Persona Profile: Kinear

Writer: Athena

Name: Kinear
Age: 26
Birthday: m7 d5
Rank: Senior Weyrling
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Craft: Baker
Craft Rank: Senior Apprentice

Physical Description of Persona:
At 5'6" and 135 lbs, Kinear is no wraith, but nor is she huge. An active life of chasing after older brothers, carrying loads of flour, and performing various labor-intensive weyr chores has left her with a well-muscled body and calloused hands, forever with flour under her nails. Her oval face is always lit by a smile and the mischievious glint in her green eyes and framed by the sun-bleached dirty blonde hair that she likes to let swing free when she's not working in the kitchens.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Unlike many women in this troubled era, Kinear grew up with parents who remembered a different time and, as a result, has always been confident and self-assured. If her parents gave her confidence, her brothers gave her michieviousness, inspiring her to newer and greater hights of pranks to show them up. New-found responsibilties of being a senior apprentice and a candidate have mellowed her somewhat, but not enough that strange things don't happen around the weyr every now and then. Beneath the impishness lies a sincerity and a willingness to work as hard as she can.

History of Persona:
Kinear's mother, Lenira, was a young junior apprentice at Baker Hall when the ban was enacted, forcing her to quit her position and marry. She was lucky when she found Kennet, a stablehand who supported her ambitions and did not forbid her to work in the kitchens, continuing to practice her skills.

Kinear was a surprise to her parents, one last child (and a girl at that!), to trail their six sons. Tired of dragging Kinear away from her older brothers and trying to get her to behave as a girl-child should in these times, Kennet asked Lenira to keep Kinear in the kitchens with her. As a result, Kinear began learning the basics of the baking craft at a young age, Kinear's talent having passed on to her daughter, the second of the brood to go into Baking.

The new-found love of the Baker Craft did not keep Kinear from emulating her older brothers and she often ended up at the Healer's, getting various cuts, bruises, and broken bones mended. To hopefully put an end to the matter once and for all, Kennet had Kinear signed up for classes at the Bakerhall, along with several young women of the hold her age.

It wasn't long, however, until the boys at the Hall began to mock her ambitions to be a Master Baker, taunting her with the knowledge that she would not be allowed to get that far, that she could hold no rank and she would be forced to quit to marry.

With the advice of her dragonrider brother, T'bin, and the support of her parents and most of her brothers, Kinear left Sapphire Meadows Hold, eventually ending up at River Bluff Weyr, continuing her explorations of the Baker craft under the watchful eye of a journeyman baker. Two turns later, Kinear not only found herself a senior apprentice with the possibility of further promotion, but a candidate for Impression as well, a change in fortunes that has left her dizzy.
