Settling In Together

Writers: Heather, Miriah
Date Posted: 28th July 2014

Characters: Bahji, K'lvin
Description: Settling in is relatively easy.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 11 of Turn 7

"And that is the last of them." K'lvin said as he set the last box of
Bahji's things down in the floor of his weyr. It had been _many_ a
Turn since he had lived with a woman, but he figured it was like a
riding a dragon, something you never forgot. Granted, his new weyrmate
did not have a _lot_ of things like some women, but he hoped that with
time she would feel free to do what she saw fit with their weyr.

She unknowingly echoed his thoughts. "At least its not too much."
There had only been clothes, some soft coiled rugs and her weaving
materials. But she didn't even know where to start. Even her quarters
at the Weaver crafthall were spartan. She didn't see the sense in
decorations if she couldn't see them. The rugs however were for
texture; she loved feeling the coiled designs on her feet. "You'll
have to show me where you keep your clothes, K'lvin. Mine shouldn't
take up too much space. They're mostly dresses."

He wondered if he would be able to talk Bahji into a pair of those
tight fitting riding leathers that some women wore... Shaking his
head, he took one of her hands, "This way milady." He led her over to
a wardrobe that he pulled open, "I just keep my tunics hanging in
here, my pants are folded in the drawers below. I will push all of my
shirts to the left, so you have the whole right side of the wardrobe
for you."

"Oh, I don't think I'll need that much room." She reached with her
fingers and examined the space he indicated, then paused, blinking.
She sniffed and turned her head, then slowly smiled. "My clothes are
going to smell like you. I like that idea."

K'lvin curled an arm around Bahji's waist and growled playfully in her
ear, "Good, because I like people knowing you are mine." He pressed a
kiss to her ear.

Her face heated up as she elbowed him gently in the ribs, but kept a
smile on her face. "Actually, you smell like other riders, mostly. I
doubt only I'd know the difference. It's just the faintest hint of
just you." She batted her lashes. "So, honestly, most people wouldn't
know whose I was."

"So should I leave more visible marks on you then so people know?" He
pressed kisses along her neck suggestively, and then drew back, "But
it doesn't matter if other people know. We know." K'lvin gave her rump
a pat as he walked back over to her stack of boxes and opened another
one to pull out some of her braided rugs. He was fairly sure he'd end
up tripping over one of the blasted things in the middle of the night,
but if they made her happy, he'd cover the whole floor with them.

She gave a squeak and batted at him before he walked away. "Don't you
dare." She offered him a smile and tilted her head listening to him as
he walked, then followed. "Besides, people will figure it out anyway."
She stopped and then frowned. "K'lvin, what about your daughter? We
need to tell her."

"We will," K'lvin said as he laid a rug down and stared at it, not
really sure if there was a particular way to lay a rug, or if she
wanted them in particular places. "She'll be fine. After all, she took
to her second-father, Cylena's new weyrmate, pretty quickly." He
thought the man a sniveling little wherry himself, but his opinions of
his ex-weyrmate's new weyrmate weren't really needed. "Kylena will be
thrilled to have a woman around. Daddy is not very good at having tea
parties and braiding hair, or picking out clothes for dollie."

"I think I can do all of those things, though maybe not picking out
clothing. I could still see when I had dolls." She walked over to a
box and knelt, carefully feeling around until she pulled out a thick
and far more plush rug. It was extremely soft against her skin and was
one of her favorites. "Can we put this by the bed? It's nice to feel
in the morning."

"Of course." K'lvin agreed and then, "Do you want to put something to
the entrance of the weyrledge just so you know... You know, that it's
there." He had the horrible mental image of her tumbling off.

She blinked and turned her head towards the sound of his voice. "I
don't go out on the weyrledge without Burst. And I know how many paces
it is to the edge." She paused for thought. "But if it will make you
more comfortable, then we can do that."

"Thank you." K'lvin had no doubt that she could take care of herself
but it did make him feel better. Clothes, rugs, and weaving supplies
had all been unpacked and placed around the weyr. He had to admit that
he liked the way things looked, her stuff mixed with his.

Nodding, she went back to her body only to find it empty. She rose and
put her hands on her hips, uncertain as to what to do next. What did
weyrmates do when they were alone...besides the obvious? The weyr was
already clean and she didn't really have to cook for him. She tucked a
stray strand of hair behind her ear. She could weave, but she didn't
feel like it right now. "Well...what now?"

"Well, I should look at a few reports in my office," K'lvin said while
approaching Bahji, one hand reaching out to take her waist and draw
her in. "But I could be convinced to do them tomorrow in favor of
giving my weyrmate a 'move in' massage."

"I don't want to get blamed for you slacking off on your work,
Wingleader." She replied primly, but still nestled up against him.
After so many sevendays of being miserable and lacking in physical
comfort, she absorbed and exulted in his open affection. Though she
still had her moments of depression, K'lvin managed to keep those at
bay for the most part. It felt good to just feel good. "I like you
calling me that."

"Me too." K'lvin agreed, pressing a kiss to the top of her head before
pulling away, "I guess I will go get those reports done... But I am
coming back for that massage madam."

Bahji smiled. "Good. You do that."
