D'hol

It wasn't often he came here, but with Jeyme studiously avoiding the
weaver area and having turned those big eyes on him, D'hol was tasked
with the grim duty of picking out yarn. She'd asked for bright vivid
colors and he could only hope that she wasn't going to knit him
another scarf that would have to be lost between...again. He walked
in, peered about and ironically found the one person that Jeyme was
trying to avoid. His eyes twitched as he remembered his weyrmate's
sobs and his jaw set as he strode forward, clearing his throat.

Talryne looked up and frowned when she saw who it was. "Yes,
bronzerider?" She'd been having a good day, and now this.

"Talryne, isn't it?" His hands went to his lips, the fingers drumming
on his waist. "May I ask why you felt the need to send my weyrmate
sobbing back to our weyr, especially in her condition?" His brow
furrowed in to a deep frown.

"I didn't _send_ her anywhere. I told her I couldn't ignore how she
was hurting N'vanik." She could just imagine D'hol soothing her,
petting her, telling Jeyme she didn't need anyone but him.

"And you're supposed to be a friend?" D'hol snorted and eyed her. "So,
you know that she's emotional and decide to drive a knife in so
N'vanik will be happy, right? He's not even your weyrmate, but you
want Jeyme to ignore hers for his sake."

Talryne stood, anger heating her. "I want Jeyme to make her _own_
decisions. She's only cutting N'vanik out because _you_ told her to."

D'hol faced her easily, snapping back a quick reply "Jeyme does make
her own decisions. She took my wishes into account. You want N'vanik
to have access to a child so much? Give him one."

"Oh, so children are just things? One can replace another?" Her hand
unconsciously went to her stomach. She'd already taken a child away
from N'vanik, and the hurt made her vicious. "Does this baby replace
the one Jeyme lost?"

Eyes narrow, D'hol spoke through his teeth. "Nothing can replace our
child. And this child too is _our_ child. Not yours, not N'vanik's,
ours."

"It might be N'vanik's." She glared right back at him. "Pretending
it's not true doesn't make it so. _Jeyme_ wants him involved, she said
so. But she's so afraid of making you upset that she'll do whatever
you say. Don't you _care_ what she wants?" His possessive, controlling
attitude was disgusting.

"The seed may well have been his," D'hol admitted with a snarl, "but
the child is not and never will be. And if you were so concerned with
how Jeyme felt or wanted, you would have been supporting her, not
using your friendship, or lack thereof, to influence her decision. We
made that decision together as a couple. Maybe that's not a concept
you can understand."

Talryne rolled her eyes. "Oh, yes. I'm sure she'd be so willing to say
no to you. She said she had to promise you to keep N'vanik out. The
doesn't sound like you made a decision as a 'couple'. It sounds like
you demanded what you wanted." The more she talked, the less upset she
got at Jeyme. Instead, she was getting more worried for her. Not all
abusive relationships were about violence.

"Not that its any of your concern, but Jeyme has never had an issue
with telling me 'no' if she didn't want something." He had demanded,
true, but Jeyme had made her own demands on him for different matters,
and he had deferred to her. But that was not Talryne's concern. He
sneered openly at her. "Like I told N'vanik, the issue is not
negotiable. Jeyme can find other friends." He snorted. "Now, if you'll
excuse me, I have to find my weyrmate some yarn."

She didn't care that he was a Wingleader. Talryne shot him a rude
gesture. "Go then." She was going to keep an eye on Jeyme --
indirectly.

He snorted at the gesture. "Childish. I should have expected you'd be
so." He turned on his heel and left, footsteps jarring.

**As if you aren't.** Talryne looked at her loom, wondering if she
could calm down enough to focus.
