Physical Description of Persona:
Though not overly tall, Tsaera is an imposing woman. Years of dragonriding and lugging heavy sacks of surveying gear over rugged terrain have given her impressive strength. She has powerful shoulders and arms of a type more often associated with smiths than goldriders. Her legs are strong, with well-defined muscles. As she has aged, she has become leaner, her curves less prominent. In the loose-fitting trousers and tunics she favors for everyday wear, she might be mistaken for a man at a distance. Even her walk is a businesslike long stride. Her posture is very straight, almost stiff. Her authority is obvious, even to those outside the Weyr. She wears it as clearly as her shoulderknots, in her stance and in the tilt of her head. Her once-dark hair is cut short in a tumble of graying waves. She is in the habit of running her hands through her hair. Despite this, it seldom looks actually untidy, and the loose style softens her look considerably.

Tsaera's eyes are a piercing dark gray. Riders requiring a reprimand often feel that those gray eyes can search the very depths of her being. That may not be true, but those eyes are quick to spot anything out of place in her Weyr, from a disorganized storeroom to a bronzerider's odd behaviour. Her cheekbones are high, and her jawline strong. Even asleep, she has a determined look. Years of work out in the open have left her skin like old leather, a network of fine wrinkles visible only at close range. Most people never get quite that close.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Tsaera tends to be very focused on what she considers important. She weighs the safety and well-being of her Weyr first, that of all the other Weyrs second, and the Pernese people as a whole, third. Her craft, her own preferences and her own family come much farther down the list. Every word and action is carefully calculated to ensure those priorities are respected. She does nothing on the spur of the moment. Even her emotional displays are carefully calculated for effect. Her manner is usually brisk and businesslike. She is friendly, but has few close friends. She maintains contact with her children and grandchildren, but remains separate from their lives. Tsaera takes the long view in everything. How will this decision affect the Weyr over the next Interval, the next Pass? These questions are foremost in her mind.

Though she thinks things through, she remains action oriented, despising people who think deeply and do nothing. In her mind, the result of all of this careful contemplation must be decisive action. In most cases, she feels that any decision is better than no decision.

History of Persona:
Tsaera was born and raised in the Mining Hall, so it was no surprise to her journeyman parents when she took up an apprenticeship at the age of twelve. They gifted her with a firelizard egg when she entered the Hall, in the hopes that a well-trained flit would be an asset to someone working underground or in out-of-the-way places.

When she became a Junior Journeywoman, a blue dragon made it known that she would be a suitable candidate for River Bluff's upcoming Hatching. Thinking that a green dragon would be an asset to her in her craft, particularly given a specialty in surveying and prospecting, she agreed to stand on the Sands.

It was two Hatchings later that she actually Impressed. Intensely focused on the hatching of a green dragonet, She had not even noticed golden Tabanirth shattering her shell. The gold made her way to the young miner, butting her imperiously in the small of the back, demanding to be fed. Tsaera spun in shock, soon replaced by the joy of the dragon-rider bond.

After her Weyrling training, she weyrmated with Velker, a journeyman tanner stationed at the Weyr, and the love of her lifetime. She was overwhelmingly happy for a few months, when the plague ripped through the land, claiming Velker, and nearly half the Weyr population, in a matter of sevendays. In her sorrow, she maintained contact with Velker's surviving family and friends, leading eventually to her lifelong friendship with Occhipinti, currently the Tanner Hallmaster.

She was in her fifties, and a Lady Weyrholder and a master miner before she weyrmated a second time. Again, she defied tradition, not choosing the rider of a bronze who flew her queen, but G'lanet, a brownrider. G'lanet and his Farleoth were killed in the first month of Threadfall in the new Pass.

Five Turns into the Pass Tabanirth informed her rider that she would no longer Rise. Although it broke her heart to leave her home, Tsaera decided to retire to a northern Weyr in order to break the chain of command and allow another Weyrwoman to take her place unchallenged. Two Turns later she was summoned back by the current Weyrwoman, whose pregnancy grounded her and left the Queen's Wing without a Wingleader, as her Second's dragon was bound to the Sands with a clutch of eggs. Tsaera has yet to decide if she'll stay at River Bluff, or if it would be better for the Weyr if she were gone.

Family and Friends
F'lin, 28, Wingsecond, Ash Wing, Barrier Lake Weyrhold (Grandson)
Everlyin, 48, Holder's wife (TSH) (Daughter)
B'nartil, 43, Brownrider, Far Island Weyr (Son)
Neasale, 41, Greenrider, DCW (Daughter)

Dragon's Name: Tabanirth
Dragon's Age: 54
Dragon's Colour: Gold
Description of Dragon:
A large, dark golden dragon, Tabanirth is a striking sight. As muscular as her rider, she has all the femininity in appearance that Tsaera lacks, although like her rider, she is beginning to show her age.

Tabanirth is a thoughtful personality in her own way, considering the good of the Weyr very highly. She is much more maternal than her rider, with an affection for the young of any species, and a tendency to keep tabs on her and her rider's offspring, never forgetting a living dragon she clutched. Growing wiser with each passing year,
Tabanirth often prompts her rider to consider the feelings of others, and not just their physical safety.

Tabanirth shows little preference to the bronzes of her Weyr, and was seldom flown by the same mate twice in a row.

Pets

Agate, Blue Firelizard: aged 60, hatched m5 d22
Agate is a hyperactive blue, eager to chase any glint of light or mote of dust. Reliable when given an order, Tsaera's only problem is finding the little rascal when she wants him. His habit of bringing his 'pet' pretty stones earned him his name - and Tsaera a few quarter-marks to spend at Gathers as an apprentice. He's a deep, bright blue, like a clear summer sky just before sunset.
