Persona Profile: Lindora

Writer: Francesca

Name: Lindora
Age: 20
Birthday: m12 d14
Rank: Candidate
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Face Claim: Kat Graham

Physical Description of Persona:
Lindora has thick, wavy dark brown hair with lighter brown streaks that become more prominent when she spends a lot of time outside. Her hair caused numerous arguments with her mother when she was young and hated sitting still as it was brushed. She usually wears it in a long braid, or multiple braids, to keep it away from her face as she is working in the kitchens or taking care of her daughter.

She often wears green to bring out the green in her hazel eyes. She has a wide forehead and cheekbones that taper to a small chin. At 5’ 2,” she is not tall, but attempts to carry herself like someone taller. While not overweight, a pregnancy has added some weight to her frame, especially to her stomach and thighs. And, candlemarks in the kitchen along with carrying her daughter have helped her develop muscles in her upper arms. She likes feeling strong but wears longer sleeves when possible, wanting potential suitors to perceive her as dainty and feminine.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Lindora is stubborn and tenacious; a combination that means she is willing to play the long game to get what she wants. She knows she is expected to marry (again) and have children but, within those constraints, she is trying to carve out her own path.

Turns at the Baker Hall have turned Lindora into a meticulous cook. She finds joy in executing a recipe well and hearing Hall residents comment positively on her dishes. On the rare occasions she is able to exercise any creativity, she enjoys creating small pastries with designs on the top. She looks forward to her daughter getting old enough to cook with her.

The birth of her daughter has helped Lindora focus more on the moment, rather than constantly thinking of plans for the future. With her daughter, she can be spontaneous and silly, which is a side that hardly ever comes out around others.

History of Persona:
Lindora is the third of four children of Palinor, a Master Harper who works in the Hall’s Archives, and Iliandra. She had a happy childhood, filled with love from her mother and lots of playing with her younger sister. When she was 10, the Hall moved to Dolphin Cove Weyr, which was an overwhelming and exhilarating experience. However, that excitement faded when, soon after Lindora’s eleventh birthinday, Iliandra suddenly fell ill and, despite the diligence of both Hall and Weyr healers, died. Her father had never been involved in childcare, but several of the Hall residents made sure Lindora and her sister, who was 6 at the time, were taken care of.

When Palinor began making comments about sending both sisters to family at Emerald Falls Hold, Lindora convinced him to send her to the Bakercraft Hall as a student, saying she would learn many useful skills and he would not need to burden his sister with two fosterlings. Right after her twelfth birthingday, her father dropped her off at the Bakercraft Hall. It took some time for Lindora to feel at home there, but she soon made close friends and learned she was good at baking and enjoyed it. Out of curiosity, she even experimented a bit with one of the girls there, but soon realized she was more interested in boys than girls.

Lindora spent four happy Turns at the Bakercraft Hall until, at the age of 16, her father started searching for a suitable husband. Less than six months later, she was married to a promising Journeyman harper, Zamran, who treated her well. Soon after, their daughter, Zinora, was born.

Only sevendays before Zinora’s first birthingday, Zamran went on a teaching circuit and fell ill, passing away before the cothold residents were able to call a healer. While Lindora had not been madly in love with her husband, she had enjoyed his company and the stability marrying him had brought to her life. Moving back in with her father was not the life she had imagined for herself and, after a mourning period, Lindora began searching for a husband who would accept her daughter and make her happy.

The opening of the nearby Printer Hall provided an opportunity for Lindora to put some distance between herself and her overbearing father, and attempt to catch the attention of the very eligible Hallmaster.

In month 5 of Turn 12, Lindora was Searched and, after a conversation with Hallmaster Aleriand where he made it clear he wasn't interested in marriage, Lindora transferred the Weyr. She hopes Impressing a dragon will set her and her daughter up for a better future.
