Physical Description of Persona:
At 5’5, there’s a certain fullness to Hesbia that highlights her curves without giving the impression of being plump. The muscles she’s acquired from being Holdless won’t allow for that. But her brown eyes, full lips, and black hair add to this effect. Her voice is animated, ranging from a sultry alto to a ringing soprano, adding to her larger than life mannerisms since she accentuates her words with her hands. If given the choice, she loves to wear the color red and bulky, comfortable clothes. Between her looks and her attitude, she is not someone easily forgotten.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Hesbia is sharp, defensive. If she isn’t quick with her thought process, she’s cutting with her tongue. She’s had a lifetime of being underestimated, not listened to, and rejected -- she’s learned how to stand up for herself because no one else will. She doesn’t trust anyone, doesn’t take words at their face value. That’s not to say she’s mean-spirited or malicious. At her core, she’s a helper, a doer, a problem-solver, and brings the fire when needed because she cannot rely on anyone else in her life.

She’ll do just about anything for her little sister but even though family means so much to her, it’s also the cause of a lot of her woes. She’s caught between a devotion to that family and a need to strike out on her own. There has to be more to her life than someone else’s decisions over her. She fears being alone or being helpless, the former stemming from losing so much family over her life so far and the latter stemming from watching her father die.

History of Persona:
Hesbia wasn’t always Holdless. She was born at Amber Hills Hold. She remembers what it was like to have secure housing and food, running around with other Holdbrats, going to lessons with a harper. She didn’t become Holdless until she was almost ten and that was because her uncle decided to have one too many drunken brawls.

Her father, not wanting to abandon his brother to his fate, decided to take his family out of the Hold as well. It was a decision that he would regret. Hesbia’s mother protested going but went in order to keep her family together. She died by a tunnel snake bite the next Turn. Hesbia blamed her uncle for it all. Did her uncle clean up his act? For a bit, yes, mostly because wine was hard to get on the road, but the next few Turns were full of lots of hardship. Bereft of her mother, Hesbia grew up fast.

Their little clan made it down into Opal Cove territory, seeking odd jobs as they could. But nothing stuck. The moment they had some extra marks, Hesbia’s uncle would start up again and ruin it for them all. Hesbia began to wonder if her family would ever be rid of his fate.

As it turned out, Fate offered them a new start, though it was costly. Floods ravaged the caves where their family was sheltering with a group of other Holdless. Dragonriders rescued most of the people but Hesbia’s father drowned. Now at the Weyr, Hesbia was determined to stay and separate herself from her uncle through work -- that is, until a Searchrider gave her a second option.

It was a small clutch. She didn’t expect to Impress. But Oriveth expected her. With her uncle disappeared and her sister the only family left, Hesbia began a new chapter in her life.

Dragon's Name: Oriveth
Dragon's Age: 0
Dragon's Hatching Date: m12 d14
Dragon's Colour: Blue
Description of Dragon:
Oriveth is a dark blue, the shade of the sky at midnight. He is sleek and coordinated, moving with careful precision even for one so young. When he is done growing, he’ll be in the medium-large range of his color.

Oriveth is a quieter dragon. He’s not a fan of loud or crowded spaces (please don’t touch him unless he agrees to it) and prefers to spend his energy wisely. He may be social but he won’t be rumor-mongering. He may try something adventurous but it’s tempered with cautious observation.
