Persona Profile: Janella

Name: Janella
Age: 26
Birthday: m2 d10
Rank: Junior Weyrling
Location: River Bluff Weyr

Physical Description of Persona:
Janella is tall for her age, but her weight has yet to catch up to her height. Her long brown hair, normally tied back with a grubby twist of ribbon, is naturally straight. Blue eyes sparkling with mischief sit above a slightly bent nose, tribute to a childhood misadventure (one of many). Her skin is pale for a southerner, and unfortunately prone to freckle rather than tan. Whenever she can, she would far rather wear trousers than formal dresses, and blue is her colour of preference.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Janella is a boisterous girl by nature, fond of jokes and laughter. She talks, perhaps, slightly more than is proper, but has never been known to gossip. Any talk given to her in confidence stays in confidence. Fiercely loyal once befriended, she has mastered the art of appearing the perfect 'Holder's Daughter.' She just chooses not to use it very often. Her main talent lies in her voice, which is an unusually clear soprano, and she loves to sing. She is unusually fit for a girl, as her other hobby is sneaking out to go running or swimming, much to the dismay of her cotholder in Harper Hall!

History of Persona:
Janella was born early in the Turn, the fifth child of Genard, Seaholder of Lizard's Cove Seahold. Situated quite a way North-West of River Bluff Weyr, Lizard's Cove wasn't a large hold, but it was quite prosperous. Named for the large stretch of sand in which Firelizards seemed particularly eager to clutch, the Seaholders of Lizard's Cove had long made marks by judicious sale of clutches to wealthy inland holders.

Born into a reasonably wealthy family blessed with five boy-children, Janella enjoyed a very free childhood. Her mother died giving birth to her fifth, and final, son, leaving Janella mostly to the care of her older brothers. Consequently, she learnt considerably more about surviving in the Southern jungles and beaches than she did about proper ladylike decorum. From a young age, she loved to sing, and her first dream was to become the Masterharper of Pern. Her brothers were swift to point out the slight problem of her gender in this ambition, prompting a declaration of 'Fine! I'll be a Dragonrider instead!'

Upon reaching her twelfth Turn, a rather bemused Genard realised that his fifth child was not, in fact, a boy. This caused him some dismay, not least due to the fact that said child had been running around just like her brothers for the past twelve turns dressed in trousers, and was a better runner than all of her elder siblings. Resolving to turn Janella into a Lady by whatever means necessary, he sent for her and informed her that she was off to Harper Hall. The subsequent barricade of her room was removed only when an astute elder brother pointed out that, at Harper Hall, she would be taught how to sing.

Four turns later, an older and slightly more poised Janella returned to her Father's hold, ready to face whatever plans he held for her future. Unfortunately, the absent-minded Genard, after sending his troublesomely female progeny to the Harpers for instruction, had promptly forgotten about her. Faced with an unknown wait until he found something to do with her, it was a considerable relief to all involved when a River Bluff Weyr greenrider announced that Janella had been Searched as a candidate for the eggs currently warming on the Sands.
