Weyrling Training Guide - Month 5

Restdays
All schedules are for the first six days of each sevenday. Weyrlings are given a restday on the seventh day of each sevenday, unless Thread falls that day. If Thread falls on the restday, the Weyrlingmaster will designate an alternate restday for the sevenday. Weyrlings must attend to their dragonet's feedings, baths, and oilings on the restday, but the remainder of the time is free time.
Month 5, Sevenday 1
During this sevenday, the dragonet will eat one meal every two to three days, tapering off until he or she is eating approximately once per sevenday in the sixth month.
Daily Schedule:
6 c/m Wake, feed, bathe, and oil dragonet. On days the dragonet does not hunt, the weyrling can take the remainder as free time.
7 c/m Bathe, then breakfast
8 c/m Class: Rescue techniques: stretcher duty, assisting with injured away from the Weyr, dealing with natural disasters.
10 c/m Class: Ropemaking for following sevenday's ropes drills. Individual meetings with weyrlingstaff to assess performance and assign extra training as needed.
12 c/m Lunch
13 c/m Specialized Training Begins (by color and Weyrlingmaster assignment)
- Blue/Brown/Bronzeriders: In-depth lectures on mating flight control and responsibilities for the male dragon's rider. Flight behavior and after-flight etiquette, with reminders that violence and force are not excused during a mating flight.
- Green/Goldriders: In-depth lectures on mating flight control and responsibilities for the female dragon's rider. Knowing pre-flight signs, dealing with a proddy dragon, and control of one's bondmate before and during the flight.
15 c/m Drills: Selecting and chewing firestone so that dragons don't bite their tongues and learn to use their second stomach. Flaming without crisping a fellow weyrling. Aerial drills continue, with practice flaming as Weyrlingmaster deems each weyrling pair ready.
18 c/m Dinner
19 c/m After dinner chores by chore group: laundry, kitchen cleanup, assisting with dragoncare for injured/pregnant riders, craft areas (if weyrling was craft-trained)
20 c/m Free time. Can be used to explore the Weyr, if dragonet is agreeable (or sleeping). Studying is encouraged during free time.
22 c/m Lights Out
Month 5, Sevenday 2
During this sevenday, the dragonet will eat one meal every two to three days, tapering off until he or she is eating approximately once per sevenday in the sixth month.

6 c/m Wake, feed, bathe, and oil dragonet. On days the dragonet does not hunt, the weyrling can take the remainder as free time.
7 c/m Bathe, then breakfast
8 c/m Weyrling Buddy Assigned. Weyrling will accompany buddy (a senior rider assigned based on color) for the rest of the month on all duties from breakfast until lunch.
12 c/m Lunch
13 c/m Experimental formations. Weyrlings design variants of current formations and attempt to implement them. Written assessments of each attempted formation will be required.
15 c/m Drills: Drills: Ropes Drills - wet, dyed ropes are dropped from above by retired riders and weyrlingstaff. Weyrlings are scored on how well they maintain formation, how many rope clumps get flamed, and in avoiding being 'scored' by dye marks on dragon or rider.
18 c/m Dinner
19 c/m After dinner chores by chore group: laundry, kitchen cleanup, assisting with dragoncare for injured/pregnant riders, craft areas (if weyrling was craft-trained)
20 c/m Free time. Can be used to explore the Weyr, if dragonet is agreeable (or sleeping). Studying is encouraged during free time.
22 c/m Lights Out
Month 5, Sevenday 3
During this sevenday, the dragonet will eat one meal every other day, tapering off until he or she is eating every two to three days in the fifth month.
Daily Schedule:
6 c/m Wake, feed, bathe, and oil dragonet. On days the dragonet does not hunt, the weyrling can take the remainder as free time.
7 c/m Bathe, then breakfast
8 c/m Weyrling Buddy Assigned. Weyrling will accompany buddy (a senior rider assigned based on color) for the rest of the month on all duties from breakfast until lunch.
12 c/m Lunch
13 c/m Drills: Catch and Fall Drills. Golds, bronzes, and larger browns practice individual catches of falling blues or greens and paired catches of falling browns, bronzes, or golds. Greens and blues practice paired catches of greens and blues. All riders learn how to catch falling riders.
15 c/m Drills: Continued Ropes Drills, including rider substitution during drills, formation changes, and /betweening/.
18 c/m Dinner
19 c/m After dinner chores by chore group: laundry, kitchen cleanup, assisting with dragoncare for injured/pregnant riders, craft areas (if weyrling was craft-trained)
20 c/m Free time. Can be used to explore the Weyr, if dragonet is agreeable (or sleeping). Studying is encouraged during free time.
22 c/m Lights Out
Month 5, Sevenday 4
During this sevenday, the dragonet will eat one meal every other day, tapering off until he or she is eating every two to three days in the fifth month. Since this sevenday emphasizes night flights, the schedule will change to accomodate the night drills.
Daily Schedule:
10 c/m Wake, feed, bathe, and oil dragonet. On days the dragonet does not hunt, the weyrling can take the remainder as free time.
12 c/m Bathe, then lunch
13 c/m Class: Star charts and night flights, sweepriding, and duties.
15 c/m Free time. Can be used to explore the Weyr, if dragonet is agreeable. Studying is encouraged during free time, and napping permitted.
18 c/m Dinner
19 c/m After dinner chores by chore group: laundry, kitchen cleanup, assisting with dragoncare for injured/pregnant riders, craft areas (if weyrling was craft-trained)
20 c/m Drills: Nighttime Aerial Drills, including rider substitution during drills, formation changes, and /betweening/.
24 c/m Lights Out
