Saibra

Cyradis pushed her plate aside for the drudge to clear when she
returned and pulled the stack of hides back in front of her. She was
expecting their interim headwoman for their weekly meeting fairly soon
and had wanted to get some things noted before they went over the
Weyrs needs.

Not only that but she was going to need to meet with Saibra soon to
transfer even more of her duties. To say that she was pleased with her
'second would be an understatement and she was not one to hold back on
the praise in favor of keeping a subordinate off balance.

"Come in," she called not lifting her head from her notes when she
heard the knock at the door of her weyr.

"I found this one outside your door." Saibra's vibrant voice carried
into the weyr as she ushered Chaysea into the Weyrwoman's quarters.
Saibra was all about respect and following the rules, but once she
became acquainted with someone there was no hint of reserve.

Chaysea ducked her head respectfully to the Weyrwoman, and had done
the same when they had bumped into one another outside of Cyradis's
door. She was holdbred through and through and was sure she would
never be comfortable enough to call either goldrider by their first
name.

"Come on in both of you," Cyradis smiled. "Saibra this is Chaysea, and
Chaysea... Saibra." She looked back at Saibra. Chaysea is our
Headwoman for a trial period. If she feels she can fit in." Then
looking back at Chaysea she smiled again. "Saibra is my Wingsecond and
will have to handle the majority of my duties while I'm laid up."

Saibra seated herself as Chaysea did the same. The Weyrwoman's Second
crossed one long leg over the other as she regarded the Weyrwoman,
"So? Are you still sore from where I am sure K'deren whipped you for
overworking yourself?" She grinned, and winked.

Chaysea was surprised at the question, which she considered incredibly
personal and not something, at all, that one should ask a superior.
Still, the congenial look on the dark haired goldrider's face made it
seem like one friend prodding the other to "dish" about the details.

Cyradis chuckled, "No, but he did threaten to tie me down if I didn't
obey the healers orders. He's been great with Panitath too." She'd
marveled at the energy he put into handling his duties as wingsecond
and the care of not just one but two dragons.

"Cyradis is a lucky one," Saibra said to Chaysea, "I am convinced she
is weyrmated to the best man in the Weyr." She smiled a bit, everyone
could easily see how much K'deren loved Cyradis.

"Panitath complains that his touch isn't just right but then she
complains to me about everything when she's egg heavy." Cyradis
smiled.

}:I do _not!_ I only complain about those things that bother me.:{

**Mmhmm, I know**

}:Right now my couch is too lumpy.:{

**You do realize you'll have to get up for me to pad it more don't you.**

}:Never mind,:{ the grumpy gold huffed from her ledge

Chaysea didn't know anything about dragons and clutching eggs,
although she was trying to read as much from the archives as she could
to prepare herself for Panitath's Hatching, "What would you like me to
do, ma'am, while you are required to rest?"

"I'm glad you asked," Cyradis smiled. "First the clutching. Panitath
will let Loseth and N'vanik in, maybe K'deren. But it's going to take
hours so once it starts I'll need you to make sure refreshments keep
coming. it's gets hot in there. We can go into more detail when it
comes to the hatching but Saibra can give you guidance there as well."

Saibra shot Chaysea a wink, "We won't let the Weyrleaders dry out."

Chaysea smiled, taking notes on the paper she had brought, "Okay, I
can cover that. What about the Candidates? Does Panitath normally let
them in the days after she has clutched?" From what she had read, each
gold at their own preferences.

She will allow them in once the eggs start to harden. But no sudden
movement or goofing off, and they have to show their respect with
proper etiquette." She knew Panitath was listening by the loud sniff
from the ledge. She gave Saibra an 'I told you so,' kind of face and a
grin.

A grin flashed across Saibra's face, "The Weyrlingmaster will help
with that as well so you won't be alone." She assured Chaysea, and
then she turned her own blue eyes back to Cyradis, "And what about me?
Is there anything else you need me to do?"

"Actually," Cyradis leaned back in her chair. "I was thinking that you
could assign someone who could be like a personal assistant. Saibra
can handle Weyr business. Though I would like input on the important
decisions. You can run the lower caverns and I just need a person to
look after me on a regular basis. K'deren can't with his position so
I'm going to be here by myself a lot."

Chaysea nodded taking down notes, "I will start looking then and let
you know when I have found someone." It was almost like having an
attendant or a lady-in-waiting, the qualities of which Chaysea knew
that she could spot.

"Thank you," she smiled at her new headwoman. "I think thats all for
now," she nodded at Chaysea. "Saibra, I have something else for you if
you would stay a moment."

Chaysea nodded to both women and swept from the room, closing the door
behind her with a soft click. Saibra turned her eyes back to her
Weywoman, wondering what bit of business Cyradis wanted to discuss
privately.

"I have something you need to see," she said and pushed a letter
across toward Saibra.

Saibra scanned the contents of the letter quickly and then looked back
up at Cyradis, "A new Weyr in the North, huh? I hope this isn't your
way of telling me that you plan on leaving after you have your baby."
She grinned teasingly.

"No, of course not," she smiled. "My life is here now. But you could
go." She leveled a serious gaze at the other woman. "You are ready you
know. You could be a Weyrwoman. How soon do you think Chioneth is
going up?"

"I am thinking a month, maybe less, maybe more until she rises again.
You never know though." Saibra's tone was more serious, "The offer
does not appeal to me. You are on bed rest, your dragon is heavy with
eggs, and Meledei not yet experienced enough to take over the Wing. I
could never leave Dolphin Cove like that." She crossed one leg over
the other, "Besides," she smiled, "I promised N'vanik I would not
become apart of the revolving door of goldriders that have come
through Dolphin Cove."

"That's what I thought you'd say. We need to talk to N'vanik."
