Physical Description of Persona:
R'vkal acquired most of his mother’s looks, with hazel eyes and light brown hair that gets streaked with gold in the summer. There’s a wiry build to him that’s only just now starting to fill out as he begins his twenties and craft. He stands about 5’10, speaks with a tenor voice, and wears two silver rings on his hands -- one from his mother, and one for his departed fiancee.
Emotional Description of Persona:
R'vkal is someone who understands duty and tradition pretty well, but now also knows tragedy and resilience. He’s not an ambitious person. He wants simple pleasures and steady paths. Any risks he takes are calculated. He won’t be one for recklessness or waste. He’s industrious, despises slothfulness, and tries hard to keep up some semblance of an education. He doesn’t want to be seen as a dolt. As someone who gets his hands dirty often, he values the same hard work in others.
Ryvankal struggles with a short temper and resentment. He’s aware of both of these problems yet can’t seem to work through them enough, aside from learning how to stop throwing a punch before thinking about the consequences but he’s trying to use his words and not his fists more. When it comes to relationships, Ryvankal knows how to provide but isn’t so good at communicating. He tends to try to make up for his lack of words by gifts or service.
History of Persona:
Born to a smithcrafting family, Ryvankal’s earliest memories are of a forge -- its heat, its implements, its grime, its creative force. His father specialized in weaponry, building swords for guards, slings and javelins for hunters, daggers for everyone else. Ryvankal would sit as close as he comfortably could in the heat and watch his father work. It came as no surprise to anyone that he apprenticed into the same craft, learning with his father and uncle at Green Valley Hold.
What came as a surprise was how Ryvankal and his cousin, Larsaz, went from being kids that were always playing together to teenagers who barely spoke to each other. Their mothers had hoped for the two boys to continue the family tradition but when it looked like only one boy had interest in that, the burden of that tradition grew heavy on Ryvankal. He felt pressured to take a wife, accepting an arrangement with a woman a Turn younger than him.
But just as nuptials loomed, two cataclysmic events occurred. The first was that Larsaz went to the Weyr, declaring that he was only going to Stand one Hatching and then return. This planted a seed within Ryvankal, who had always turned down the Searchriders out of obligation to his family. He quietly nursed that dream but kept it to himself because of his proposed future.
The second event was the death of his fiancee, Amina. Her runner, racing through the forest one day, tripped and fell on top of her. Even though Ryvankal didn’t love her, he felt that he could grow to care for her, and this loss of course gave bloom to the idea that maybe he should do what Larsaz did and just give one Hatching a try. When else would he get the chance?
He discovered that life at the Weyr was a lot more than he initially thought he knew but after a few Hatching, Indrath picked him out of the crowd and now the Weyr would be their future.

Dragon's Name: Indrath
Dragon's Age: 0
Dragon's Hatching Date: m6 d26
Dragon's Colour: Bronze
Description of Dragon:
A lovely burnished bronze, Indrath is solidly built like his rider and will be one of the larger bronzes of the Weyr once mature.
Polite is a good word for Indrath, though he still radiates the confidence of his color. Like his rider, he prefers to listen and observe before acting.
