The Website
Creating an Account
In the top right hand corner of the screen should be a link called Join Triad Weyrs. Click on that link and it will take you to the Member Profile Sheet. Fill out that sheet and submit it to become a member.
Please see also the FAQ about the Member Profile under the subsection "Triad Weyrs Website" if you have any questions about how to fill in the sheet.
Logging In
In the upper righthand corner of the screen you should see two text boxes: "Username" and "Password".
Your "username" is the name that you gave on your Member Profile. It should be written exactly as it appears on the sheet. If this is your first time logging in, use the random password that was assigned to you in the e-mail sent after you submitted your Member Profile.
Please look in the "Triad Weyrs Website" subsection of the FAQ and go to the "Member Profile" FAQ. There you can find information on how to change your password as well as what to do if you forget your password.
Triad Weyrs Forum
You can join the forums here:
How long does it take to get approved at the forums? It shouldn't take more than a day. The reason we have an approval system on the forums is not to screen out potential members, but to keep out spammers. We have literally hundreds of member applications whose sole purpose is to promote websites and products. For that reason, we set up a system in which you have to be approved to join so we can keep Triad free of such annoyances.
If you tried joining the forums a couple days ago, but still are not approved, there are three possible reasons why that is:
- You used a name other than the one you wrote on your member profile on the site. If you signed up in this site as a member or lurker under the name "Johndoe", for example, but on the forums under the name "Jackdoe", we might have assumed you were not the same person. You need to sign into the forums under the same name.
- If you tried joining the forum, but have not filled out a member form yet, we might not have realized you were legitimately interested in joining the community.
- Your name might have been missed while we were cleaning out the forums and deleting the spam accounts.
If your forum application has taken longer than one day, please send a message to the Webbies and let us know the name you are registered under and an e-mail address we can contact you at, and we will try to get you approved as soon as possible.
Personas
5 Step Guide to Your First Persona
These rules may seem overwhelming at first but trust us, you'll have all your questions answered.
How long will approval take?
Our goal is to have a response to you within a week. Most of the members of the Persona Approval (PA) Team have several other administrative duties as well as their own posts with members that need to be replied to. We would ask that you not send the PA team e-mails asking them if your persona sheet has been processed until at least a week has passed. After a week, feel free to send the PA a polite inquiry.
Editing Persona Sheets
Go to your persona's sheet. If you are signed into the site, there should be a red tab that says "Edit Name". Click on that tab and make any corrections you need to, then hit the "Submit Profile" button. You can then review the corrected sheet. If everything is as you like it, hit "Submit Persona Profile".
Note: All edited sheets are sent to the Persona Approval team who will review each corrected sheet. You will only be contacted about the sheet if the changes you made do not fit canon.
Persona Limit?
At this time there is not a Persona Limit. However, if a member abuses this policy, such as continually adding new persona but neglecting their old ones, the Council may at some point decide to make one. Currently, though, there is no limit to the number of personas a member can have.
However, a member still on Mentorship does have a limit of three personas. Once a member has been released from Mentorship, the above rule applies. Please see the FAQ about the "Mentorship Program" for more information.
Also, there is a limit on the number of Ranking Personas a member can have. Please see the Rank FAQ under "Persona Information" for details.
Roleplay Dates
What Pern Month Is It?
A list of roleplay months and their real-life equivalent can be found here What Pern Month Is It and the current Pern Month is typically posted on the main page of the Triad Website.
Do these months ever change?
Sometimes if a major plotline has gotten bogged down, the Council will extend a month and allow posts to continue to go out.
Can I post in a month that isn't open?
You can not move _ahead_ of the timeline, but you can post up to 6 months prior to the current month. Anything beyond 6 months would need L1 approval.
What if my post is late because my mentor hasn't had a chance to approve it?
Though our mentors try their hardest to make timely replies, sometimes they can't keep on top of posts when school or work is particularly hard. If your mentor gets bogged down, you will always be given a waiver to backdate a post without penalty.
Lurkers
Can I join and read posts to see if I like it first? Yes, of course! Many people would like to just watch at first and see if Triad is really the place for them. We would invite you to join our list as a Lurker and read all the posts that come across the Triad list. When you decide you would like to join in, you can change your status on your Member Sheet to "Member" and submit a persona of your own!
Becoming a Lurker
"Lurkers" are members who receive all the club e-mails and have the same voting rights as every other member, but who do not have any persona in play at Triad. People chose to become Lurkers for several reasons. Some people want to check out the club before they choose to join in, and others just want to read the stories that are being written by other members. If you are curious about Triad, but not quite sure if this is the place for you, or if you would like to just watch for a while first, this a good choice for you. You can change your status to full member any time you choose.
You can become a Lurker by filling out the Member Profile here: http://www.triadweyrs.org/form_member.php Under status, chose "Lurker". Just as other members, Lurkers are assigned Mentors to welcome them to the club and answer any questions that they may have.
