Physical Description of Persona:
Petite and slender with curly, shoulder length auburn hair, fair skin, and crystalline blue eyes. When she smiles, dimples form which make her look to be younger than her turns.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Quiet and reserved, there are times that Eliste almost seems skittish. She is particularly shy around men, her experiences not warranting an easy trust of them. Sad memories fill her days and she uses her quilting to help work through them. She is a hard worker, rarely questioning authority and she does her best to keep a low profile.

History of Persona:
Eliste was born to a rather traditional and heavy handed father at a minor hold under Emerald Falls Hold. According to her father, a woman's place was to take care of her family. Eliste herself relished the thought of doing something a little more with her life, but her father's heavy hand and the view of women in society and general did not allow for her wishes to be granted. She did find a way to express herself. Her mother was an avid quilter and also did embroidery. She taught her daughter and the two would often get together with other women in the hold to sew and help one another. When Eliste was 18, her father gave her to a man in marriage, and Eliste was taken from her home to Emerald Falls Hold.

Helvar was twenty turns Eliste's senior and, as she found out after they were wed, not a nice person. Her heavy handed father seemed gay in comparison to the man to whom she was married. Rare was the day that went by without her husband striking her in some manner, and verbal abuse was an almost constant companion. There was little that she did that pleased Helvar. He did take great interest in her sewing, embroidery, and particularly her quilting abilities. She was never allowed to keep anything she made. Instead, Helvar took it, sold it, and often used the marks on strong drink.

Eliste found herself pregnant only a couple of months into the marriage. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Varel. One year later, Varel
was crying inconsolably due to an illness. Helvar, who had been drinking far too much, struck the child and killed her. He convinced others that the death was an accident, and Eliste mourned her child, grief almost overwhelming her. When she found out she was pregnant with a second child, however, fear overcame her grief and she slipped away one night while Helvar was in a drunken stupor, afraid not for her life, but for the life that she carried inside her.
