilfayne's open shirt.
Ocaridyn meets M'trel via klah delivery. Later, he runs into M'trel again and asks about dragon eye colors. M'trel chats with S'kand about leadership.
While bagging firestone, Oriene finally gets the details about what happened to Saedyna and they talk about how unfair it is that C'pier Impressed.
Wingsecond Z'ku points out some issues with new wingrider Reyela. She's got her eye on him as well, for a very different reason!
Iskara and Cosani head to a Gather and play a little game with some holder men.
Shortly before the Hatching, the senior Weyrlingstaff discuss the Candidates and whether they're fit to Stand. Cirina, Tirraze, and Saedyna also chat about the upcoming Hatching and decide they'd rather be greenriders than goldriders.
With time running out for Lafael, Jaylene takes him to Dolphin Cove for one last chance at Impression.
The Hatching was very eventful, though there were no attacks this time -- at least not deliberately. Vytian was mauled when he got in the way of a bronze hatchling and he also injured Blue when he fell on the young man. Obrosin was injured by his own dragon when the brown thought another hatchling might take his chosen rider. Another surprise was blue Riamorth choosing Tirraze, making her the second female bluerider. What does this mean?
Ocaridyn Impresses blue Genireth and realizes he'll need to pick a new name. Saedyna is shocked when green Avarith chooses her. Since she paid for a fake Search, she thought she would never Impress. Naradis is overcome when she Impresses green Maylith. Finally, she's become a rider!
