It seems Amber Hills has been going through a rash of bad luck! As if
the tithe train being stolen last month, it seems that more trouble is
looming on the horizon...
The guard Corran brought to Zathris' attention the fact that there had
been a rather brazen theft from the stables. What made it all the more
perplexing was the fact that it seemed to be stoled right from under
everyone's noses. You'd think an entire set of riding tack would be
hard to haul away unnoticed, and yet no one heard or saw a thing. The
perpetrator would have had to have known the guard schedules well to
pull something like that off. Just what is going on at Amber Hills?
It seems the Lord Holder has finally come to the end of his rope. He
has been struggling to maintain his position for turns, despite the fact
that he has been struggling with small strokes for turns. After yet
another 'episode', Zelanka, at Shadux's request, comes to Benaroy in the
hopes of convincing him to name his heir. Benaroy is realizing the pain
he is putting the Headwoman through as they both wait for the
inevitable. He remembers a moment in their past when he would have done
anything to ease her burden, and makes a fateful decision. Rather than
continue to pull her along through more agonizing months, it seems
Benaroy is through fighting. He has decided to stop taking his
medication and has accepted his fate.
The one bright spot, however, is the fact that Shadux and Mariss
miraculously have seemed that the agree on something! Shadux was quite
impressed with the book Mariss leant him and has offered to lend him
one of his favorites as well. Could this be the start of an actual
friendship? Probably not, as at the end of their conversation she
revealed that she had been doing his job while he was laid up with a
broken rib. Shadux is definitely not happy about having a woman take
his place. He certainly won't be taking that laying down, broken rib or
not!
Keep your eyes and hears open... I have a feeling a change will be
coming to the Hold soon... Why not jump on board and join the fun!
