Physical Description of Persona:
Dawtrey is small-boned for a Farmcrafter's lad. At 5'3, he weighs only 120 lbs, but he is stronger than he looks, and could best be described as wiry. His medium brown hair is blond-streaked in the summer, and a bit shaggy no matter how often he has it cut, for it grows quickly and tufts usually stick out behind his ears. A heavy forelock shades his deep brown eyes, often squinting in the sun or with some private merriment that only very occasionally manifests itself in a broad smile. A spattering of dark freckles grace Dawtrey's upturned nose, despite the fact that he tans easily. He usually has dirt under the nails of his rough hands, which he tends to pick out with his knife when he has a rare moment of repose.

Emotional Description of Persona:
As a child, Dawtrey was always eager to help out wherever and however needed. The second son in a farming family of six, Dawtrey developed a sense of responsibility early on. His competitive streak drove him to work ever harder to keep up with his brothers, though their natural talents (and advantage in size) often precluded his ever actually besting them in most tasks. Still he was always the last one to give up, and the first one up the next morning for the daily chores. Patience is a virtue he possesses in abundance. He comes across as a bit backwards, since he rarely ever got the chance to do much talking in his outspoken family, but he is actually quite daring when given the chance. Despite a tough exterior – growing up in a house with 3 robust, jocular males gives one a thick skin - his aesthetic sensibilities are quite astute. His favorite time of day is early morning, especially if he is astride a spirited runner as the stars are fading and the warm solar rosiness embraces the cool night.

History of Persona:
Despite a good solid disposition and a strong work ethic, Sr. Journeyman Farmcrafter Dunlaf and his wife Autrey's second son was, in their eyes and his own, always in the shadow of his older brother Trelaf. Dawtrey worked hard, but Trelaf could carry more bales of the heavy alfalfa (the age-old Terran plant, his father's speciality), could plough a straighter furrow, could tell a better tale. Even his younger brother Dunley quickly outgrew him. Dawtrey was always most content when spending time with the family runner Roller, who alone seemed to appreciate Dawtrey's quiet company above any other.

Though the days were few and far between, Dawtrey was glad and grateful when given leave to go visit the neighbor's runnerstables, either on errand or for pleasure. The neighbor was generally pleased to seem him appear, since Dawtrey seemed to have a calming influence on even the greenest and most flighty runners, and few could unseat him. When finally the day arrived that he was considered old enough to apprentice, the neighbor did him the favor of suggesting him to the local Beastmaster as having the makings of 'a fine young runnerhandler'.

While his father was loathe to lose yet another helping hand on the farm, he was much more understanding with Dawtrey's choice than with his elder brother's, especially when given the assurance that Dawtrey could return to help with the harvest during its peak.

He advanced rather quickly to Journeyman status, as he gladly spent every waking hour working with, caring for, and thinking about runners and everything to do with them. The return of his brother to Emerald Falls Hold was a day of mixed feelings for Dawtrey. There was no bad blood between the brothers, but at the very moment he was embarking on a promising career with racers here came his brother, back to steal the limelight once again. At least, he hoped, it would take the pressure off him that his parents had been applying towards finding a mate and settling down. That preoccupation was last on his list right now, as far as he was concerned. For company, he generally prefers the four-legged sort.
