It has been a rough month at Dolphin Cove. I'ster,s young wingrider - just 15 turns - and his brown Tynnath were killed in Threadfall. As a result, J'darin drunk himself into a stupor with Zelle, the greenrider messenger from Far Island, and missed a meeting with K'hetah. K'deren and K'hetah deal with the results of this since J'darin is unable to contain his grief, and fights with it all month.
I'ster's closest friends consisted of D'ren, D'cal, Dysali, and a few of the other younger riders. D'ren feels like I'ster's death is his fault and has been distancing himself from everyone, including his love, Dysali.
Unsure how to respond to this, Dysali adopts the canine given to B'vin and tries to use the canine to cheer up D'ren. It backfires miserably. Their relationship worsens when I'lan's bronze Naath Flies Dysali's green Lillyth, and for once, Dysali and D'ren do not meet each other after the Flight. Dysali stays with I'lan and D'ren stays with the woman he found to ease his Flight lust.
In other parts of the Weyr, the Weyrwoman faces up to the two men in her life. U'kaiah, Traelyn's bronzerider lover from Dragonsfall shows up unexpectedly after the Clutching of his dragon's children, and interrupts Traelyn and B'ram's evening.
AFter some vicious words were exchanged between B'ram and Trae, Traelyn leaves to follow after U'kaiah and spends the evening in Dragonsfall with him.
A few days later, B'ram and Traelyn have another fight ending in Traelyn telling the brownrider that she chooses U'kaiah.
Only time will tell if that declaration will stick.
Eleada has troubles of her own with B'ram, and wonders if she will ever find complete happiness with a man.
In the midst of the romantic trials, J'darin accepts the transfer of greenrider Zelle, who has a long history with Wingleader K'hetah, and who, oddly, has developed a fondness for J'darin. J'darin struggles with his burgeoning feelings for the greenrider as compared to his love for his harper, Maurgen.
Toward the end of the month, J'darin and Hasaarth are injured badly in Threadfall, and are grounded for a month.
