Physical Description of Persona:
Feydik is tall, about 6'2", but slender and lean. Not skinny, but definitely lacking excess fat on his body. He has long limbs and fingers. His face is on the narrow side, with a somewhat sharp chin, and a longish nose. His mouth is small, with thin lips. His hair is the color of ripe wheat, and is kept trimmed and usually reasonably neat. His eyes are a dull blue. His skin is fair, and on the pale side, likely the result of hours spent in study and experimentation as opposed to outdoors.
Emotional Description of Persona:
Feydik comes across as the quiet, contemplative sort, but he's not exactly an introvert. He enjoys the company of others and, when he finds himself interested in a conversation, can become quite talkative. He's utterly taken with the pursuit of scientific progress, and his friends have learned to just smile and nod when he launches into one of his pedantic expositions.
He is somewhat awkward around the fairer sex, primarily due to his lack of experience in such matters, having devoted so much of his life and time to academic and technical studies. Which is not to say he isn't interested (quite the contrary), but he's come somewhat late to the game. Coming from a Northern-influenced trade as he does, Feydik has adopted a much more egalitarian view of women than the Southern continent usually expouses.
In the event of conflicts, Feydik tends for a rational, logical approach. In his mind, there are always motivating factors behind every action, and if one merely understands and unravels these factors, most problems can be solved. This approach doesn't always work in practice, as some things simply can't be sorted out so easily. This is not to say that Feydik can't be provoked into action. If you spill his ale at the tavern, he'll probably point out your error and ask you to buy him another. If you respond with an insult, he'll probably talk to you about the irresponsibility of your actions. If you fail to see eye to eye with him at that point, then he'll probably do what any red-blooded male would do, and a fight would likely start.
History of Persona:
Feydik was born to his parents, Feynalla and Dikren, in Garnet Valley Hold. His father, Dikren, was a metalcrafter who worked out of Smith Hall, specializing in toolbuilding. His mother, Feyna, kept the home and saw to the raising of Feydik and his two older sisters, Narika and Renalla. Feydik led a more or less normal childhood.
He showed a proficiency with building things and working with his hands at a young age, and his father encouraged Feydik to follow him in the trade of a metalcrafting. Feydik agreed, and became an apprentice metalcrafter as soon as he came of age.
Two years after he became an apprentice, however, he found himself bored with metalcrafting, and took on side hobbies to occupy his mind. One day, he watched a visiting technician wire a new light into one of the passageways in the crafthall. Fascinated, he began to ask question after question of the technician and, after the tech had departed, Feydik set about attempting to replicate some of what he had seen.
It was a grand disaster, and Feydik ended up coming close to electrocuting himself and succeeded in blowing up an electric lamp. When he regained consciousness, he was scolded for his idiocy and punished, but it was insufficient to quell the spark of curiousity that burned within him. He found himself unable to fully apply himself to his crafting studies and spent all of his time studying what sparse material he could find on the art of the technicians. Finally, after three months of the same, Feydik did the unthinkable: he asked to be released from his apprenticeship.
It didn't go over well. His instructors were horrified, as was the Hallmaster and Feydik's parents. For a time, it seemed that everybody was unhappy with him, but he persisted and eventually his request was granted. It was another ordeal when he travelled to the Technician Hall and requested, without recommendation or precedent, to be admitted as an apprentice. After much pleading, he won an audience with the Hallmaster, who he eventually managed to impress with his infatuation with the craft, as well as the scant knowledge that he had managed to acquire. The Hallmaster relented, and he was admitted as an apprentice, albeit one somewhat older than the normal starting age.
Feydik worked hard and learned quickly, having finally found his element. He was 20 turns of age when he finally walked the tables. He was granted his junior journeyman status and dispatched to River Bluff weyr to provide support and service for the electrical system there.
