Now that Bahji was allowing him to see her again, K'lvin had sworn to
himself that he was not going to do anything to screw it up and he
certainly wasn't going to pressure the young weaver in any form or
fashion. And that meant sex, too. K'lvin had enjoyed making love to
Bahji before everything had gone haywire, but he accepted that his
decisions had changed the very nature of their relationship. As long
as she allowed him to be close by, K'lvin would accept that for the
blessing that it was.

Today the Wingleader had swung by to pick a few flowers before heading
to see Bahji had D'arvn and U'fouinn's weyr. He wasn't stupid, he knew
that Bahji couldn't see the flowers, so he had purposefully spent time
picking out flowers that _felt_ good to the touch and were fragrant.
Things she could enjoy.

Knocking on the weyr door, he smiled when Burst appeared, "Good
afternoon." He held up a piece of jerky.

Burst took the jerky as his due, chirped and then popped back into the
weyr. After a few moments, the door opened to Bahji standing before
him, the little bronze on her shoulder with his cheeks stuffed
comically full. "Hello K'lvin." She opened the door wider to allow him
in. "Come in." She stepped back and padded back to the couch, curling
up at the end with her feet under her.

K'lvin shut the door and followed Bahji, "I brought you something." He
told her, reaching out for her hands and leading them to the bouquet
of flowers.

Her brow knit as he took her hands but she felt the flowers and
blinked, her expression relaxing. "Oh." Bringing them to her face, she
inhaled the sweet scent and finally a smile lifted her lips. "Thank
you." She felt the petals with a gentle hand, sliding over them. "What
color are they?"

"Purple and white," he told her, and then added, "well, as purple as I
can tell. I am a bit colorblind, sometimes I get my purple and blues
mixed up." K'lvin chuckled a little, taking a seat on the couch beside
of Bahji.

She continued stroking the petals with a light hand, feeling the
softness of them. "They're beautiful. Thank you. They'll be as purple
as I want them to be." She rose. "I have to put them in a vase."

K'lvin nearly stood to do it for her, but caught himself and sat back
down on the couch. Bahji was a big girl, and even though she was
blind, she could, and wanted, to do it herself, K'lvin knew. Instead,
he decided to try and make some light conversation, "How are you
feeling today?"

She moved through the weyr slowly. She'd not been out in the common
room too much, but was slowly getting used to the layout. She didn't
figure U'fo or D'arvin would mind the flowers, either. Finding a glass
suitable for a vase, she filled it with water and took the time to
settle the flowers into the vase before she answered. She still felt a
little cautious around K'lvin and part of her knew she had cause to,
but part of her wanted the simple enjoyment they had had in their
friendship. Would it ever be like that again? "I'm alright. D'arvn
made sure I had a big breakfast. I think he's trying to fatten me up."

The bronzerider's respect for D'arvn went up a notch, "I am glad he is
here to care for you." He said as he watched her. She was far too
skinny but he didn't want to make things any more awkward between them
by telling her that. If was his fault after all.

Bahji smiled a little. "He's pushy and stubborn, but he means well."
She stroked the flowers one more time before moving carefully back to
the couch. "He worries." She sat and curled her feet back up under
herself. "Thank you for the flowers, K'lvin. You didn't have to get
them for me."

"No but I wanted to." He would do anything to make her smile more.
K'lvin reached a hand out to stroke Burst as he thought about his next
words, "I would have visited you when you left, you know. I worried
about you but I wanted to respect your privacy. I figured I was the
last person you wanted to see."

"I didn't want visitors." She admitted. Burst crooned and butted his
head against K'lvin's hand. "I didn't want to see anyone." Her hands
fiddled with the folds of her skirt. "Besides, after...he visited, I
wanted them even less. But I had to come back. It...it was worse at
home." Her lips twisted. "Damaged goods and all."

K'lvin's heart twisted and he reached out and put a hand on Bahji's
shoulder, "I'm sorry." There was nothing damaged about Bahji, only
wounds that needed to be healed. "But I am glad you are back."

She turned towards him and hesitated before she laid her hand on his.
"It's not your fault. It's the choices I made." She sighed and turned
away again. "So am I but..." She shook her head. "It won't be the
same. I can't make those same mistakes again. I can't do that to
myself. The teas...they don't work and I can't go through..." She
shook her head. "I don't want to risk having to do that again. I
won't."

The word "teas" struck a memory up in K'lvin of a certain Weyrling who
had danced with glee over Bahji's departure and who had also mentioned
that the "blind girl" wasn't smart enough to take her teas correctly,
"I support whatever decision you make, Bahij, but are you sure you
took the right teas?"

"I got them from the infirmary, K'lvin." She curled her knees up to
her chest, wrapping her arms around them. "I don't take them any more.
There's no point." She shrugged. "I'll probably just keep them packed
or give them back or something."

"Right." K'lvin didn't push the topic further. He was still on thin
ice with Bahji he knew and he didn't want her thinking he was just
looking for sex. "How long do you plan on staying with D'arvn?"

She shrugged. "He says until I'm feeling better and on my feet again.
I don't want to over stay my welcome, so I'll probably ask for
quarters again in the craft area." She turned to him. "Why?"

It was on the tip of K'lvin's tongue to offer Bahji the spare room at
his place, but then he quickly tamped down that urge. He had to prove
he was trustworthy first. "I was just curious."

Bahji frowned a little and rubbed the side of her head. "I hate
feeling like this." She rested her chin on her knees. "I want to be
able to laugh again."

K'lvin reached out and gently tucked a strand of her hair behind her
ear, "I think first you need to focus on getting healthy, physically
again, your body can only handle so many thing at once. And once that
is accomplished, I think you will find yourself feeling better
emotionally as well."

She turned her face towards him. "Why can't I hate you, K'lvin? Part
of me really wants to. The other part..." She sighed.

Oh how he deserved the hate, he knew it, but instead he responded
with, "I like to think it is because I am so darn lovable, and because
I love you, Bahji."

Her lower lip trembled. "That's why I can't hate you, you big jerk."
She scooted over and without asking, because she knew she could,
curled up on his lap . Resting her head on his shoulder, she took a
long deep breath. She didn't know why, but something about curling up
like this with him brought so much comfort.

K'lvin opened his arms and enfolded Bahji in them, pressing a kiss to
the top of her head. It always felt right when they were like this
together, and he was glad that he could at least provide some measure
of comfort for her, "Xmrenth says he will take you for your favorite
fish when you are feeling up for it."

Bahji went still in his arms and snorted softly. "You just want to see
me naked again."

"I am still a man, that hasn't changed," he confessed, "but we can eat
fish without taking our clothes off." There was a smile in his voice.

She took another long breath, her full weight relaxed against K'lvin.
"Maybe in a few days." It was more than she had been willing to do
especially as she'd been holed up in the weyr since her arrival.
"Right now, I just want to stay like this for a while."

K'lvin cradled her smaller form against his, "We can stay like this for as
long as you like."
