Cyradis

Cyradis had been looking forward to her first outing since the baby was
born. Her figure was almost back and what wasn't was bound and tweaked
into shape under her elegant dress. Kendran was with his foster mother
at least for this evening.

}:Loseth's comes:[

**Thank you dearest** she returned and walked toward her door.

When he saw her, N'vanik's eyebrows went up as he admired her figure.
"You look good." He especially liked the way she filled out the top of
the dress.

"Well thank you very much," she smiled at his admiration. What woman
didn't want a handsome man like N'vanik to look at her like that. She
pulled a warm cloak from it's hook and carried it with her as she
brushed past him. "Ready to go, no waiting," she said proudly.

"Oh, no stalling this time?" he teased as he followed her.

"Not this time," she grinned as she walked toward Loseth.

N'vanik moved into position to help her up. "Good. I want to make sure
I don't miss anything. Rhosyn finally got her gold egg." He knew how
much she'd been hoping for it.

"I heard," Cyradis said with a smile in her voice as she concentrated
on climbing up into the passenger seat provided for her on the big
bronze. "I'm happy for her," she smiled back down at N"vanik once she
was up and strapping in.

He climbed up with the ease of long practice and settled behind her.
Before long they were both strapped in and Loseth vaulted from the
ledge, taking extra care due to his passenger. In a short time they
came out of /between/ and the bronze circled for a landing amid many
other arriving dragons.

She leaned back into the strength of her Weyrleader and when they
arrived. She leaned forward to stroke the bronze hide. "Thank you
Loseth," she said. Her sentiment was echoed by Panitath a moment later
when she also thanked her mate.

Hands reached up to help her down and she was practically lifted to
the ground. She waited for N'vanik to dismount and then put her hand
on his arm as the way was cleared for the Dolphin Cove Weyrleaders to
enter the hatching caverns.

The Stands were filling up fast but there was a spot reserved for
them. N'vanik glanced up at Rhosyn, knowing how proud she must be. He
guided Cyradis to her seat. "I wonder if we'll be lucky enough to have
a gold of our own next time."

"Wouldn't that be wonderful," she mused at the thought. Meledei was
reaching maturity in her duties and could soon be called on to handle
the wing solo. Cyradis got comfortable in her seat as the crowds
filled the stands around them. "Oh, here come the candidates," she
chuckled. "And look! an extra large group of girls. I wonder why."

"Holders are so much more willing to let their daughters go when they
think she'll end up a queenrider." N'vanik shook his head with a bit
of amusement.

"Don't I know it," Cyradis chuckled. "My father was a Master Vintner
and had always said "No child of mine," she growled in an
approximation of her fathers tone, "is ever going to be a
dragonrider." She shook her head. "But when he heard about the gold
egg, he couldn't get me to the Weyr fast enough."

"I suspect there will be some upset parents when their daughters
Impress green instead." N'vanik never dealt well with those people.
Thankfully this wasn't his Hatching so he wouldn't have to.

"Dragons do the choosing," she knew she was saying what he already
knew and simply shrugged. "But thats why that part is my job." She
smiled up at him. "You're a good Weyrleader N'vanik. Panitath usually
keeps the same mate for several flights. So, I hope we keep working
together," she hugged his arm.

"Me too." He smiled at her. "We didn't have a great start, but you're
what the Weyr needed." Cyradis had stayed.

"Thank you," she said sincerely. "So are you." So much had happened
between them, yet somehow they'd found a way to do what was best for
Dolphin Cove. She found she was quite proud of that fact. "Now let's
see how this hatching turns out," she smiled, aware there were other
eyes in the room that would have seen the affection between the two of
them. "Nothing like a gold hatching," she added with a mental touch
extended to her lifemate.

}:I love you too, mine.:{

N'vanik looked over at Rhosyn again. Maybe she'd be willing to have a
dance later. He didn't have bitter feelings toward her, he'd simply
realized he didn't want to chase someone determined to keep him at
arm's length. He hoped they could at least be civil, and he was truly
happy for her.

"I bet she'd like that," Cyradis smiled up at him. And then the long
line of white robed candidates began to troop onto the sands to
surround the eggs. "I love this part," she murmured to no one in
particular and leaned forward in her seat.
