Reports for Dolphin Cove Weyr

November 27th 2008

Big changes in Dolphin Cove!

With J'darin injured and unable to fly, and Nyith due to rise soon, Weyrwoman Traelyn made the decision to throw open her Queen's Flight. She was hoping that one bronzerider in particular would take the challenge, but unfortunately, U'kaiah had other ideas for his future.
He will be Weyrleader at Dragonsfall, nor not at all, and even Traelyn couldn't convince him otherwise.

For N'vanik, however, the chance to win Traelyn's Flight was a risk worth taking. Convinced that his chances to win were slim -- Loseth had never flown a gold, after all -- he and Loseth joined the other ambitious pairs when Dolphin Cove's Queen took to the skies. The Flight was long and high, and when Nyith finally made her choice, Loseth claimed his first gold.

N'vanik was more than a little unnerved when he woke to find himself Weyrleader. Traelyn managed to calm him down, and she's been a great help to him as he tries to settle in to his new position. His first act as Weyrleader was to reverse the rule that put fifteen turn old riders into the Wings. While a few of the young riders make the bold
choice to stay with their Wings, others are relieved that they will have a little more time to prepare.

And N'vanik gets a huge relief when there are no deaths during his first time leading Fall. J'darin comes to congratulate him the next day, but the conversation doesn't stay pleasant. J'darin is convinced his choice to put fifteen turn old riders into the Wings was necessary
for the good of the Weyr, and N'vanik is sure that his decision was wrong.

J'darin's good friend Zelle comes to visit him while he's stuck in the infirmary, and she brings up the idea that he should be the Weyrlingmaster. She also has a pleasant chat with Yarra, a healer new to the Weyr. K'hetah has issues with a wingrider who is continually late. He also wonders over some mysterious hidework and his mind drifts to thoughts of Zelle.

Traelyn, still hurting from U'kaiah's refusal to Chase, turns to B'ram for comfort. She decides they should take their relationship public, which B'ram is thrilled about. No more slinking around for this couple, and the Weyr is abuzz with gossip. Gossip which makes its way to the ears of a certain rider at Dragonsfall ...

I'lan and Sh'dori enjoy a dragonpoker game and do a little gossiping of their own. O'rian makes a request to G'len that he spend some time aiding the riders before and after Threadfall a few times, rather than spending his 'Fall days assisting the healers. G'len had a very interesting introduction to the new Weyrleader - Loseth flew his
green, and N'vanik wasn't bothered in the least when he woke next to a male rider. While chatting with Ylisahn, G'len brings up that he needs to find a vintner so he can get in to the Turn's End celebration at the Tavern.

B'vin gets scored, and he and D'ren later share a depressing
conversation over their meal. Terainel looks into crafting. D'wol dreams of senior Weyrlinghood and a certain goldrider.

Dolphin Cove's Weyrleaders have a rather unpleasant time at
Dragonsfall's Hatching. N'vanik's daughter doesn't Impress, and he convinces her to come to Dolphin Cove to stand for Loseth's clutch. At the feast, N'vanik and U'kaiah exchange unpleasant words, again. The rift between U'kaiah and Traelyn widens when he learns that she's in love with B'ram, and she doesn't get the jealous reaction she'd hoped
for.

Late in the month, Nyith lays a fine Clutch of forty eggs on Dolphin Cove's Sands. And there's a big surprise ... a queen egg! It's Nyith's first, and Traelyn and N'vanik are thrilled. It's a wonderful event for them and for the Weyr. The future is looking bright Dolphin Cove!

Oh, and did I mention there's a GOLD EGG on the Sands? Well, I'm saying it again! Dolphin Cove needs Candidates, riders, personas of all kinds! I would love to have a Wingthird for N'vanik's Wing. You KNOW that could be fun!
