Enamra stared out at the secluded cove that was bathed in moonlight.
It had taken them nearly a half a candlemark to get here, but looking
out at the water, she knew that it had been well worth the walk. It
was beautiful! And out in the water, she saw them, the dolphins were
frisking in the water, leaping out with their rubbery skins flashing
soft light as they moved. Her eyes softened as she took the first step
out on to the sands.
She was nervous, of course. Especially with the knowledge of what
would be occurring, but she was excited too. Excited to swim with Ada
again, but also excited that the wait would be over and she could
finally put all that nervous fear behind her. At least, she hoped she
could. She looked over at her husband, then back out at the water.
"You were right. It's perfect."
"Sometimes Ada and I just swim out here together." The distance was
not recommended for the casual swimmer, however, and Thayde had not
wanted Enamra to be too tired out, since they had important plans for
the evening. The area looked different than where he and Jalodwyn had
been seen, and Thayde hoped that would help in keeping Enamra from
making any comparisons.
Ada's bottlenose appeared out of the water. "Weeeeee swiiiimmm?" she
asked with an excited trill, obviously ready to do so.
Thayde smiled. "Yes, we're coming," he said pulling his shirt over his
head and casting it aside as he stepped into the water.
The dolphin was certainly excited. Enamra smiled as she slipped out of her
dress, leaving her in her new suit to follow Thayde into the water. It
was cooler than during the day time, but she found it to be
refreshing. "Hello Ada!" She waved, then held back, content to watch
Thade for the moment as he met with his partner. Her eyes followed
him, watching the silvery light on his shoulders and hair. It played
off of the water that streamed over his shoulders and she knew in that
instant how very handsome her husband really was. The way he moved
through the water was graceful and powerful; she could never move like
that, no matter how strong a swimmer she was. So she just watched,
enjoying the view.
Ada and Thayde had a little ritual greeting between the two of them,
which involved nose rubbing and rubs under the fins. When he realized
that Enamra was watching them he smiled and motioned for her to come
closer. Her skin looked satiny smooth beneath the moonlight and he
could see the reflection of the water in her eyes. "You ready to go
for a ride?" he asked, knowing that Ada was more than ready to pull
her around.
"Oh yes," she breathed. She swam over and greeted Ada warmly,
scratching her on the jaw just like she remembered the dolphin liked.
"Thank you, Ada." She gripped the dolphin's dorsal fin, took a breath
and flashed an excited grin, then nodded. "I'm ready."
The dolphin gave a joyful lunge forward, speeding through the water
and towing Enamra with her as she did. Other dolphins from the pod
were out and they frolicked with them in a playful mood.
Enamra gave a squeal of delight, and tossed her head back as she was
pulled through the water. Laughter spilled out, echoing across the
water and over the splashes as she was pulled and seemed to dance with
the entire pod in the water.
Thayde watched them with a smile as the dolphins gave Enamra a show.
Hearing her laugh made him feel better about the rocky start they had
experienced in their marriage. Things were a lot better and he hoped
that after tonight there would be no turning back.
It seemed like the ride was over just as it began, even though Enamra
knew that Ada had merrily circled the bay. When she released the fin,
her hand cramped, but she leaned against the dolphin with affection.
"You're so wonderful, Ada. Thank you. You've made me very happy."
"Yeeeeees, trrrrreaat?" The dolphin questioned eagerly.
"No, ma'am, you know you're on a diet." Thayde answered back.
Ada blew air at Thayde, her version of a pout. "Yes, I know you are a
glutton for a good fishy treat. Thank you for coming out to play
tonight." He said, running his hands over Ada's smooth melon shaped
head.
"Ouuuuut to seeeeea nooooow." Ada trilled, flinging herself backwards
into the water and then immediately reappearing in a display of
agility.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," Thayde said as the pod began retreating.
"Aren't you going to swim?" Enamra turned to look at Thayde, half of
her face obscured by her hair. She pushed it back, then looked back
out to the pod. "I thought that's why they came, so we both could
swim."
"I swim with them several times a week. I came to swim with my wife
tonight." Thayde flashed her a grin. "They come into the cove to swim
with their young and then will head back out to hunt or join with the
rest of the pod."
