With the decades long arguments for Feet vs. Yards, we've done our own research and come up with our decision on the sizes for this club. You can find our information here.

Too Small

When measure from nose to tail with the numbers from various sources. Feet measurement seems to come up too small for the dragons to be effective in the current Pass (Post Ramoth, who was the largest Gold ever recorded)

Here we've laid out how those sizes would look.

SIZE in FEET - measured nose to tail. Original dragon art by Spoletta. Modifications by Suzee. These seem a bit too small given that a foot is about .3048 of a meter. We've compared them here with full grown adults and a horse (runner) based on their Earth size for comparison.

Too Big

SIZE in METERS- measured nose to tail. Original dragon art by Spoletta. Modifications by Suzee. In this case the dragons seem far to big to be supported by the infrastructure of Pern. To this size dragon a standard heardbeast would be no more than a snack snapped up in a single bite. Hundreds in the air?

This seems a little bit too expensive to maintain on a daily basis for Weyrs with hundreds of dragons to feed.

When you look at a Gold this size you find, she's the size of a 707 Jet.

However, if we measure in feet, but instead of from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail we go to the end of the haunch. We measure in the same way as horses are measured on Earth today.

SIZE in FEET - measured nose to haunch. Original dragon art by Spoletta. Modifications by Suzee. In this case the dragons seem more in line with what we envision them to be to enable them to do their duties during the fan fiction of Triad Weyrs.

Once again we've compared them to people and Horses (runners) and come up with a much more pleasing ratio.

This is the size frame we've elected to apply at Triad.
