Physical Description of Persona:
Mirima is taller and broader by far than the average woman. She has long, straight chestnut brown hair she typically keeps in a thick braid. Her skin is on the tan side of fair, though she has the occasional freckle. Her eyes are a sharp brown. She is strong from various forms of manual labor.
Emotional Description of Persona:
Mirima refuses to be ashamed. Her mother never needed a husband to raise her and her siblings the proper way, and she never needed a husband to be a proper contributor to the Hold. In the same way, Mirima refuses to let anyone else define how she could or could not contribute or how she was meant to be a woman, and she refuses to accept any judgment of her mother or any other women. She strove to learn everything the women of the Hold knew, whenever she could find women willing to teach her, and she strongly believes that this knowledge and these skills are every bit as valuable and valid as the Hall-taught knowledge and skills women had long been excluded from.
Mirima loves stories, and she listened well to family histories, fables, and parables of all kinds, quickly becoming a competent storyteller herself. She diligently practiced long hours to learn calligraphy and illustration by mimicking whatever old fashioned handmade books she could borrow.
History of Persona:
Mirima was the firstborn of Kemira, a woman who eventually bore five children out of wedlock and who refused to disclose the identity of the father-- or, more likely, fathers. While those around her heaped judgment onto her for bucking the social expectations of marriage, Mirima grew up determined to be just like her mother in every way she could. This, to her, meant proving that she did not need a man to provide for her, nor especially to complete or validate her as a person.
Mirima's contrarian attitude did little to endear her to the other Hold residents, but she was a diligent worker and a curious learner, which earned her the recognition and tutelage of many of the Hold's women-- even if many of them taught her in secret.
She quickly gained a reputation for being genuinely helpful in a variety of contexts, and she was happy-- or, at least, proud to be a helper. Her memory was extraordinary, especially for remembering facts: from dates and events to recipes and inventories. She took an interest in the Hold's stories and even began to record some of them on paper.
Eventually, she began to tell her own stories, at first mixing and matching characters and morals, and then inventing her own. She honed her story around the fire, with children and adults alike as her audience, until one day, she felt confident enough to write it down. Once she felt it was finished, she recopied every page with fanciful illustrations and calligraphy at the start of every chapter.
The women of the Hold encouraged her to publish the story with the Printers, though they were far away from Amber Hills. Unable to make the trek herself, she pitched it to Dantoam, the first Harper she could convince to read it. While he took the manuscript and said he would do his best to see it published, he was dramatic in his insistence that it was a long shot, and Mirima should not get her hopes up.
Not long thereafter, Searchers gave Mirima and her family the opportunity to travel to the Weyr. While Mirima was somewhat skeptical of starting over in a new place, her family moved all together, and she stayed with them.
