Avians
Wherries are a native Avian inhabitant of Pern. They were named by the Exploration and Evaluation Corps team, for they look like airborne barges - squat, fat and full, similar to the vessels that were used to ferry stuff between the English isle and the European continent on old Earth.
- Wherries are very aggressive carnivores, and like most other Pern animal life, have six limbs - two wings and four legs. They have downy tufts of proto-feathers covering membranous wings. They turn aggressive if one of their kind is hurt. Males are called bucks and females are called hens.
