G'wen smiled as he slid in to sit beside S'vin. He could see Sh'lua
and assumed he must be one of the lecturers. He squirmed a bit,
having a mild crush on the man, and turned to chat with his friend
whilst their dragons rubbed cheeks in an affectionate greeting.
D'ale walked in to stand beside Sh'lua and nodded at him before
spotting his son in the class and smiling.
K'ale had rushed in a little late and slid into his seat next to
Cardella's usual one. He didn't see her yet but she must be here soon.
He smiled back at his Da and then stretched.
"Good morning, Class. Today we have visiting lectures, as you can see,"
E'naer said and gestured towards the men next to him. "You are going to
be divided to groups according to your lifemates colour and will learn
about your colour's special abilities and their role. Let me introduce
our quests. Some of you might know Sh'lua, rider of blue Galerith, since
he is also a Searchrider."
Sh'lua bowed and looked over the group of weyrlings. "Yes, I see few
familiar faces. If you blueriders would be so kind and follow me?"
"This is D'ale, brown Torenth's rider. He volunteered," E'naer
introduced the brownrider.
S'vin squeezed his friends' shoulders and went with Sh'lua and the other
blue riders. Little Kadeth was drawfed by even the other blue
dragonets as he walked along S'vin. G'wen waved the two off and turned
back to his Neath, who looked over at the small group of young bronzes
with entirely too much interest, in the boy's oppinion.
Cardella could not believe she was actually late! Late! She'd never been
late to any of her classes. **Awenth and her upset stomach,** she
thought with a grimace. The dear green was resting now, thankfully.
Cardella didn't think she could handle cleaning _that_ up again. The
smell had nearly been her undoing.
Sliding into the seat beside K'ale, she hoped no one noticed her late arrival.
E'near noticed her late arrival but was too busy to deal with it now.
"The bronzes will go with J'darin and the greenriders will stay here
with me."
Seeing her startled face, G'wen leaned in close and whispered, "you
okay?" In response to her lifemate's concern, Neath nuzzled Awenth,
}:sick again, sister?:{
"I'm alright. Awenth hasn't been feeling that well," she whispered back.
}:I do not like this feeling, sister.:{ Awenth moaned to Neath as she
felt her stomach rumble again.
Neath crooned at her and projected her concern to Eillispeth. }:She
doesn't feel well.:{
}: Perhaps mine should take a look of her :{ the older green replied.
"Cardella, E'naer is going to come take a look at Awenth, is that
okay?" G'wen leaned down to the small green, who did look ill.
Cardella nodded. She wouldn't mind any help. She had just thought
Awenth hadn't taken to her last meal well, but she couldn't help but
worry that something else was wrong with her dear Awenth.
"Is Awenth feeling ill?" E'naer asked, coming over to check the dragonet.
K'ale had moved with the rest of the small group of brown riders with
D'ale to the front where his da had summoned them. D'ale began to tell
them about their responsibilities within the structure of the wing but
K'ale's mind wandered to the commotion over by the green riders much
larger group.
Cardella nodded, then quickly spoke, "Yes," She could feel her face
heating a bit as everyone had directed their attention towards her. "She
was fine when we went to sleep last evening, but then in the wee hours
this morn, she started to complain of an upset stomach. I just spent the
past few candlemarks cleaning up after her."
}:I'm sorry, mine,:{ Came the contrite reply of Awenth. **It's alright
Awenth, it's not your fault. E'naer is going to help us. Make sure you
are okay.**
}:I don't feel okay.:{ Came the reply from the green. "She says she
still doesn't feel well, E'naer."
Neath crooned to Awenth and crouched as low as she could get so the
smaller green could lay up against her. In an echo of their dragons,
G'wen wrapped an arm around Cardella's shoulders and gave her a squeeze.
"What and how has she been eating?" E'naer asked and crouched next to
the dragonet. Most health issues with dragon were tied to digestation.
"Ask her to lay on her side, I need to poke her belly."
**Awenth, you need to lay on your side so E'naer can look at you.**
}:I don't like this feeling,:{ Came the somewhat grumblely reply as
Awenth's stomach made a strange sound. She did, however, move to lie on
her side as she'd been directed.
"I've only been feeding her what I'm supposed to, I swear," Cardella
told E'naer quickly. She _knew_ it couldn't be something she'd given
Awenth. How could it be?
}:But I sampled the sweet grasses yesterday.:{ Cardella whirled around
and gazed open-mouthed at Awenth. "What? What sweet grasses Awenth? Why
didn't you say something sooner?"
}:I forgot,:{ came the sorrowful reply.
"I'm not sure what else she got into. She mentioned something about
sweet grasses?" Cardella looked to E'naer hoping he could help.
"Sweet grasses? It's incredible what they try to eat," E'naer said
with bemused shake of his head. "At least it wasn't glove."
He felt around the belly. "I think we just have to wait until it
passes through naturally." He did massage her belly, knowing it would
speed up the digestation a little.
Beside Cardella, G'wen heaved a sigh of relief. Giving her another
squeeze, he muttered to her, "phew! Nothing too bad."
Over in the group of blue riders, S'vin--like K'ale--was anxiously
watching the event over with the green riders. Cardella had been
looking...frazzled...lately and the last thing she needed was a sick
dragonet. He could hear Sh'lua talking but it all went in one ear and
out the other.
K'ale chuckled and turned back to his father only to be nailed by a
question he couldn't answer because he hadn't been paying attention.
D'ale just shook his head and repeated his statement to the boys or
rather young brown riders. "You must be on your toes and watching your
wingmen for their placement and be ready to adjust at any time. Your
job is just as difficult and necessary as any bronze's. You do the
biggest share of the work. You just won't get as much glory.
"Ahem," Sh'lua tried to catch the boys attention again. "I'm sure E'naer
has things well on his hands, he is a dragonhealer after all. As I was
saying, the blues are the most agile and fastest of the male dragons.
Most of them also has the stamina for flying whole Fall, which gives
them the edge compared to greens, who can only fly half of the Fall. A
large blue can match any brown in strenght, which makes them perfect
combination of speed, agility and strenght."
S'vin glanced down at tiny Kadeth, sure that his blue would
never worry even the smallest brown in size. He was positive there
would even be more than a few greens that would be bigger than his
lifemate. Chuckling a bit to himself, he felt safe to assume that
Kadeth would be very lucky to catch Neath when she Rose. That's the
last thing he'd want, waking up in bed next to his best friend!
"Blues can also be Searchdragons, like my Galerith," Sh'lua continued.
"In short, blues are the best!"
With one hand cupped under little Kadeth's shin, S'vin looked down
into his lifemate's whirling eyes. **He's right,** he told the
dragonet. **Blues are the best!**
}:And we don't eat sweetgrass:{
