Physical Description of Persona:
Zaphare is 5’4”, with a wiry build hidden beneath the modest-but-present curves of an average young woman her age. Her parents considered her attractive enough to win a respectable sort of husband, but her aesthetic is a little more “cute” than “beautiful”: a small, heart-shaped face, big brown eyes, and rosy cheeks with a pale dusting of freckles.

She much prefers the freedom to wear trousers and boy’s shirts rather than the modest dresses that her parents required of her, but doesn’t want to ditch her femininity entirely. She likes a little bit of makeup (particularly a bit of lip color), loves her long blonde hair (even if she does prefer to tie it up into a loose bun most of the time) and would like to have her ears pierced if she gets the chance.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Zaphare has always been a little bit of a problem for her parents. Energetic and precocious as a small child, she’s only gotten more willful and stubborn and troublesome as she’s grown -- particularly as their expectations for her behavior have changed as she’s transitioned from childhood into womanhood. Where once they’d have called her “clever”, now they’d say “sly”; where once they’d called her “brave”, now they’d say “audacious”. She’s outgoing, unafraid to initiate and open the doors to new relationships, but can also be a little bit domineering when interacting with people who are less inclined to take charge than she is or who won’t speak up for themselves. At the same time, she’s quick to protect those she cares about if they need it (or even if they don’t and she just /thinks/ they do) -- and to protect /herself/ when she requires it. If you’re important to her, she’ll fight for you. But if you mean nothing to her, she’ll sell you up the river to save her own hide in a second. She won’t /enjoy/ it, but she’ll do it. Sorry. Nothing personal.

Her pleasure-seeking and impulsivity is what gets her in trouble most of the time, but she’s got sharp eyes and an agile mind that are /usually/ enough to get her back out again. Even if it’s just from the frying pan and into the fire.

History of Persona:
There wasn’t anything special about Zaphare’s early childhood. She was the second-eldest child of six and eldest girl of two. Her family’s small beasthold was prosperous -- so much so that they’ve been able to expand over the past decade and her father has high hopes that they’ve still got more growing to do, yet. She was always a mischievous child, a bit of a tomboy who liked to run wild in the hold, but the older she got and the more her parents tried to rein her in to start settling into a proper young lady, the more she strained against their restrictions.

It was only a matter of time before she got herself into a pickle, really. She was sixteen when one of the Hold boys, Cabren, discovered her in a compromising position with her friend Jilli up in the hayloft. His proposal was simple enough: he wouldn’t tell anyone, and all they had to do was give him a piece of the action occasionally. The arrangement wasn’t /thrilling/ to Zaphare, to put it mildly, but she could /live/ with it, at least until she could figure out some way to squirm safely out of the deal… until she realized she was pregnant with Cabren’s child.

Now what? Suddenly her timeline for getting free of Cabren was much shorter. If she named him as the father, she might end up married to him -- and while she wouldn’t be suffering alone, as Cabren disliked her as much as she disliked him, it wasn’t the way she wanted to spend the rest of her life. But if she said she didn’t know, or refused to name a father, she’d be ostracized even further, and there was no telling where that road would end. She had just about resolved to pick some tolerable boy and lie through her teeth about him being the father, when salvation arrived in the form of Ay’ell. A dragonride /between/ to the safety of the Weyr, Search token in hand, would neatly take care of both of her problems at once.

Dragon's Name: Zollarth
Dragon's Age: 1
Dragon's Hatching Date: m3 d22
Dragon's Colour: Blue
Description of Dragon:
Zollarth is a small blue, delicately-built, long and lean. His face is a cute little wedge with plump little cheeks -- the only thing about him that could ever even remotely be described as plump. His hide is a dark, dark midnight blue, and his gait would be best described as a stalk rather than a walk: low to the ground, sure-footed, and sleek.

He's a temperamental dragon, full of emotion, most of it centered around himself with all the outward empathy of a toddler (which is to say, very little). He is territorial, possessive, and jealous -- what's his is his, but what's yours also might be his if you aren't paying attention. He's self-assured when it comes to his abilities -- perhaps even over-confident -- but also craves praise like it's water. He's particularly clingy with his rider, and will likely someday be clingy with his mates, too.
