Persona Profile: J'kyran

Writer: Jonathan

Name: J'kyran
Age: 31
Birthday: m3 d28
Rank: Wingrider, Summit Wing
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr

Physical Description of Persona:
J'kyran is about 5'11" in height, with a slim, wiry build. He's mostly muscle, the rest being bone and other various vitals. He has dark brown hair, kept fairly short, and dark green eyes set in a lean face. Whenever not in riding gear, he tends towards whatever clothing is comfortable--usually loose-fitting pants and a plain tunic, in dark greens and blue shades.

Emotional Description of Persona:
On the surface, J'kyran seems to be an outgoing, energetic young man--a bit excitable, perhaps, sometimes a little crazy, but likeable enough. He always has a ready smile for whoever he meets, and is always willing to stop for a bit of friendly conversation. That is, if he's not consumed in a fit of imagination, off in his own world. He reserves his more contemplative side for when he's alone, preferring to do his neurosing and worrying where there's noone but Karynth to hear it, protecting everyone else from his fears and insecurities.

History of Persona:
Jakyran was born the third son of a Journeyman woodcrafter, Anselem, and his wife, Jianyi, at the Woodcrafter Hall in Amethyst Cliff Hold. He led a fairly normal childhood, ducking lessons, playing with the other children in the Hall, trying harder to duck his father's attempts to get him involved in crafting projects. He preferred to spend time in his own imagination, in worlds of his own creation, filled with cunning warriors and awesome heros, watched over by the wise, wonderful dragons.

Things started to go a little less smoothly around the time he turned 14, when he noticed something about himself--while all the rest of his friends were starting to pair up with girls, making dirty jokes and trying to sneak peeks into the womens baths--he found himself noticing other boys. He'd heard other holders and crafters ranting before about the 'wrongness' of such things--and learned very quickly to hide it. Blessed with a masculine demeanor, he rapidly learned how to crack the right jokes, to respond with the correct level of enthusiasm--to all appearances, he was a bright, normal young man.

The strain of living a sort of 'double life' piled up, however--the more he tried to hide it behind a bright, cheery persona, the more it banged at him inside. He took to spending more time alone, off in his imaginations, his worlds no longer entertainment, but refuge. Just when he felt he was about to go crazy from the effort of it, he got very, very lucky. He was Searched by a rider from Dragonsfall Weyr shortly after he turned sixteen--and not long after, Impressed young, green Karynth, much to his parents suprise.

Now he no longer spends all his time off alone in his own head--he's found a world of his own, full of dragons, adventure, and danger. He still struggles with himself, sometimes, torn between the ways he was taught, and the ways of his new, better life--but at least now there's always Karynth, always something new, or at least distracting. A decent start, for a young Dragonrider.

Description of Dragon:
Karynth is a green dragon of about average size and wingspan. She is a deep, almost iridescent green from nose to tailtip--best described as one of the colors seen floating in an oil slick or a floating bubble. She has a very dry personality, and does not put up with annoyances very long--those coming from her rider least of all.
