"I'm a tellin' ya', things be hoppin' here at Amber Hills. Tha lady, she's broke, didnae want ta even open the drapes. Acts more like a frightened child than a grown woman. Makes me wonder what that man did ta her." The old auntie shakes her head. "She's so messed up, wouldnae even let that healer Chupsin touch her ta make sure she wasnae hurt. There be mindhealers, two o' them, both female that tha Lord's gotten fer her. Shows how much he loves her, it does. Course, he's friends wit' that lady in waitin' and I cannae help but wonder, be there more to it than friendship? Asked her where ta get firelizards, which I guess is innocent, but they done kiss, whatchya wanna bet. Been meetin' in a special place. She even seems ta calm him when he's angry. Oh, and she dreamed bout him, then went ta try and quit, guess she was too hot and bothered. Guess we'll see what happens, aye? At least she's been takin' good care o' tha Lady, tryin' ta coax her out of whatever dark place she's retreated to. Slow goin' though, since I done heard the lady won't even let her own husband touch her! She seems ta be makin' progress though - slowly but surely.
"Speakin' o' ladies in waitin', that Barenziah had a secret of her own. Seems she was practising self defense with her brother. But our Lord took it all in stride. Seems he had no problem with a woman doin' such things. He even encouraged it, went ta Karhal ta talk ta him 'bout trainin' tha other ladies in waitin'. Mebbe he'll have tha Lady learn next! Mebbe she'll be able ta protect herself better. oh, and Karhal found that Crolarin harper fella - in pieces. At least tha lady can rest easier now.
"There be other things happenin' too. Back at Green Valley Hold, his niece, Arippa, had her husband taken, much like tha lady was taken. Seems Zathris is intent on keepin all his family safe. He offered firelizards and specially trained canines ta help protect them.
"In tha midst o' all this they had a Conclave meetin' at Amber Hills. Seems Lord Morin was found dead and tha conclave elected Bryvin as next Lord since there was no heir and he was related. Tha stipulation was that he marry another Lord's daughter - though Zathris wasnae too happy 'bout that.
"Some happier things have been happenin' too. Royan had some people over fer dinner, particulary that young holder fella, Demir. Royan seems intent on gettin' his girls married, and Demir seemed ta pay close attention ta Faldrimme. Mayhap he's interested in courtin' her? It wouldnae surprise me.
"Master Kobias made a trip ta Amber Hills and was impressed by a certain Barenziah. Was that enough to catch his eye? Or be she too enamoured with our Lord? Only time will tell.
"Well now get on with ya, child. That's all I have fer today, but you come back next time and mebbe I'll have some more tidbits fer ye." The auntie cackles and peers, her beady eyes alight with mischief.
