Physical Description of Persona:
Kuhaji isn’t the tallest out there, nor is he the shortest. He’s squarely set at an average height, with a slender build turned wiry with muscle.

Kuhaji has close-cropped black hair and pale lashes, as well as expressive light blue-grey eyes and fair skin. His expression tends toward naturally serious, as if he’s always considering something important, and it’s rare to get a smile out of him. When he does smile, however, his whole face lights up, and he seems just that bit younger.

Emotional Description of Persona:
At first, Kuhaji might seem cautious, even defensive, to those he doesn’t know. He tends toward reacting first and thinking second if he feels threatened. Strangers are often met with a careful sort of suspicion until they've proven themselves trustworthy. That wariness can make him come across as standoffish, even if he doesn't mean to be.

That lasts only so long as he _doesn't_ know someone, however.

Kuhaji is slow to trust someone, but once he does, it is extraordinarily difficult to _break_ that trust. Loyalty is one of the most important things to him. If someone has stood by him, he will stand by them in return, sometimes to a fault.

Beneath his rough edges lies a careful, intelligent mind. Kuhaji has a good memory, and grasps new concepts and patterns with relative ease. While he may not express himself with fancy speech, he isn’t daft.

Those who get closest to him may eventually discover a gentler side. He is protective, patient, and thoughtful with people he cares about. He'll make them his priority, on occassion even over his own wellbeing.

His greatest strength and greatest weakness are often the same thing: once Kuhaji decides someone is in his circle, he commits with all his heart. He can be stubbornly forgiving of their mistakes, blind to their faults, and reluctant to believe someone's made fun of or betrayed him even when the evidence is clear.

History of Persona:
Kuhaji was, as far back as he knows, born Holdless. As a child, he was raised by an older Holdless woman, but when he was thirteen, she died of old age. Heartbroken, Kuhaji had no choice but to go it alone for a few months, mostly stealing to survive, before he eventually fell in with another small band of Holdless.

When Kuhaji was 14, the band he was with passed by White Hollow, and a few of the Holdless were hired on as guards. Kuhaji ended up tagging along, drawn by the promise of safety in numbers and free food, and was eventually recruited as a guard as well when he became old enough. He met Gilbek during that time, and the older man helped him avoid some of the worst trouble, though not all of it. Kuhaji never _willingly_ hurt anyone.

After the Hold was restored, Kuhaji asked if he could stay on, and after the Headwoman and a few others vouched for him, it was allowed.

Most recently, a dragon came on Search and wonder of wonders, it singled out Kuhaji-- though he had, again, to swear that he meant no harm to anyone. That he had never wanted part in the trouble.

It was a chance to leave the last of his past behind. What better path forward than to help fight against Thread?
