Questions about our system for 'ranking' personas, such as Lord Holders or Weyrleaders.
Non Ranking Personas
Do non-ranking personas have posting requirements? No. The only personas that have required posting are ranking personas. For more information on rank and posting reqs, check out our Ranking Personas FAQ.
Dragonriders
- You can write many other types of personas besides dragonriders, however, we do recommend a dragonrider if it is your first persona at Triad. It guarantees you many opportunities for coposts! We've found that members have the most success in developing personas if they keep their first few personas to areas they are greatly interested in or want to learn more about. If you want to create nothing but dragonriders, feel free. If crafters are your style, we'll take them happily. If you want nothing but harpers, we've many locations for you to create them for. We try to work with our members as much as possible in this realm.
Impression Locations
- In our scenario, most Weyrs were abandoned for many turns after the last pass finished. Thread was thought to be a thing of the past and nobody expect the ancient danger to return. (This would have been Turn 1 of the Interval)
- Time on Pern is measured in length of time between Passes. Interval's were normally 250 turns.
- In Turn 1160 when the plague first struck the Southern Continent, there were five remaining Weyrholds: River Bluff, Dragonsfall, Far Island, Vista Point, and Thayan Peak which was later to become Dolphin Cove Weyr after an earthquake levelled Thayan Peak Weyrhold.
- When dragon numbers increased dramatically with a Pass approaching, there were then eight Weyrs in the South, the above plus Dream's End Weyr, Windswept Islands Weyr and Rising Moons Weyr all opened in successive Turns to relieve overcrowding. Within the next two Turns, six Weyrs in the North reopened, Igen Weyr(tm), Fort Weyr(tm), Ista Weyr(tm), High Reaches Weyr(tm), Telgar Weyr(tm) and Benden Weyr(tm) (note - this location is not permissible for personas).
Weyr | Length of turns open(Before the current Pass) |
---|---|

Dragonsfall Weyr | 1216 Turns |
Dream's End Weyr | 6 |
Far Island Weyr | 1200 |
Fort Weyr(tm) | 2 |

Rising Moons Weyr | 4 |
River Bluff Weyr | 1204 |

Persona Info
Persona Creation
- Information on how to create a Persona at Triad and all of the relevant information.
Heights
- Though the Ancients who first settled Pern may have been rather tall compared to us now, we must bear in mind that height is determined by more than just genetics. Though they still have the same genetic predisposition to being taller or shorter, over the centuries due to lifestyle and dietary factors, in Triad we assume that the average height has gradually decreased once more. Therefore, it can be assumed that the average height for a Pern female would be about 5'2" (or 157 centimeters), and for a male it would be about 5'7" (or 170 centimeters), similar to what it would have been in the 1800s on Earth since they share a similar diet and workload.
Mentions
- Can I mention/use another member's persona? Only with their permission. You can mention a public event, such as your persona witnessing a mating flight or watching promotions in the dining hall. But having your persona interact with another member's persona without their permission isn't allowed. If you aren't sure, ask. Always better to be safe than sorry.
Killing Them
- If you want to kill off one of your personas send an email to the Level One writer in your area. Level Ones are Weyrleaders, Lord Holders, or Hallmaster. If your area is without a Level One contact the Level Two.
Limits
After Mentorship
- You can have as many personas as you like, as long as you don't abuse this open-ended policy. Each persona must be introduced before the next can be approved, and ranking personas must obey rank limits. Rank limits can be found under the Rank FAQ.
During Mentorship
- While on mentorship, you can have up to 3 personas. Each persona must be introduced before the next can be submitted.
- Members on mentorship may have a L3 or L4 rank if they are able to submit an error-free persona sheet.
- Please note, it is our policy that a members first persona should not be a ranker.
Leaving Triad
- If you decide to leave Triad, for whatever reason, you are entitled to decide what to do with each of your personas. You can either put them up for adoption (with the understanding that another member may decide to write them and make them their own, at which point you lose your claim to the persona), or you can ask to have them archived in our database as an inactive persona. If you decide to come back at a later date, you would be allowed to bring back your archived personas and adopt any of your personas who are still available. Archived personas are considered "pre-approved", however you would need to follow the Persona Approval rule of one at a time, and you must post with the persona at least once before another can be brought back or a new persona sheet submitted.
- From time to time Triad conducts rollcalls. If a member does not respond to the rollcall in the given time-frame, they will be assumed to have left the club and will therefore be taken off of our member list. Their personas' status will be left to the discretion of the Council. Most will be put up for adoption. Also the Council may chose to archive any or all of an ex-members personas. Of course, the writer can at any time contact the Council and ask them to archive any of their personas who have not yet been adopted, or likewise make their archived personas available for adoption.
- Please remember that personas who are adopted by another member are no longer your own. If you leave the club without specific instructions and come back to find some of your personas have been adopted by other members, you will not be allowed to take them back or archive them. Once they are adopted, you lose all claim to the persona sheet. Consider yourself forewarned.
- Please contact the Council if you feel your personas have been put up for adoption, or archived, in error. If you are a returning member who wishes to reinstate some of your archived personas, please contact the Persona Approval Team.
