Description: Corowal, Felyna and children, along with Sarban, arrive
at Green Valley for their visit and are greeted by Reven, Arippa and
Qorri.
Location: Green Valley Hold
Date: month 11, day 7 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Erassa
Notes: Look for more! =) Surely all these folks can't be together
without getting in trouble? Or shenanigans ensuing!
The small caravan that was the Lord Holder's travel retinue came to a
stop in the courtyard before Green Valley's main building. There were
guards and servants. Since this was an official visit, Corowal had
brought the older children with him. Wallia and Felcoron had been left
home under Erassa's care. Corolia's and Ofewal's presence meant they
needed carriage, and more servants than he alone would have taken with
him. There was the usual confusion when the retinue stopped, guards
rushing to station themselves protectively around the company,
servants running to help people down from their mounts, or placing
step ladder next to the carriage. A stablehand took the reins of
Corowal's runner while he dismounted with the grace of an experienced
rider.
Reven felt a certain sense of pride as he stood on the steps of his
beloved Green Valley with Arippa and Qorri. Due to the diligence of
their new Headwoman, Green Valley had never looked better inside, and
Reven had been doing extra duties out with his men around the Hold to
make sure that it was in proper order as well. They had hunting
festivities planned for the men and Reven was sure that Arippa and
Qorri would be entertaining the women with... well... Whatever it was
that women did when they got together.
A very pregnant Arippa was uncomfortable to say the least. Yet she
stood with a smile next to her husband to welcome the Lord and Lady of
Emerald Falls. Her smile was especially fond for Felyna who had been
her foster mother for all those months before she'd met and married
Reven. "You are very welcome here," she murmured with only a bend of
her neck. She didn't think she could manage a curtsey in her present
state.
Qorri had met the Lord Holder a few times previous and so she nodded
to Corowal and the rest, standing slightly behind Arippa as was her
due. And that way if the Lady went into labor she could catch her. She
didn't know why on Pern she was outside parading around when she
should be near her bed.
Immediately noticing the young woman's condition, Sarban didn't remark
on it either, walking a ways behind Corowal and Felyna after getting
off his own runner. The steward usually rode circuit to collect tithes
and check in with the minor holders so this was normal for him.
Letting the others make the formal introductions, he instead took a
look at the hold's façade, approving of the obvious care taken.
"Holder Reven, Lady Arippa, I'm pleased to be here. May I introduce my
children, Ofewal and Corolia," Corowal greeted. Ofewal bowed and
Corolia made a perfect curtsy, Felyna had done great job teaching her
manners. "Arippa, you look absolutely blooming," he kissed her hand.
Reven bowed to Corowal and his lady as the pair drew close, and he
inclined his head to Ofewal and Corolia. Some day soon the Green
Valley Holder and his wife would have a child to introduce as well,
and the thought made Reven happier than he'd thought possible.
"Lord Corowal, Lady Felyna, it is a pleasure to host you here at Green
Valley." He murmured the words as he tightened his arm around Arippa's
shoulders.
Felyna lowered her hood and smiled at Reven and Arippa. She was so
pleased that their match had worked out so well. Her smile broadened
into a wink as she met Arippa's gaze and with a fond murmur of
appreciation for the children's excellent manners, she added her voice
to Corowal's. "Holder Reven, Lady Arippa... Green Valley looks
amazing. You have done a fabulous job here." Her words and greeting
included Arippa and Qorri as well, as she knew from various
discussions with her husband that Green Valley's Headwoman had made a
difference here as well. "You must be due any day, Arippa." The Lady
Holder of Emerald Falls bridged the gap between her and her former
foster daughter and she tucked her arm into the very pregnant lady's
free side. "Perhaps we should let the men go on and .. do what they
do. I certainly could use a rest myself, and I know the children are
hungry. " She smiled at Qorri standing behind Arippa, then turned a
warm smile on her husband, saying goodbye across the distance.
Since the Lady was only able to do so much these days, Qorri led the
way into the Hold, easily gathering the children behind her. She
hadn't fostered yet at Green Valley but that didn't mean she wouldn't.
It didn't take long to get the women and the children ensconced in the
guest apartments made ready for Corowal and his family with food and
access to the bathing facilities. Qorri just needed to have their
luggage delivered while the beastcrafters handled their runners.
Leaving the Ladies to their business, she disappeared to prepare for
the night's feast and the entertainment.
Reven released his wife into the care of the women as they all turned
and headed into the cool reprieve that the Hold provided. "How was
your trip, milord?" He asked of Corowal conversationally, falling in
to step beside of the Emerald Fall's Lord and his Steward.
"It was pleasantly uneventful," Corowal replied with an easy grin.
"Ofewal, why don't you come along with us?" he beckoned his son to
follow. He was twelve now, and almost done with his harper lessons. It
was time for him to learn what it mean to be of Blood.
"Yes, dad." You could see the boy's chest swell with pride, allowed to
accompany the adults.
As Sarban walked on the other side of Corowal, it was noticeable how
their eyes and skin tone matched. There were a few other similarities
but not many. Reven had addressed Corowal so Sarban didn't answer.
Rather, he was quietly observing and making mental notes as he saw
things. He remembered some of the notes from the last visit and looked
to see if they had been looked to. He spared a small smile for Ofewal,
reminded of how many turns he was and he himself still had no
children.
Arippa shaded her eyes and watched the men leave before twining arms
with Felyna and turning into the shadows of the doorway and the main
salon where she could relax. Her other hand was placed on her own back
as she waddled inside. "I'll be so glad when this is over," she
smiled.
Felyna gladly went with her former fosterling, but looked thoughtful
as they walked into the Hold. "It will be worth it in the end, my
dear. Your precious babe will soon be with us." And if there was a
hint of sadness in her tone, well it was only because it was Arippa
and she trusted her as she trusted few others.
As Reven departed with the men, he nodded politely and listened to
Lord Corowal, although his eye was really on Ofewal, who might
possibly be a consideration for Reven's youngest sister, Rayell, when
she came of age. There was certainly more to this visit than just a
hunting trip...
