Description: Luneth attempts to rise
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 11, day 16 of Turn 9
The hormones had started, Ninaine decided as she glared with
irritation at the back of a recalcitrant Candidate as he left the
shared Weyrlingstaff Assistant's office. Not cleaning up after himself
wasn't a serious or overwhelming issue, but it had irked her so badly!
Shards, everything for the past two days had irritated her; she'd
found her self irritated at N'call just for coughing at one point and
had had to bite her tongue before snapping at him. If this what what
she could expect out of _this_ pregnancy, she pitied her weyrmate.
Grumbling to herself, she rubbed at her swelling abdomen; she was
already showing much more than she had with Callaine. The baby bump
wasn't huge yet, but she'd already started to prefer her leggings over
trousers and just the previous sevenday, she'd felt the first little
bubble of movement within her. N'call hadn't been able to feel it, not
yet, but she had and it was becoming more frequent.
A sudden shriek startled her and she dropped the hides she'd held in
one of her hands. That shriek had been heard with both her ears and
her mind and Faranth help her, she recognized it. It was Luneth and
the sudden surge of desire that hit her both startled and dismayed
her. She hurried outside, mouth parted in shock as Luneth landed at
the feeding pens, her green hide glowing in the afternoon sun. It was
impossible! Luneth couldn't fly well yet, especially not for any
extended period of time! And she wasn't ready for this, hadn't
prepared for it at all! ** Luneth, you can't! You're not well enough!
You're...** The mental protest was cut off with another scream of lust
as she dove for a herdbeast, teeth sinking in and shaking the beast
savagely until the neck broke with a sickening crack of bone. Choking
at the surge of lust, Ninaine knew that any protest she had wouldn't
matter. She hurried towards the area, face drawn with both worry and
growing desire.
Galerith was always ready to answer to any mating challenge from any
green. It didn't take the blue a long to arrive to the pens. His rider
was left to jog after him.
When Sh'lua saw who it was, he frowned. He knew of Luneth's injury, it
had been talked all over the Weyr when it happened. That's why her
rider now worked with Weyrlings.
"Ninaine?" Sh'lua approached the Green's rider. "I thought she can't fly?"
"I was just going to ask that," N'call smiled as he came jogging up
himself. "Hey," he gave Ninaine a sideways hug. "She'll be fine."
J'lor arrived a moment later. Luruth had flooded him with his desire
to chase so he'd gotten to the cots as soon as he was able.
Imalkyth bugled his intent interrupting K'ale in mid-swing of his
blacksmith hammer. At least he was able to stop but he tweaked
something in the process and was holding his arm to his side when he
arrived.
Juth dropped of his rider and joined the growing group of hopeful
chasers. Once again M'shan found himself in a same Flight with his
brother. The brownrider could only roll his eyes to Sh'lua, who
grinned back.
Little Kadeth bugled his intentions. Yes, there were a lot of browns
and bronzes about but he was swift and more nimble. He was a confidant
little blue. S'vin groaned as he saw who it was. **What's wrong with a
male green, eh?** Honestly, every time Kadeth flew--and caught--it
always seemed to be a female rider. He was as grumpy as his blue was
cheerful. If Kadeth caught, he'd never hear the end of it tonight.
J'nne felt a longing from Tribeth, the first time he had ever. The
young bronze hopped over to stand with the others males, shivering
slightly. She was so beautiful, Luneth was. He never wanted a green
like he wanted her. But he knew he was--along with a few
clutchmates--the youngest one there. But maybe that wouldn't matter.
His rider joined the group of men surrounding Ninaine, his eyes round
with concern for her. She had been so kind when he and Tribeth were
weyrlings, it felt...odd...to now be in this position.
"She can't...not much and not long." Ninaine's voice came in soft
pants, but focused on her green. She could not bear the weight of
heavy meat in her belly, so forced Luneth to only take the blood of
the beast she had killed. She drained the beast, then another before
taking to the air in a flurry of wingbeats that made her rider wince
with worry.
Luneth took to the air as though the stress upon her wing meant
nothing, despite feeling the hint of worry that mingled with the
overwhelming sensation of lust. She shrieked her challenge to the
gathered males and strove to reach the highest in the air that she
could.
