Writer: AL

Relea

Name: Relea
Age: 25
Birthday: m6 d12
Rank: Hold Resident
Location: Green Valley Hold

Physical Description of Persona:
Golden hair cascades in waves to just past her shoulders. It's generally at least pulled back off of her face with various clips that often sport jewels. A sweet, heart shaped face and large, dark blue eyes add an air of sweet innocence to a figure that's just above average in height. Slender fingers and long legs are lovely accents to her curves. Her lips are full and naturally rosy as are her cheeks set against flawless, ivory skin.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Relea prefers to seek out the joy of life. While she is not immune to sorrows of life, she will do her best to look on the bright side of things if she can. She loves to smile and laugh, though the sound of that laughter has caught many a person off guard. She is observant of everything around her and will often notice details that others usually miss. She is quite empathic as well, emotions easily caught, perhaps as a result of studying others and watching them closely. When people give her the chance, she enjoys spending time with others.

History of Persona:
Relea was born at Green Valley hold and is the youngest out of six children, and only one of two who remain living. Her father was a Master Jeweler, quite good at his craft and quite good at haggling over prices. He was shrewd and cunning, and this he passed along to his eldest and only living son, Leaton. She, herself, was of a second marriage and the only child conceived by her mother.

When Relea was an infant, she lost her hearing thanks to an illness. As she grew up, communication was done through various signals and carefully watching people's lips while they talked. When she was four, a traveling harper came to stay at Green Valley. The man knew a system of speech that was unlike anything Relea had ever seen and he taught it to her. The signals she used to communicate with her family and friends were replaced with more refined motions. Her mother took an interest and learned, though neither her father nor her brother cared to put much effort into it beyond a few common phrases and words. Two of her closest friends also learned which made things easier for her to communicate.

When Relea was eleven, her mother took ill and passed away. At thirteen, her father suffered a heart attack and died a week later. This left Relea in the care of her elder brother. He had, by then, met and married a woman by the name of Joseli who Relea had immediately taken a shine too. The woman had taken the time, like her mother, to learn Relea's special language. This made it much easier for the girl when her parents passed away and she took a place in her brother's household.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck the girl's life once again. A turn later, Joseli, while halfway through her pregnancy, suddenly began to have severe headaches and dizziness. A few days later, she suffered several seizures. A sevenday later, she fell into a coma and finally, after a month, Joseli and her unborn child died.

Relea was thrust into the position that her sister had previously held. Taught well by both her mother and her sister in law, she kept a keen house. It was also during this time she began to work with hats as a way to distract her and do something creative. While her sewing skills were quite good, she had a particularly affinity for creating head wear. It helped distract her from her grief.

When she turned fifteen, Leaton immediately began to seek out marriage for his sister. Alas, her deafness turned off many a man and Leaton was stuck with a sister. During various trips that combined his business with the business of finding a husband, Relea accompanied her brother on various excursions that utilized the Riverboat. It was there she met Nico, a handsome man who was kind and seemed genuinely interested in learning about her - and how to speak her language. At port and on the boat, the two would spend time together as much as possible. When Leaton found out, he threatened Nico. While Nico was willing to ignore Leaton, Relea was afraid of what her brother might do, so she told Nico that she was no longer interested and to no longer seek her out.

Further attempts to find her a husband failed and finally Leaton decided to go to the Holder. Unfortunately, before he had the chance, Namiren died. When Reven was finally named as Heir, Leaton sought out the council of the new Holder of Green Valley. Reven took Relea's situation to heart and actually introduced her to his brother. Coran became fascinated with her and her language and the two struck up a friendship which ended in an elopement. Now the two are married and attempting to navigate the ups and downs of life together.
