Persona Profile: Katora

Writer: Halyonix

Name: Katora
Pronunciation: Ka-TORE-ah
Age: 16
Birthday: m10 d18
Rank: Junior Weyrling
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Job: Trader
Face Claim: Cailey Fleming

Physical Description of Persona:
Katora feels like she is rather nondescript. Her long, straight brown hair and dark brown eyes only confirm this in her mind. She’s reed-thin, about 5’7 already but she doesn’t look her age just yet because of her late-blooming. Her voice is settling into an alto timbre. If she can wear a sleeveless shirt, she will, and her wardrobe trends towards warmer colors. She wears a feline talon on a leather string necklace.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Katora has had a life that is always on the road. While this has given her a lot of amazing experiences -- new sights, new things, new connections -- it has also instilled in her a solid sense of independence, caution, and a bit of cynicism. She can be brash when it comes to defending herself but is also fiercely loyal and fiercely vindicated. She has a distrust of leadership, mostly because she’s seen how power can corrupt, and will absolutely break rules to do what she considers the ethical thing. Katora operates under a strong internal compass -- it may not always be the wisest or most mature of courses but she is determined and will figure it out.

Currently, Katora hates feeling like a woman in a girl’s body and wishes that puberty would catch up to her mind. There are still some adult things she hasn’t figured out yet, like her sexuality, but she figures that she’ll cross those bridges when she gets there.

History of Persona:
Katora is the oldest daughter in an expansive, interconnected family. She grew up running wild with her cousins and watching over her siblings. The freedom of a Trader family life meant that they had to be reliant on each other out there. Katora loved it. There was something about being on the road that just called to her.

Aside from the usual tumbles and occasional broken bones that followed most children, there were two large defining moments for a young Katora. The first was when her family was attacked by a pack of felines. Katora’s younger brother was terribly injured before Katora and her brother were able to fend off the creature. Of the felines killed by the caravan, Katora claimed one of the claws as a reminder of that day.

The other defining moment was when their caravan stopped at one of the Holds where a recent fire had burned away some of the fields. Katora saw firsthand how the Lord Holder of that area was slow to help his starving people, instead blaming the tragedy on their carelessness during a controlled burn, and that formed within her a bias against those in leadership.

Katora had never considered a life other than her Trader family but when a Searchdragon cornered her while they were stopped at a Hold, she decided to give that adventure a try, even if for just one Hatching.

Dragon's Name: Saoirth
Dragon's Age: 1
Dragon's Colour: Green
Next Mating Flight: m9 d15 of turn 12
Description of Dragon:
Seafoam green describes Saoirth’s coloring. She moves with a grace that is usually attributed to gold dragons, holding her medium-sized self with poise and purpose.

Like her rider, Saoirth tends to be more observant, and less impulsive than most greens. Also, less flighty and chatty. She’s selectively social, preferring to keep to herself or the company of a few more grounded dragons.

Pets

Bark, Brown Firelizard: aged 3, hatched m6 d1
Bark is named for klah bark, despite his sepia toned coloring. One of Katora's siblings also trained him to make a sort of barking sound, much to Katora's annoyance.
