Physical Description of Persona:
Nistaja is a not very tall, but she's far from delicate. Muscles built up from turns of her craft are mostly hidden by healthy curves that attract her attention from men who like their women voluptuous. In her youth she envied the riders of the weyr their trim, slender figures, but Nistaja is finally growing comfortable with herself.

Having long since learned that long hair is easier to keep out of her face--and therefore out of her clay--Nistaja wears her black hair in a simple braid that she usually pins up at the base of her neck. Her clothing tends to be plain and sturdy, since she spends most of her day elbow deep in mud. Though some people have implied in the past that she might clean up to be pretty, Nistaja is happiest covered in mud or playing in the dirt, and her warm smile and cheerful brown eyes are more appealing than any fancy clothing she might be able to wear.

Emotional Description of Persona:
If there's anything Nistaja hates, it's being indoors. Every chance she gets finds her outside, sometimes digging in the garden she made for herself, other times just enjoying the sun and air.

When she spends time with other people, Nistaja is friendly and open. Her earthy sense of humor is often at odds with her innocent appearance, but anyone who talks to her for more than a quarter candlemark will quickly realize that Nistaja is not in the least bit innocent.

History of Persona:
Nistaja was born at Dolphin Cove, the daughter of a potter and a bluerider. She followed in her mother's footsteps from an early age, learning about clay and ceramics in an unofficial sort of apprenticeship. Her mother was always open to the possibility that her daughter would choose a different path, but when it became clear at thirteen that Nistaja had talent _and_ love for her craft, Nistaja was apprenticed formally to a Master Smith whose specialty was ceramics.

There was a brief adjustment period when Nistaja realized that Master Yatalo was going to be a far stricter taskmaster than her mother had been, but she couldn't deny that she learned a great deal from Yatalo.

When she was sixteen, Nistaja's mother died from complications after an aggressive chest infection. Though her contact with her father had always been casual before this, L'nist stepped in to provide his daughter with support while she recovered from her loss. A firm friendship was established between them during this time, and remains the most important relationship in her life.

Now that she has her journeyman's knots, Nistaja spends most of her time making sensible and useful dishes for the weyr. She accepts more interesting commissions as time permits, and has been expanding her talents to sculpture.