"Then swim with me." There was a glint of mischief in her eyes as she
suddenly splashed him in the face. While he was distracted, she took a
breath, dove underwater and swam under the water, hidden from sight.
She bobbed up several lengths behind him, only her eyes and the top of
her head showing over the water.
Thayde laughed as he shook his head to clear the water from his eyes
and face. "Oh Enamra," he called softly as he tread water, looking
around for the sight of her in the dark waters. He caught just the
hint of her head as it broke the reflection of moonlight on the water.
"Ah ha!" He exclaimed, propelling himself in her direction.
There was a giggle. "Nope!" She took another quick breath, eyes
sparkling, and sank under the water again, moving to swim past him.
She was quick, but his height gave him a length advantage, just enough
so that his fingers brushed across her side as she dodged past him.
Backpedaling quickly, Thayde managed to curl one of his hands around
one of her ankles and snag her. "I've caught you now, my dear," he
said, reeling her in, his hands working their way up her leg.
Under the water, she kicked in an effort to escape his grasping
fingers, but found herself well and truly caught. She bobbed up,
her leg still in his hands, then wiped her smiling face as she was
drawn in closer. When she wiped all of the water from her eyes,
Enamra found herself right in front of him. "I can't swim with one
leg. "
"I'll keep you afloat," he promised, wrapping the trapped leg around
his waist as he drew the rest of her body up to his and then used his
arms to direct them back toward shallower water.
She liked the closeness of being wrapped around him, so didn't try to
break free or release him. Instead, she wrapped her arms lightly
around his shoulders and let him carry them both. Sighing with
contentment, she laid her head on his shoulder and nuzzled his neck.
Remembering how she had liked it, her lips found the column of his
throat and lightly kissed.
Her lips on his neck sent an immediate chill down his spine. "That's a
sensitive spot," he panted, his arms sliding around her as he finally
felt his feet touch the sand. He stopped when he could kneel on his
knees and still keep them comfortably in the water.
"You like it?" Her lips found the spot again, then tasted the slightly
salty skin. He tasted of the ocean mingled with something else that
she couldn't define. As she was moved in his arms and felt him settle
lower she released her legs from around him, finding her feet on the
sand. When she stood, Emamra found herself looking down at him,
still waist deep in the water for herself, but with his head just
below her breasts. "Hi." She let her fingers play in his hair around
his ear.
"Mhm, hello there," he said, a gleam in his eyes as he pressed his
lips to the smooth skin just beneath where the two triangles of her
bathing suit top were held together.
The kiss caused her heart to beat faster and she gave him a shy smile.
Her hands moved to stroke over his shoulders, spreading out to play
over the skin that gleamed wetly in the moonlight. Moonlight, she
thought, he looked much better like this, in front of her and not
with...She met his eyes. "Are you mine? All mine?"
Thayde tilted his head back to meet her eyes. "Every part of me
belongs to you." When had she become such a necessity to his life? He
had lived a long time alone and had been content with it, but in the
two months they had been married, she had somehow wormed her way into
his heart so thoroughly that his need for her went beyond just
physical.
Enamra's eyes softened as his eyes met hers, then glimmered with
moisture. She'd never been a possessive soul, but hearing him say
those words send a thrill through her. Her was _hers_. Her husband.
She bent, crouching in the water to press her lips against his. "And
I'm yours."
Sweeping her into his arms as he stood, Thayde carried his wife back
to the blanketed picnic area they had set up and deposited her gently.
His body partially covered hers, one of his knees braced between her
thighs as his hand followed the ladder of her ribcage upwards.
"There's still one part of you that I want all for myself."
The moment she was laid down, her heart began to pound in both
anticipation and no little fear of what she knew was to come. She
trusted him, knew that he could make her feel good, but knew there
would also be pain. It was the pain she feared, that stabbing,
burning pain that was so clear in her memory. But she would bear it
for him, to be his wife in every respect. As his hand trailed up her
bare side, her skin bloomed in gooseflesh and her breath quickened.
"What part?" Her voice was a whisper.
"You'll see," he said, breath warm in her ear. Thayde knew she would
be nervous. The times before when they had come close it had been
because she'd lost herself in the moment, and he was determined to
make that happen again. Curling his hand over her hip, Thayde rolled
them so that she was straddling his waist the way she had been the
night after her bath. This time there would be no interruptions, he
thought, twisting his fingers into her hair as he pulled her down for
a kiss.
