Kapera

Cyradis had heard the day before 'Fall that Kapera had finally arrived
late in the evening. So the next day she had Panitath bespeak Loseth,
Chioneth, and Riyanth. **Please ask them to join me for lunch.**

Lunch with the goldriders... N'vanik smiled to himself as he made his
way to Cyradis's weyr. "Hey there," he called as he entered.

"Good afternoon," Kapera said as she headed to the Weyrwoman's weyr.
She nodded politely to N'vanik.

"Hello," she called to each of them in turn. She was already seated at
the table where Ikalis had set everything up. "The food is ready and
fresh drinks should be here momentarily," she smiled.

It was Saibra who came through the door with fresh drinks, having
intercepted the drudge carrying them on her way to Cyradis's weyr,
"And the good stuff has arrived," she announced as she came in and set
down the tray, "except for you, milady," she winked at Cyradis, "just
fruit juice for you."

Cyradis didn't bother to remind her of her healers orders to have a
glass of wine if she started having contractions again and took her
fruit juice with a smile. "So how was your first Fall at Dolphin Cove
Kapera."

It had been too soon for her to fly in a wing she didn't know, so
she'd worked on the ground. "Your dragonhealers are most impressive
and I was happy to lend them a hand," she said.

"I'm sure they appreciated the extra help." N'vanik started filling his
plate.

"Yes," Cyradis smiled as she took the dish N'vanik handed to her. She
spooned some onto her plate and passed it to Saibra. "I heard good
things from them about you too."

Saibra's quirked a little as she brought her cup to her lips, "Then
someone was too kind I am sure." While a vixen on the ground, Saibra
tended to be snappy, and fierce as a leader of the Wing. She was sure
the people in the Queen's Wing looked forward to the time when Cyradis
would once again be leading them.

"Will I be observing or drilling with the wing tomorrow?" Her question
was open-ended, but she looked at Saibra.

N'vanik watched the interaction, curious to see how they were getting
along. Despite how different they were, Cyradis and Saibra seemed to
get along. Would Kapera fit in?

"You should begin drilling right away," Cyradis said between bites.
"We can go over some of our common formations this afternoon."

Saibra had opened her mouth to answer, since the question had been
directed at her, but then snapped her mouth back shut when Cyradis
jumped in. She took a sip of her drink instead.

Kapera nodded. "Just show me where to go, and I'll be happy to serve."

"We have early drills tomorrow," Saibra told her, "and Meledei and I
usually stay after to get our flamethrowers cleaned and in order if
you would like to join us."

"I'd be happy to. Oh, and about meeting the rankers. Would you prefer
if one of you went with me to see the Lords?" This question was
directed at everyone.

N'vanik shoved a large bite into his mouth so he couldn't answer. He
certainly wasn't going to volunteer for that. The less time he spent
talking to Lords and Ladies, the better.

"Oh don't worry about that," Cyradis said. "Panitath is about to burst
and I know we'll have eggs hardening in the next few days. So, the
Lords will be coming to us and you can meet them all at the hatching."
She smiled at N'vanik. She hadn't missed his dodge and was amused.
Sometimes he was like a little boy when he didn't want to do
something. "How does that sound?" She flicked an eyebrow at her
Weyrleader and then smiled at the new goldrider.

N'vanik finished his bite and nodded. "Perfect."

"Sounds good to me," Kapera answered. It would save her some of the
performance anxiety.

"This is nice," Cyradis smile at her guests. It was a good group and
she was happy to be working with all of them.
