Blue vents his feelings about Ç'pier to his friend Corland, and Corland realizes Blue is deaf. He promises not to tell and asks Blue to teach him how to sign. When Saedyna goes to Blue to let him know she doesn't blame him for what happened with Ç'pier, she inadvertently gets Blue and Corland to admit their feelings for each other.
Cyradis and B'nell muse on why dragons make the choices they do while searching through records for another female bluerider. N'vanik brings a stack of hides to M'trel and they discuss work. A'kades proposes a Weyr Games at Emerald Falls Hold. N'vanik takes some convincing, but eventually agrees to let his Weyrsecond start making plans.
A former Lady Holder appeals to the Weyrleaders for a chance to start over at Dolphin Cove. They agree and she takes the new name Zelah.
N'vanik seeks out Cyradis to discuss what they should do with the troublemaker Terren now that he's been dragged back to the Weyr.
Ryvankal is left Standing and considers if he should go home or try again.
R'lor has a long discussion with Ç'pier and finally gets the weyrling to agree to /between/ without trying to hurt himself. Ç'pier delivers a mysterious box to Nidre and she asks how he's doing.
Reyela and Brandith practice their dragonhealing skills with Y'gel's supervision, and the young green pair does well.
Panitath's previous clutch graduates, and while Reyela is happy with her placement, L'saz sulks about being in the Queen's Wing.
Cyradis is heartbroken when her weyrmate K'deren decides to leave. K'don, though, promises to stay, worried Cyradis won't love him anymore if he ever does leave.
Now that he's Weyrlingmaster, R'lor needs to find a replacement for himself, so interviews J'lor to fill the 'Third position. A mindhealer will be a great asset on the Weyrlingstaff.
Lots of new Candidates are arriving! Ryvankal meets several other Candidates in the barracks his first day at Dolphin Cove. Dryvan comes to Dolphin Cove as ordered and meets with T'lin, the rider who Searched him. Obrosin is another new Candidate, who seems a bit more clueless than usual about weyr life. He gets some help after class from Cirina and Corland.
