Physical Description of Persona:
I'thralos is tall and lean, and built like he's more accustomed to being hunched over a typeset than engaging in physical labour. He moves with an easy confidence, his posture rarely stiff despite the hours spent hunched over his work; always too lively, too restless to fully settle fully, which turns out to be a benefit in a Hall with manpowered machines.
He is undeniably handsome, though not in the chiseled way of a bronzerider or a lord's son. His features have a boyish charm; high cheekbones, a strong jaw, and dimples that only deepen the impression of youthful mischief. His expressive face leaves little to the imagination; every thought flickers across it in turn, from amusement to frustration to the quiet, focused intensity that settles in when he's lost in his work. He is the kind of young man who could win favor with nothing more than a well-placed grin, a tilt of his head, a sparkle in those striking green eyes. His hair is dark, shaggy, and long, such is the fashion with many young men, which he keeps pulled back.
Despite his energy, there are quiet lines of fatigue beneath his eyes.
Emotional Description of Persona:
I'thralos is a bit of a nerd. The handsome face hides a passion for books and newspapers, and he could excitedly talk for hours about the importance of paper quality and ink colours. I'thralos is easygoing and effortlessly charismatic, his charm lying in his openness rather than any attempt to impress. It makes him an excellent interviewer and a better journalist; he takes genuine pride in his work and it shows in the articles he writes. He throws himself into his craft with enthusiasm, from delving into the archives to fact-check to ensuring the typeset is perfect for each page. He's at the beginning of his career and the first to say yes to extra work, happy to take on each new project for the sake of experience.
History of Persona:
Despite being born and raised in the Weyr, I'thralos never felt the call to become a dragonrider, so while many of his fostersibs and age-mates moved into the candidate barracks at twelve, I'thralos pushed his foster family to let him leave the Weyr to seek an apprenticeship at the Printer Hall in Topaz Seahold instead. Of course he disregarded the well-intentioned concern about how he'd fare at a seahold so far from the Weyr and everything he knew; he understood, in the vaguest sense that a twelve-turn old could, about how different the holds were compared to home, and he wasn't prepared for the reality and struggled in first few months there. He didn't have much time to worry about it, however, as the Topaz Seahold hurricane destroyed the Hall and later, the Harper Hall fire destroyed the rest and he, along with all the other Printerhall apprentices, were amalgamated into the Harper Hall and brought back to the Weyr.
Undeterred, I'thralos followed the Harper Hall when it moved back to Emerald Falls Hold, where he studied hard and walked the tables at eighteen. He remained on at Emerald Falls Hold, working with the few Printers left to rebuild the Hall. He caused a minor scandal at the Harper Hall when the girl he was courting inevitably became pregnant, though at the time he happily proposed and they were married quickly. Although he was a journeyman (and a good one, at that), her parents were less than thrilled at the match and their daughter's poor judgement, so when crafter contracts came up he volunteered to go back home to Dolphin Cove Weyr. The move was hard on Vianne and the culture of the Weyr was so vastly different. He tried to ease her transition as best he could, but he worked long and sometimes odd hours, and he left her in the company of foster family and old friends. When she showed him the Search token one morning and asked about becoming a candidate, he encouraged her to do it. Of course, he would help out with the baby more. He'd support her if she wanted to become a dragonrider. They can make it work. It's getting harder and harder to make it work.

Dragon's Name: Vorlogoth
Dragon's Age: 0
Dragon's Hatching Date: m10 d15
Dragon's Colour: Bronze
Description of Dragon:
Vorlogoth is impossible to miss - even at his most awkward. A big bronze at Hatching and a big bronze at maturity, he starts with large, slightly clunky limbs that aren't graceful, yet still operate with a strange, steely, coordinated confidence. His heavy-footed gait commands attention, each step weighted with absolute certainty; as he grows, the bulk and raw potential of youth will refine into a kind of prowling ease - not flashy, but compelling. Gravitas is more the word. He moves like he’s been here before and has been waiting for everyone else to catch up. His growth will be substantial and relentless during his training - it has to be if he’s to end up a veritable powerhouse in the Wings in a mere matter of months. His hide is a dark, smoky bronze, as if forged from char and ash and wrapped around a molten amber core. The shine lingers just beneath the surface - subtle, syrupy, and slow to reveal itself. His spine and neckridges deepen into near-ink black-bronze, more glassy than metallic, sleek and strange, and freshly oiled there is something otherworldly in his appearance, like a relic of an older time, equally shaped from heat and pressure and shadow.
Vorlogoth is a forceful, unyielding bronze with a presence that commands attention the moment he steps onto the Sands. Stern, resolute, and deeply driven, he views the world in terms of structure, purpose, and potential -- if he can’t see a reason for something, or a purpose that leads to an end, it’s utterly irrelevant. Art? Family? He has no concept of these things and will need to have them explained to him in a way that fits his worldview before he’ll even begin to consider them as a factor in anything. He chose I'thralos not for charm or willingness, but for the strength he sees hidden beneath ink-stained fingers and easy manner. Vorlogoth pushes hard, demanding conviction and leadership from his rider and good sense, judgment, and either leadership or obedience from his fellow dragons, depending on the aptitude he decides they have. He doesn’t coddle or coax -- he challenges, certain that greatness is forged, not gifted. To that end, he doesn’t rest on his laurels -- he doesn’t attribute his own ability to command to something as pedestrian as the hide color he was hatched with, but to his clarity of vision and immense will to make that vision a reality. Vorlogoth is inertia -- an unstoppable force once he gets going -- but he’s not entirely an immovable object. He does care very fiercely about those under his command. He just wants them to be the best they can be, and he will never run out of patience for guiding those truly willing to work to meet his expectations. It’s just that the weight of those expectations can be _crushing_… but beneath that weight is a sense of unwavering loyalty, and a belief so fierce it leaves no room for doubt: you were meant for more, and Vorlogoth will see you become it -- whether you want to or not.
Pets
Jeepers, Brown Firelizard: aged 1, hatched m6 d10
Jeepers is a deep klah brown in color and without a single thought in his head. He seems to be mostly trained and understands most basic commands, but is consistently confused by the mysteries of billowing curtains or mirrors. He's the kind of firelizard whose curiosity is matched only by his complete lack of focus; at any given moment, he could be distracted by a fluttering leaf or the faintest noise. His understanding of the world around him is an odd combination of complete certainty in the things he’s familiar with (like the sound of his name being called) and utter confusion about anything new or unexpected.
