Description: A walk turns into something more
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 9 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: D'arvn; Part 1 of 2
At D'arvn's prodding, she finally walked out of his weyr, moving
carefully along the wall of the stairs. The cool, fresh air felt good
and Burst seemed to be in a pleasant mood, humming softly on her
shoulder. He guided her down, content emotions pouring off of him as
she took one step at a time. The sunlight hit her and she paused at
the warmth, soaking it in even as she tugged her shawl more firmly
around her shoulders to ward off the cooler air. She took a moment
then continued, finally coming to the end of the stairs.
Her legs ached from the sevendays of inactivity. Perhaps the walk
would do her some good. Burst chirruped his agreement to her thoughts
and sent an image of a pathway before them. She offered him a smile,
patted the bronze and began to walk slowly along the pathway.
}:Burst just informed me that he and the weaver are walking through
the Weyr.:{ Xmrenth informed K'lvin, sending him an image passed from
the bronze firelizard.
K'lvin looked down at the report he was writing and started jotting
down words in overtime, his hand nearly cramping before he was
finished. Folding the report and shoving it into his top drawer, the
Wingleader leapt to his feet and took off down the corridor. He was
happy that Bahji had finally decided to leave D'arvn's weyr, only, he
wished that she had taken someone with her.
"Bahji?" He called her name as he saw her form at the end of the
hallway, Burst dutifully flying overhead.
Bahji turned immediately, then sighed, turning her head up to Burst.
"We're going to have to have a chat about you tattling." Burst gave a
little chortling sound before flying over K'lvin's head and then back
to Bahji, settling on her shoulder with a smug grunt. She turned back
to K'lvin." Hello, K'lvin."
"I didn't know you were going to be out and about today. Are you
heading anywhere in particular?" K'lvin asked as he fell into step
beside of her.
"I didn't plan it." She walked quietly, Burst giving her occasional
images of what was in front of her. "I was just walking. I needed to
stretch my legs, I suppose."
K'lvin shoved his hands in his pockets as he strolled casually beside
of her, "It is a good day for a walk," he commented, "the Weyrbowl is
filled with sunlight right now. Just a few whispy clouds were inching
by the last time I was there." He wondered if he could convince her to
go that far.
She gave a 'hmm' of acknowledgement before speaking softly. "It would
be nice to feel the sun, I suppose. It's warmer than here in the
shadows." And she hadn't brought a jacket, just her shawl. She offered
her hand to K'lvin.
Relieved that Bahji had offered her hand, K'lvin took it gladly and
escorted her the rest of the way down the corridor and out into the
bright sunlight of the Weyrbowl. The stone floor drew the heat from
the sun and made it significantly warmer than it had been in the
shade, "Nice and warm." He said with a smile.
Though she was mostly blind, Bahji could still tell the difference
between light and dark. As they walked into the sun, she flinched a
little before she got used to the sense of light around her. The
warmth, however, brought a pleased smile to her face and she paused to
take a deep breath. "It is nicer."
He studied her face as it was turned up to the light and he found
himself smiling. The Wingleader was just glad that she was back at the
Weyr where she belonged. A scream echoed around the Weyr, and K'lvin's
eyes lifted to the far side of the Weyr where a green had darted into
the skies, followed by a pack of males.
"A green is flying," he described for Bahji, "she has a nice little
pack of blues and browns behind her. Xmrenth says she is young."
Her head turned to follow the sound of the green, but couldn't place
it due to the echo. She went still and spoke softly. "He's not chasing
though."
"No, he says his ledge is his lover today." K'lvin chuckled a little
at his bronze's words as he relayed the message. He was secretly very
glad that Xmrenth showed no interest in the rising green, as he had
more important things to take care of than a mating flight. Namely,
the young lady standing beside him.
Bahji's lips lifted slightly. "He's a bit of a poet today, but it
can't make it easy on you." She took a soft breath and closed her
eyes, ears seeking out the sounds while she tried not to think about
the fact that it was after a greenflight that they had first... She
swallowed. It had been a wonderful afternoon and was a fond memory.
"I am fine," K'lvin assured her, "as long as Xmrenth is not in the
flight itself the green ones don't really phase me much unless I let
them. They happen so often that you have to learn to sort of ignore
them or no work would ever be done." There was a smile in his voice.
She nodded slowly, hearing the smile in his voice. "It's very vague,
but it's still there, isn't it? Just a faint sensation." She turned
towards the sound of his voice. "Do you...do you ever think about it?"
The 'it' she mentioned wasn't direct, but considering the topic, it
could have only meant one memory in particular.
K'lvin wasn't quite sure what Bahji was referring to- mating flights,
sex, all of the above?
"It?"
She sighed and shook her head. "Never mind."
It was something big and important and he was suppose to know, but he
didn't! **Come on, K'lvin, use your mind, man!** But he couldn't
imagine what 'it' she was talking about, "Bahji," his voice was nearly
a beg, "don't do that. Tell me. I am a man, and not a very smart one
at that."
Her delicate brow furrowed as she tilted her head. "You're smart,
K'lvin. I'm just not being clear." She pushed a lock of hair from her
brow. "I was talking about the flight that we uhm...well..you know."
**First had sex.** He mentally finished, and couldn't help the pleased
smile that came across his face. At least Bahji couldn't see it.
"Ah, that flight." K'lvin said instead as he looked at Bahji's face,
"And, Bahji, I would be a liar if I said I didn't think about it. I
think about that, and about the night we went swimming in the
moonlight and then laid on the beach together...."
Her cheeks pinkened immediately and she tugged her shawl a little
tighter around her. It was warm, but she still felt cool from her
flush. Her voice was a whisper. "I think about it too."
"I am glad," he said, putting a hand to the small of her back, "they
are good memories."
Her skin prickled at the touch and there was a quick intake of breath.
Her hand lifted to touch his chest. "I miss it sometimes."
K'lvin did not want to admit how relieved those words made him feel,
"Aye, me too." He said, hope beginning to take seed within the
bronzerider that perhaps some day he and Bahji would be able to
rekindle what had been before... Well, before he had screwed
everything up.
Hesitantly, she lifted her hand and placed it against his cheek. Her
thumbs stroked over his skin, then his mouth. "I miss you. I miss what
we had."
He leaned into her touch, "I am just waiting for you to tell me it's
okay, Bahji. That you are ready." K'lvin wouldn't make a move until
then.
She bit her lower lip. "I don't think...I mean...I want to sometimes.
But then I think about what could happen and I can't go through it
again." She swallowed, her fingers still touching his mouth. "But I
miss being touched. I miss it so much."
And boy did K'lvin miss it too. He had found himself less than
interested with other women outside of flights when Bahji left and now
she was back but.... "We can touch and not have sex." He suggested
lightly.
Her breathing quickened and her head lifted, her other hand coming up
to grip his shirt. Should she? Faranth, she missed it. She missed so
much and despite everything that had happened, she didn't want to
dwell on it any more. She couldn't and remain sane. "Kiss me then."