"Oof! What..." The sudden shift in positions startled her, but before
she could center herself, she found herself pulled down and her lips
on his. Hands splayed over his chest, she caught her weight back on
her thighs, hovering over him. She knew his mouth, his lips, his
taste. There was a sigh, then a deepening of the kiss that made the
tension in her legs and arms ease. She remembered this, the pleasure
that had come from it. Hesitating, she lowered her hips and felt him
between her thighs.
A faint smile played across his lips as she settled above him. Gliding
his hands up her thighs, his fingers found their way to the straps at
her back that held the green top on and made quick work of untying it...
Enamra gasped into his mouth at his touch. Just the lightest touch
had sent a shock down to between her thighs and had begun that
familiar aching that caused her to press down on the clothed ridge.
She pulled her mouth from his, eyes fluttering closed as her hips
rocked against him once, then again. Shells, it felt good, the
touch and the pressure. Forgotten, her top fluttered to the blanket
and she was bare from the waist up, but at the moment she didn't
think of it.
Her skin was luminescent in the moonlight, Thayde thought as he ran
his hands, tan from many candlemarks spent in the sun, over her
shoulders and then down around the silky sides of her breasts. Tonight
there was no need to worry about scaring her off, she had said she was
ready, and Thayde knew it would take possibly more self-control than
he had to stop now. His fingers skim the tops of her bathing suit
bottoms. "Let's get rid of these," he said.
"Hm?" Enamra's eyes opened as he spoke, hazy with fresh desire. She
didn't understand him, not at first, her mind was elsewhere, but
gradually the meaning sank in and she looked down. Panting with
quick breaths and wanting nothing more than to continue what she'd
been doing, her brow furrowed. If those came off...she swallowed, her
hands hesitating as they moved to her hips. There were two ties at
the sides and with trembling fingers, she pulled them loose. The
cloth clung wetly to her for only a moment, then slipped off, leaving
her completely bare to him. She held still then, her eyes meeting
his.....
*fade*
"Enamra," he panted
her name as he lowered himself beside her and tucked her against him,
the breeze from the water feeling cool against his glistening skin.
Every muscle was loose as she was moved against him, slack and
unresponsive. Panting along with him, she opened one eye, then
another, completely and utterly stunned by what had happened, but
also so spent that she could scarcely form a thought. She licked her
lips, then her head flopped back so she could look at him. Her eyes
were half-lidded and the look of bliss on her face was almost comical.
"Now doesn't it seem stupid that we waited so long," Thayde said with
a slight chuckle, his chest rising and falling quickly as he worked to
regain his breath.
"Hm?" Enamra blinked slowly up at him, but her lips curled in a
satisfied smile. "Uh huh. Didn't hurt at all...Should have done this
the first night," she murmured, rubbing her cheek against his
shoulder. "Did I do okay?"
"You were great," he said, rubbing his hand over her shoulder. "If you
were any better I don't think my heart could take it," Thayde teased
as he looked up at the stars, feeling absolutely content for the first
time in a long time.
There was a small giggle, but then a sigh as she laid her hand on his
chest, stroking over his skin. "It felt so good. Better than I
thought it would. Is it always like that? Like your body explodes?"
"It's not always like _that_," he said, stroking her hair, "it's never
been quite like that for me before."
"Really? Why not? You've been with lots of women, right? Wait.
Nevermind. I don't want to know. " Her nose wrinkled at the thought,
finding herself jealous of the women in his past. Deciding to push
those thoughts aside, she snuggled closer to him. "Are we're going to
do this a lot?"
"It's never been like that before because I've never been with you
before," Thayde told her and then chuckled at her question. "Yes, yes
we are." He tickled her ear with his finger. "Sometimes more than once
a day."
She looked up quickly her eyes widening. "More than once a day? But I
thought it was only maybe a few times a month. Can you really do it
more than once a day?"
"When I'm seventy maybe it'll be a few times a month." Thayde laughed.
"And I could go again in a few minutes," he looked down at her. "But
we've got a long walk back, so maybe when we get home." He winked.
