Better than Hearts and Flowers

Writers: Heather, Miriah
Date Posted: 11th August 2014

Characters: K'lvin, Bahji
Description: K'lvin gives Bahji a gift
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 14 of Turn 7

K'lvin was nervous. He wasn't the hearts and flowers kind of guy but
he wanted to go out of his way to do something special for Bahji. He
wanted her to know that her being his weyrmate meant something,
something more than just a live in girlfriend. If Bahji were weyrbred
K'lvin wasn't sure if he would have gone through with the gesture, but
since she was holdbred he thought she would understand it better.

"Good evening, my love." His voice was vibrated warmly as he came up
behind her in their weyr and placed a kiss atop her head.

Bahji leaned back to rest her head against him and gave a smile.
"Hello. I was just making some tea. Do you want any?"

"No thank you." He had never been much on tea, but his last weyrmate
had kept all different kinds in the weyr. K'lvin was a man of simple
tastes- klah and ale. "Had a good day?" The bronzerider asked casually
as he went and took a seat on the couch.

She nodded as she carefully poured a cup of hot water over her tea and
set it back on the stove. Her movements were precise and measured,
every motion practiced. "Yes. I started on a new blanket. I think I'll
send it to Gelira for her baby." She picked up the cup and silently
counted the steps in the direction of his voice. He was on the couch.
Her bare feet padded silently over the stone floor, and Burst appeared
overhead, plopping down on her shoulder with delicate grace. She
patted him and moved to sit beside K'lvin.

The little bronze hopped off her shoulder and ambled over the back of
the couch towards K'lvin, snuffling at his ear. He sat back, pawed at
K'lvin's shoulder and crooned, then looked over at the cabinet. He
pawed again, then nuzzled K'lvin's ear.

The bronzerider chuckled and pushed up from the couch, "I am sure
Gelira would enjoy that." He told Bahji as he retrieved a couple of
treats from the cabinet and then brought them back to Burst.

K'lvin retook his seat, and as he did he tenderly tucked a tendril of
Bahji's hair behind her ear, "I have something for you. A surprise,
you might say."

Burst wasted no time in stuffing the treats into his mouth, noisily
chewing and promptly forgetting about K'lvin and Bahji as he tried to
chew.

Bahji grinned at the sound, easily able to figure out what had
happened. "You're going to spoil him." She then turned towards him and
sipped her tea, a smile playing around her mouth as she smothered a
giggle. "You said that two nights ago and neither of us got much
sleep." She tucked her feet under herself and leaned her head against
his fingers. "What is it?"

Fishing the pouch from his pocket, K'lvin opened it and drew out two
silver rings. One was more delicately made and looked as though tiny
silver threads had been woven together to create the ring. He liked
the way the ring felt, and that was mostly the reason why he got it
for Bahji. He knew that jewelry was probably not very important to her
since she couldn't see it, but he wanted this to be different.

"This." He took her hand and placed the ring in her palm.

Putting down her cup of tea, her hand immediately cupped the slight
weight and her other slowly ran

her fingers over it. Her face showed her surprise as sensitive finger
tips felt the texture, the design. "Oh..." she breathed softly. "It's
so beautiful." She was able to make out the intricately woven metal
easily. Her fingers trembled. "K'lvin...you didn't have to get me
anything..." Her eyes grew moist. "I love it."

K'lvin smiled as he watched the expression's flit across her face, "I
got one made for myself as well. Weyrmating isn't the same as
marriage, I know, but..." He reached out, took the ring gently from
her, and then slid it down over her ring finger, "Now everyone will
know that we belong together." K'lvin did not know of many
dragonriders that wore wedding bands, in fact, he could probably count
them on his left hand. He didn't care what people would think when
they saw it on his finger.

Her mouth dropped open as she realized what it was for. Her lips
worked silently, her fingers twitching as the ring was slid on to her
finger. She gave a hiccupping breath, then flung herself forward,
grabbed his face and pressed kisses all over it. "I love you. I love
you. I love you, you wonderful, wonderful man." She wrapped her arms
around his neck and pressed her cheek against his, her own moist with
happy tears.

"I love you too." He said with a laugh as he wrapped his arms around
the weaver, inhaling her scent with a deep sigh of contentment. "I am
glad you like it. I was worried...." K'lvin trailed off and gave a
little shrug, "Worried that you would find it a silly gesture for a
dragonrider to make."

"No. No it's perfect." Bahji clung to him. He had taken her Hold
background into account; she had grown up with the idea that she would
never marry and now, she had a marriage ring. It wasn't a hold
marriage, but for her, it meant just as much if not more. It was a
husband, or the better term weyrmate, of her choosing and one she
adored. "I love it. It means so much to me, you just don't know..."
She wiggled to move into his lap, her favorite cuddling position,
keeping a wide smile on her mouth.

