Cyradis stretched her back and readjusted her pillows and then giving up on her attempt to get comfortable she swung her legs over the side of the couch and pushed herself up to a standing position. The healers had told her she could do it just not frequently. She wasn't on full
bedrest at this point and she failed to see the need for a constant
companion.

Ikalis was in and out almost all day long until her Weyrmate got home
and that was usually enough. But right now she was thirsty and decided to get her own drink from the table. She was supporting herself on the back of an over stuffed chair and reaching for the table when the
knock came.

"Come in," she said.

N'vanik stepped in holding a hide. "Got something interesting. Thought
you should see it." He handed her the letter.

She smiled and took the letter turning to sit back down with her glass. She was going to take a sip when it stopped halfway to her mouth. "Really?" She looked back up at him as she sat back down.

"Yep." He sat in a nearby chair. "What is with Weyrwomen abandoning
their Weyrs?"

She shook her head "I'm sure I don't have a clue," she said and reached for his hand. "I'm not going anywhere," she said hoping to
forestall him brooding over the fickleness of goldriders. "But he is
right," she said. "They need a senior gold."

"Of course you're not going anywhere. You can barely leave your weyr, let alone cross the continent." At least he didn't have to worry about
that. N'vanik shook his head. "Poor G'nir."

"Ha ha," she said in mock sarcasm at his quip and shifted uncomfortably in her chair. The baby was very active this today and pressing into her ribs. "He'll be alright," she said. "I know they cared for one another but.." well maybe it wasn't her place to share
what she knew about the Dragonsfall Weyrleader. "We knew each other in
the north," she smiled and rolled her eyes. "We can afford to send him
someone you know."

"Not that I want to." Four golds meant a steady supply of new pairs,
and N'vanik liked the idea of not just having a full Weyr, but extra dragons.

"Me either but when you think about what's available. Saibra really is
the best choice for Dragonsfall. She's ready for it N'vanik." She rubbed her temples with a sudden spike of headache. "Shall we ask her?"

"Are you sure? We could use the extra help until you're back in the
air." Sure, maybe it was selfish but he wanted to think of his own Weyr's needs first.

"Well, Saibra told me Chioneth is going to rise soon and Dragonsfall
just lost their rightful clutch to the north. I would be happier if she were here but Kapera is competent if a little scattered." She reached out to Panitath and asked her to summon her 'second. "I've asked Saibra to join us."

It only took a moment for Chioneth to tell Panitath that Saibra was on
her way. The Weyrwoman's Second came from the Dining Cavern, still
bearing a half finished cup of klah in hand. Knocking on Cyradis's door, she let herself in. She could not fathom what the impromptu meeting might be about, especially with N'vanik involved.

"Weyrleader," she inclined her head to him and then spared a smile for
Cyradis, "Weyrwoman."

Cyradis wasn't completely sure she wanted to do this. She and Saibra
had settled into a very solid working relationship but she also didn't
want to hold the other woman back just because of her own need. She'd
experienced that in her previous Weyr and wouldn't inflict that on Saibra. "Take a look," she said and handed her the letter.

Saibra read the letter quickly her eyebrows raising a bit in surprise.
When the letter from the North had come seeking experience goldriders
she had never suspected that any of the southern Weyrwomen would
accept. Now Dragonsfall was in a predicament of its own, losing not
only a Senior Weyrwoman, but a clutch as well.

"I take it you are not going," she said a little wryly, sparing a glance for Cyradis's very pregnant belly, "and Kapera's health does not allow her to go back to Dragonsfall." That left only her, "What about Lenala at River Bluff?"

Cyradis threw a significant look at N'vanik. "Lenala is good and learning under Rhosyn but I doubt she is ready to train other young women." She paused for a moment to let that sink in. "You are."

Saibra weighed that comment for what it was worth. Didn't every
goldrider secretly dream of being Senior Weyrwoman? But on the
opposite side, Dolphin Cove had quickly become like home for Saibra
and she was content with her job as Cyradis's Wingsecond. Although,
things had certainty started to feel much more crowded with Kapera's
sudden appearance.

"I will do it then."

N'vanik schooled his expression. It was greedy to hold onto four golds
when Dragonsfall was left with only one. Part of him wanted to whine
that some other Weyr could come up with a goldrider, but he knew this
was the right thing to do. He couldn't begrudge Saibra wanting to be
Senior Weyrwoman, either. "I think you'll do a fine job."

"Thank you Weyrleader." That was it then, she was leaving Dolphin Cove.