She looked down at what lay between them and then back up at him, then
blushed at the thought that came up. "Can you teach me how to make you
feel like you make me feel?"
"You already make me feel great," Thayde wanted her to know. "But if
you mean pleasure me, there are some things you can do, yes."
"Good. I want to learn." She then sighed, a smile on her lips "I like
this, Thayde. Even being naked. It doesn't feel bad, it feels...right.
Do we have to go home?" Her voice was wistful. "It feels so peaceful
here. Like...like we're the only ones on Pern. I like that feeling."
"It is nice," he agreed. "We should travel, just the two of us, take
that honeymoon that we didn't have."
"Travel to where? I've only been to your family's home. I've never
been anywhere else. Could we go on a ship? I've always wanted to go on
a ship. I've been on boats, but a ship, never."
The last time Thayde had been on a ship for a long trip he had ended
up shipwrecked with the Lord Holder of Amber Hills. That experience
had rather cured him on wanting to sail for long periods of time, but
he knew he would, if that was what Enamra wanted to do. "Well, there's
Jade Harbor, there's a regular route that ships take from here to
there. There's some small structures on the Windswept Islands as
well."
She thought about it, then looked up at him. "You know...I've never
seen snow. I see the ocean all the time, but I've never seen snow.
I've heard about it. Can we go somewhere with snow maybe?"
"It's funny that you say that. I have a standing invitation from the
Amber Hills Lord Holder to visit, to enjoy the snow, were his exact
words." He remembered Zathris making that offer just before they had
parted ways after being taken to Dolphin Cove Weyr for medical
treatment.
Her eyes widened. "You know a Lord Holder? A real Lord Holder? And he
invited you to stay with him?" Her mouth opened in real surprise.
"Wow... I never met a Lord Holder. Aren't they a little bit scary? "
"Zathris wasn't scary at all, but then, he's five or six Turns younger
than me and we were stranded on an island together for a while. That
sort of breaks the ice between two people, you know?"
She stared at him, realizing there was so much about him that she
didn't know. "Wow. Yeah, I guess so. I've never done anything exciting
or adventurous like that. " She half sat up on her elbow. "There's so
much I don't know. About you and about marriage." She traced her
fingers in small circles over his chest. "Do you think if we'd done
this our wedding night that it would have been the same? That we could
have talked like this?"
"I don't know," he said honestly. "It took us touching several times
before this before you were ready, you know? If we'd had sex that
night, I don't know if you would have been able to relax the way you
did tonight. It might not have been as good, which would have made
conversation harder."
"But why didn't you? It was your right to, if you wanted. I would have
let you. Anytime you wanted it, I would have let you."
"I know, but I had to know that it was what you wanted. The thought of you
just doing it out of duty doesn't excite me." Thayde explained. He
knew some men didn't care, but it mattered to him.
"But it excited you when I wanted it." She said, understanding a
little better. "So, if I want to...it'll excite you?" There was now a
gleam in her eye, understanding clicking further into place. The
thought that she could have that sort of influence on him was a rather
exciting one.
"Yes," he grinned at the look in her eyes. "Granted, just about
everything you do excites me, but you _wanting_ to definitely does the
trick."
"Hmm..." She tapped her mouth with a finger. "And you like me naked too?"
He ran a hand over her bare hip. "Oh yes."
"I like you naked too." She looked over at him. "I never thought a
naked man would look so nice, but you do." She glanced down and her
brows rose....
**fade**
Willing his sated, relaxed muscles to move, Thayde curled an arm
around Enamra and rolled them onto their side. Pulling a corner of the
blanket over them, he pressed his lips to her forehead and stroked her
hair in long, lazy strokes. "If we had been smart and waited until we
got back home, we could be laying in the bed now," he murmured in
amusement.
"I don't want to think about moving." She buried her face in his
chest, "Let's stay here. Go back in the morning." She snuggled close.
"Comfy."
He supposed there was no real need for them to go back, the weather
was supposed to be clear through the evening. "Okay," he agreed,
knowing that he would wake early anyway and they could head back then.
"I love you, Enamra."
Her voice was a soft murmur. "I love you too, Thayde." She sighed with
a smile on her lips and there was happiness in that sound as she
wrapped her arms around him.
