Description: The DFW leaders visit BLW after the attempted murder of Kapera
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Date: month 2, day 8 of Turn 12
I'serin met Saibra in her office mid-morning, dressed for flying. "Whenever you are ready," he said with a solemn nod at her. After some late night discussions, they had decided to visit Barrier Lake that day to see what succor could be offered...and hopefully to find some answers. Dragonsfall Weyr was on high alert, fearing the next disaster would target them.
Saibra nodded at I'serin. She was also dressed for flying, wearing somber hues of black. Her long hair was braided tightly against her scalp. "Let's go." She had been thinking back to the last time she'd seen Kapera. They had both been at a hatching, both without escorts, and they'd spent the evening drinking and gossiping and being two women, instead of two Weyrwomen. **How quickly things change,** she thought.
The flight to Barrier Lake was a quick one, and their entry into the Weyr was challenged as soon as they arrived in the air above the lakeside Weyr.
}:We're here,:{ Chioneth sent to Tymborikath and Rogueth, as she and Aluneth waited patiently in the air.
**Tell Avicath to calm down. He's riling up the other dragons.** Aydhan thought as she rose from her desk. The place was a mess and so was she. She'd hardly slept. She'd at least changed out of her gather outfit and into something more comfortable, though the smudged day-old cosmetics added to the look.
}: Tell your weyrmate to calm down. :{ Tymborikath countered, though she rumbled a welcome to the incoming bronze and gold. }: Welcome, Chioneth. :{ Tymborikath answered, }: We're waiting for you. :{
D'hol walked into the Weyrwoman's office in strict control of his face at least. He held out his hand to Aydhan. "Acting Weyrwoman," he said with a nod. Tilting his head toward the door. "Shall we?" Yumath had already sent his own greeting to the incoming pair.
Aydhan took the offered hand with a grimace. "We look like quite a pair today, don't we?" She asked as they moved to the larger meeting room. Someone -- D'hol, perhaps, or Jaylene -- had seen to it to have snacks and klah ready, at least, though Aydhan wished for wine.
The Dragonsfall leadership walked in a moment later, I'serin falling just a step behind Saibra to let the goldriders greet each other first. His eyes found D'hol though and he gave the other Weyrleader a sympathetic nod.
Yumath warbled his own greeting to Chioneth with a nod to the visiting Aluneth though his eyes were whirling Lavender and Grey with flecks of red. But just like his rider he was holding on to his emotions to avoid snapping at nearby dragons.
D'hol raised his chin and returned I'serin's nod. Then the corner of his mouth rose a fraction and his eyes softened as he greeted Saibra by bowing over her hand. "Very good to see you Lady Saibra," he said.
“D’hol.” Saibra squeezed the Barrier Lake Weyrleader’s hand. “I’m so sorry about Riyanth. How is Kapera?”
"She's still unconscious," He said with a lift of his lips. "J'nus won't leave her side."
"Is there anything Dragonsfall can do to aid Barrier Lake during this time?" Saibra asked this question to D'hol and Aydhan both.
I'serin appeared to be doing some quick calculations after Saibra asked that question. Thread was not due to fall for either Weyr until later that sevenday. "If you need a Wing of ours to help steady your Flights, I can send one," he offered. He did not think that was necessary but he was not certain what else to offer at first glance. The loss of a gold dragon was cataclysmic. There were not many Records that dealt with how to navigate the aftermath of it.
D'hol looked at Aydhan before nodding. "Thank you," he said. "We'll take a look after some drills and will let you know."
"What about goldrider duties, Aydhan?" Saibra addressed the acting Weyrwoman. "I can send Lanniya up this way if extra hands are needed. She's excellent with hidework and she hears all dragons, so she's extremely helpful during Threadfalls."
"I appreciate the offers." Aydhan replied, "An extra Wing might help, D'hol. I don't think either of you or J'nus should lead your Wings into 'Fall so soon after, but that's up to you. My wingsecond is going to lead the Queen's Wing for a while. I've never needed to think much about it, and I'd rather focus on, well, everything else." She swept a hand to gesture about the weyr for emphasis. "I'll let you know about Lanniya. Rasme has taken on a lot to help with the workload, and the Queen's Wing can take on some too in the meantime. It's not _ideal_, by any means, but I don't want to create other problems in your Weyr, too."
She paused for a moment, but practicality won out. "We'll get a few weyrwomen interested in Kapera's position, anyway, so we won't be without golds for too long. We can handle it until then."
"Then we will not take up any more of your time," I'serin replied. He looked at D'hol. "Please, let me know what you decide about the additional Wing. Dragonsfall is here to assist in any way we can." Weyrs themselves might be autonomous but dragonriders were a kin apart. Tragedy in one Weyr affected them all. His hazel eyes turned towards Saibra. He nodded his head deferentially. "Weyrwoman?" he prompted, checking to see if there was anything more they needed to address before departing.
D'hol nodded briefly, mutely thanking I'serin before taking a deep breath and rubbing his eyes.
Since D'hol hadn't weighed in on the extra wing offer, K'ran decided to offer his own thoughts. "If you do send an extra wing, could I request it be Cyan? I know that wing has a Hears All as Wingleader, and you already covered why it would be a benefit with Lanniya's talent. Plus, I'm sure some of the riders are the same familiar faces I remember."
The Weyrleader of Dragonsfall Weyr nodded. "A wise idea. I will speak with L'val."
"Let's keep the lines of communication open," Saibra said to D'hol and Aydhan. "We're happy to offer aid in any form, and we would be in your debt to know what you learn about the motivations of the attack, should we need to also be on guard."
"We will keep in touch, Saibra." Aydhan said with a nod. "A danger to one goldrider is a danger to us all."
