Reports for Dolphin Cove Weyr

February 28th 2009

We've had a busy month, as usual. Two big celebrations close together - a Hatching and Turnover - meant there was plenty of time for chatting, dancing, and drama. Meledei ran into plenty of people at the Hatching feast, including T'marek, G'len, Cosani, the Weyrleaders, and F'gol. F'gol himself grapples with the sudden change in his life, sure that his dreams of being a harper are gone. He has an argument with his friend, and gets into a fight with a jealous young man when he goes back to the apprentice barracks to get his things. The Weyrlingmaster Third makes it very clear to him that fighting is not allowed, as it endangers his dragon.

G'len also makes sure Ri'len and Sorsha are aware of another restriction, the ban on physical relationships. But the two discover that a little kissing seems to be no problem, and wonder if they might be able to do more.

Speaking of relationships, Zelle is still batting zero when it comes to K'hetah, despite his dragon flying hers. She's doing better with J'darin, dragging the drunken bronzerider out to a party for Turn's End.

Traelyn has a heart-wrenching meeting with U'kaiah, who came to see the Hatching. Is this really the end for them? She puts a damper on N'vanik's night by telling him her plans after the feast are with someone else. The tension between them continues, and they have a fight which leaves both of them bitter. Her relationship with B'ram seems to be going better. She spent the evening of the Hatching with him, and Turn's End. But she's just made a slip up that might cost her.

The Weyrleader was determined to have a good time at Turn's End, and he did. He danced with Talryne at the celebration, and then arranged for a private concert in his weyr.

On a sad note, Z'al's weyrmate lost their unborn child, and he is understandably distracted during drills. Eleada is having troubles as well. Her nightmares still plague her, and memories haunt her.

The continuing call for transfers brings interesting people to Dolphin Cove. Some, like E'ziah and Varija, N'vanik gets along with. Others, like G'van, bring out the Weyrleader's temper. And we will soon have a new Weyrharper! R'haran has decided to transfer, so his adopted children can live near the ocean.

And that's not even half of what's going on at Dolphin Cove!