K'lvin wrapped his arms around his weyrmate. He loved the way her
slight figure felt in his lap. She fit perfectly against him, as if
they had been made to hold one another. "Good." The silver ring felt
foreign on his finger, but he had no doubt he would get use to it as
he had no plans of taking it off, "I never dreamed when Kylena ran
into a weaver's ball of yarn and nearly jerked the needles from her
fingers that I was meeting my future weyrmate."

Bahji laughed softly. "Neither did I." It seemed so long ago, but in
actuality, it really hadn't been that long, had it? "I was so annoyed,
but it was kind of funny too." She then got a mischievous look on her
face. "So...no hanging around flight rooms for me, right?"

"That's right, young lady." K'lvin leaned in and nipped at her ear
with his teeth, and then growled playfully, "Or I will paddle your
behind," one of his hands slipped down the ladder of her ribcage, to
settle on her hip, "which I think I would thoroughly enjoy."

"Hey now, that's how you first got me, you know." She giggled at the
nip and growl, but his next comment made her brows rise
immediately."Paddling? Why on earth would you enjoy that?" She huffed
and then sat back with a wry smile. "You are an odd, strange man."

K'lvin flashed a grin, which reached even into his voice as he spoke,
"You would enjoy it too. I guarantee it." He lifted one of her hands
to his lips and pressed a kiss to her knuckles, "And I remember
exactly how I got you, as you put it, which is why I don't want anyone
else getting you either. I want you all to myself."

"Considering I never enjoyed that sort of punishment when I was a
child, I doubt it." She poked his chest and then smiled as she felt
his lips on her knuckles. "Good, because I don't want anyone else and
I won't have anyone else, either. I'm all yours."

He wanted to assure Bahji that his form of paddling was not punishment
at all, but he simply kissed his way up her arm, over her shirt, and to
the crook of her neck, "You smell delicious." There was a husky note
of desire in K'lvin's voice as he inhaled, and then began pressing
kisses down the curve of her neck.

The kisses tickled and she squirmed against him. "I smell like tea and
yarn." She giggled as he hit a sensitive spot on her neck and
shivered. "You're insatiable, K'lvin." She closed her eyes and tilted
her head back. It seemed as though he couldn't get enough of her, but
she was hardly complaining. She could barely get enough of him and
making up for lost time was a most enjoyable activity. She shifted on
his lap, pressing down with intent, then lightly scraped her nails
over the back of his neck.

"I can't help it. Stop being so irresistible." The words were spoken
against her skin as he kissed the column of her throat and moved to
the tender junction just beneath her ear. The way she moved against
him sent a shivery wave of desire washing through him.

Her voice became a breathy sigh. "Natural talent..." She suddenly sat
up to pull away, then moved to straddle his lap. "Ask me anything,
K'lvin." She brushed her lips over his cheekbone, then his jaw and
then next to his ear. "Tell me, weyrmate..." she whispered against his
ear, lips brushing his earlobe. "What would you love for me to do?"

K'lvin liked that and with his lips close to her ear he replied, "Strip for me."

She blinked at the request and slowly slid off of his lap. She backed
a few steps away reached behind her to slowly draw out the laces at
the back of her dress. Loosened, she unbuttoned the neck to leave it
loose, then slid the dress down one arm, then the other. She took a
slow breath, let the dress fall to her waist and with a shimmy of her
hips, wiggled it off of them and stepped out of the pool of cloth at
her feet. Bare now, she lifted her arms and stretched.

In K'lvin's eyes everything about Bahji's slender form was perfect. He
drank in the sight of her standing before him until he couldn't stand
it any longer. Standing the Wingleader wrapped an arm around her waist
while his other hand ran down her jaw and cupped her face, "You are
beautiful." His appreciation of her was evident in his voice.

She sighed softly at his touch and nuzzled her cheek against his palm.
She loved the feeling of his hands: warm, slightly rough, but so
gentle. She made a murmur as she turned to kiss his palm and then
spoke softly against it. "What else would you have me do?"

The Wingleader bent and scooped her into his arms, "Just let me love
you." He said as he carried her to the bed that they shared.

As she was laid on the bed, she stretched luxuriously. "But you
already do that." Her smile showed her both her willingness and the
simple joy in the situation. "And you do it very well."

"Well if you would rather I just lie here and let you do all the work,
I would be more than happy to let you." K'lvin's voice was warm as he
pressed his lips to her neck.

She smiled and gripped his shoulders. "Then lay back."

K'lvin pressed a hand to her back and easily flipped their positions
so that he was lying on his back with Bahji straddling his waist. He
liked the view better like this anyway.
