Persona Profile: H'stre

Writer: Halyonix

Name: H'stre
Pronunciation: Huh-ster
Age: 41
Birthday: m11 d10
Rank: Weyrsecond
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Craft: Healer
Craft Rank: Junior Journeyman
Face Claim: Sam Ryder

Physical Description of Persona:
Standing at a lanky 5’10, H’stre is hard to miss in a crowd, mostly due to his long, reddish blonde hair and beaming smile. His hair is kept in a braid or bun when he’s working but unbound otherwise. Warm brown eyes, a dragonrider’s trim body, and hands tanned and stained with redwort aid in giving H’stre an impression of grounded sunlight. He still moves with the agility and exuberance of youth. He’ll go the entire hot season without shoes because he loves the feel of the earth. He usually speaks in a quiet tenor but get him drunk and he’ll break out into bright, booming song. His left shoulder is scarred from Threadfall.

Emotional Description of Persona:
H’stre is a multifaceted sort of man. It seems he has interests and knowledge in just about everything. He enjoys being underestimated like that -- he fits in some stereotypical boxes and breaks the mold on others. This is a man who is still viewing life through the child’s question of “why?” He enjoys adventures large or small. Trying new foods is a favorite thing of his. H’stre will boast that he’s probably the most interesting friend in the group.

At the foundation of all of this though is a deep knowledge of self: H’stre must constantly be learning, growing, doing, else he gets bored and stagnates. And when he falls into the latter, he becomes destructive to himself and relationships. He’ll drink too much, he’ll fight with lovers, etc. So he keeps himself engaged mentally and physically because he knows he’s happier with friends and family and doesn’t want to lose that. He is a bleeding heart empath and has a problem handling interpersonal conflict without getting walked on.

History of Persona:
Born at Far Island, Halustre spent his childhood Turns asking a lot of questions about everything. Mostly about dragons, like many a weyrbrat, but also what made the sky blue, why was Red Star red, that sort of stuff. This infinite curiosity was combined with a fathomless desire to explore. More than once did young Halustre climb up high somewhere only to require some draconic assistance in getting down.

With his love of singing, Halustre could have taken up Harpercraft during his teenage Turns but he decided to start in Healercraft instead because it offered more of a challenge. He made it to his journeyman knots before Daith found him at the age of twenty. Eight Turns later, shortly before Thread starting falling again, H’stre transferred to Igen Weyr to help with their healer shortage. A new place combined with an old skyborn enemy put H’stre under a crucible of self, a trial that he did not feel he conquered well. He emerged from that darker period with a deeper knowledge of himself, which helped propel him into becoming a Wingleader a few Turns later at thirty-four.

When he heard about the expansion of Barrier Lake into a full Weyr, he decided to transfer South again on a new adventure.

Dragon's Name: Daith
Dragon's Age: 20
Dragon's Hatching Date: m2 d5
Dragon's Colour: Bronze
Description of Dragon:
Daith could be more accurately described as a metallic dusted brown dragon with how dark his hide is. He is sleek, with none of the bulk that bronzes are known for, which gives him greater agility in flight. There is a trailing silvering of scars on his left hind flank.

Daith matches his rider’s infectious curiosity, tempered only by Threadfall days and Wing practice. He loves to play with weyrlings the most.
