O'rian catches up with Meledei to congratulate her on her first jump /between/. Meledei is a bit concerned that Elleth doesn't seem to be as large as she should be. She discuses it with T'kob, but with the little queen otherwise perfectly healthy, there's no cause for alarm. F'gol and Meledei discuss their different training, now that some of the weyrlings' classes are separated by color. E'ron and F'gol grumble about the early morning drills their wing has to perform. The bronze weyrlings get some time with the Weyrleader to discuss leadership qualities.
T'kob and Kh'etah discuss fishing, and Loeth's love of the sea. K'hetah checks up on Zelle, who is still in the infirmary. She's a little more mobile now, getting out of bed to do physical therapy. N'vanik goes to see her as well, and discusses throwing an infirmary party to cheer up the patients. Zelle gets a third visitor, Eleada, who shares some interesting ideas with her.
Talryne finally finds out what's been bothering N'vanik, and she fears it might be enough to drive him away. Feeling guilty about hurting her and still dealing with his own pain, N'vanik reaches for the alcohol.
The weyrling class has sadly lost two pairs during /between/ training, one on the very first day. Adari gave her dragon conflicting images just as they were about to jump, and they never came back. The pair was in Z'ku's wing, and Ylisahn finds the young man crying on the beach. He feels in some way responsible for the death. Sorsha and Ri'len have moved in together, but all is not well. Sorsha is still afraid that she might hurt her dragon and that makes her reluctant to be physical with Ri'len. Ri'len is doing his best to be patient, but how much longer can this go on? Cosani admits to Meledei that she has no sexual experience, and Cosani also fears that a man will somehow gain possession of her if they are intimate. Meledei agrees to find her friend someone who will help her, no strings attached.
