"G'nir." N'vanik greeted the other man with a nod. "Congratulations on
staying Weyrleader."

"N'vanik, thank you. Congratulations for you for succesfull Hatching,"
G'nir replied and lifted his glas at him. "I should also thank you for
Saibra."

N'vanik chuckled. "Pleased with your new Weyrwoman?"

"She certainly hadn't wasted any time," G'nir answered with a smirk.

"I'm going to remember this if I ever need a favor from Dragonsfall."
N'vanik wished Saibra hadn't gone, but he was happy for her.

"We're always willing to help a fellow Weyr," G'nir said. The Weyrs
always helped each other.

"How very diplomatic," N'vanik said with a little laugh. Then he
turned serious. "The way Hygalia left... well, the circumstances were
different, but I know what it feels like to be abandoned."

"I was trained to be diplomat for my Blood, to negotiate trades for
good of the Beryl Plains," G'nir said. "Yes, I believe you do know,"
he added with more quiet tone.

"Were you... close with her?" N'vanik asked.

"I thought we were. Seems like it was one sided," his smile was wry
and little bit bitter.

"Ah, that's a shame. I thought it was selfish of her to take off like
that. Her duty was to Dragonsfall." Janani had left him in much the
same way, but at least he hadn't had feelings for her. Traelyn was
another, much messier matter.

"And we just had a Mating Flight," G'nir grumbled. "Poor Nirreth has
been chasing himself ragged."

"Well, he can relax now. And you can brag about how your bronze won
two Senior gold flights in such a short time." It certainly should be
intimidating to any other bronzeriders at Dragonsfall.

"Yes, that's certainly something many bronzeriders don't get to do.
Two senior golds within month," G'nir replied.

"I'm glad you and Nirreth are way over there and not in my Weyr. Might
make me nervous." It was a bit of flattery, but there was truth to it.

"And how long you've kept Dolphin Cove as yours?" G'nir replied,
grinning. Right, except for K'sedel, N'vanik was one of the longest
lasting Weyrleaders.

N'vanik thought about it. "Shards, it must be almost three turns now."
It felt like a lifetime -- it was certainly a very different life than
he'd lead before.

"And looks like it's not going to change any time soon," G'nir said
and lifted his glass. "This is for many Turns as a Weyrleader yet."

"I'll drink to that." N'vanik laughed and lifted his own glass. "I
hope the same for you, too." N'vanik hadn't talked to him much, but he
seemed like a decent guy.