Galerith leaped to the air after her, Juth not far behind him.
}:I chase,:{ warned Lakiath just before throwing himself into the sky
to chase the green. The blue needed to chase this green, beautiful and
never before caught by him. He saw her as a challenge for him to
claim.
On the ground Z'kai stepped into the circle and he stared around it at
the other men, the challengers for the prize. He did not know Ninaine
well so he had no investment one way or the other in the case. Were he
to lose, then he'd just take a moth.
Menanth had made his intentions clear. D'ren was relieved that it was
at least a female rider this time, though he was concerned about the
green's injury. }:When I catch her I will hold her well, and my wings
will carry us both.:{ The bronze's confidence made D'ren chuckle, and
then he took a deep breath, surrendering himself to the flight.
Becoming one with his dragon would let him forget himself for a while.
Menanth leapt into the air close after Luneth, judging that her
injured wing might make her slower and less maneuverable, which would
give a larger, slower bronze a better chance of catching her.
Luneth strained upwards; even in her dim mind clouded with lust, she
knew that she had to strive high for a long fall. She ached to dart in
the clouds, to play with the males and tease them, but there was a
hesitation from her rider, a faintly felt worry that held her back
from doing so. Already her wing was beginning to ache from the
unaccustomed exercise, so she looked behind her at the following
males. They were too close! She banked, felt a painful tug, then
righted herself quickly.
Ninaine's face, set with the primal lust, twisted at the pain she felt
in her arm that echoed her dragons. She was one with Luneth, but felt
the urgency to not push her injury too far. The risk of never flying
again was too great to ignore.
She seemed stressed rather than happy with her flight and Haloth flew
beneath her hoping to catch her if she fell.
Imalkyth warbled his praise for her beauty and the great effort she
was making for hers. He swooped a little closer trying to sense if she
was tiring.
Luruth trumpeted his desire and below J'lor stepped closer to the
lovely young rider.
Galerith was alarmed by the way she floundered. He also moved closer
and beneath her, nearly bumping into Haloth.
Ignorant to her previous injuries, Juth was slightly confused by her
actions. Why wasn't she flying higher, faster? This was getting too
easy.
Tribeth too was concerned. Unconsciously he found himself alongside
Galerith, ready to catch her if she weakened and could no longer fly.
Unlike the bronzes, blue Kadeth had put too much speed in his pursuit
and found himself well out of place to claim her.
With a cluster of males below her, Menanth took a position above
Luneth instead. }:You have much heart, Luneth, but do not strain
yourself too much. Choose me and I will fly you well.:{
Lakiath saw her hesitate on the bank and he darted closer. There were
other bigger dragons in the way, so instead of getting below her, he
went for the side. If she tried to roll away out of the pincer of
males, he could be there!
As high as she strove, Luneth could not go farther. Her wing cramped
painfully and with a startled cry, she began to flounder, struggling
not to begin to tumble downward. With an instinctive turn, she swung
towards one of the nearest dragons, seeking both completion and aid.
She found herself in Luruth's grip, surrendering to the blue's support
and lust.
Ninaine gave a cry and fell towards J'lor, accepting Luneth's choice
with relief.
Bellowing his disappointment, Juth turned around to return to Weyr.
Galerith took his losing more stoically. Once he had certain she was
safely being held, he /betweened/ back to his weyrledge.
Luruth wrapped himself around the green and extended his wings to
control their fall from the sky. On the ground below J'lor also
wrapped himself around her rider and carried her into the mating cot.
N'call growled his frustration, they'd been so careful and so close.
He brushed off the waiting hands and went back to his weyr to soak in
the pool. Haloth too bellowed and returned to his ledge to watch for
other rising greens.
K'ale simply turned away and into the arms of a flight moth while
Imalkyth returned to complain to his ledge-mate.
S'vin breathed a sigh of relief before--likewise--turning to someone
else, a fellow blue rider. Unlike the other two, J'nne found himself
trembling from fear for her more than from any lust. He turned heel
and all but ran outside to welcome his brave Tribeth back. There would
be other Flights. He just hoped Luneth was okay.
