Saibra's duties had certainly increased since Cyradis' pregnancy, but
tonight was one duty that she did not mind at all. She would be
attending the River Bluff Hatching in Cyradis' place, and
accompanying her would be her favorite bronzerider, by far, at Dolphin
Cove.
It was never polite to upstage what the goldrider might be wearing who
was attached to the dam of the clutch, but Saibra's wardrobe was still
far nicer than what she wore on a daily basis. The dress that she wore
was a deep azure, the primary color for Dolphin Cove, and with her
black hair, she truly represented the Weyr.
She heard the door to her weyr open and she smiled as she turned and
saw R'enh coming in, "Good evenin' handsome."
His eyes crinkled as he came in dressed in his gather best. "My Lady,
You look lovely," he said bending over her hand. Then he picked it up
over her head. "Let me see the whole thing," he added and began to
twirl her.
Saibra gave R'enh a three-sixty view of the dress, which was cut low
in the back, plunging to showcase a smooth expanse of tanned back,
"Saidrene had to help tie it in the back. You might have to help me
take it off." She grinned and winked.
"I think I can handle that," he smiled. "And help you dress again." He
held out his hand again. He looked around and spotted her heavy cloak
on a chair nearby. Letting go he picked it up and held it out for her
to step into.
Saibra smiled as she reached up and adjusted the clasp on the front of
the cloak, "A true gentleman." She said as they walked out to the
ledges where Mnoranth and Chioneth waited. The gold enjoyed getting
out to see more of her golden sisters, and welcomed the climate change
that would be between Dolphin Cove and River Bluff.
"I can play the part on occasion," he grinned. "Shall we," he asked
and cocked his elbow to escort her out to the waiting dragons. Soon
they were mounted and Mnoranth took the lead to send them to the
familiar Weyr. The skies above River Bluff were beautiful but crowded
but all made way for the gold and her escort.
Chioneth crooned an elegant greeting to those dragons nearby, and sent
her congratulations to the sire and dam of the clutch. It was Saibra's
first time visiting River Bluff, and she looked at it with curiosity as
she descended from Chioneth's golden neckridge, and once again took
R'enh's arm, "It is beautiful here."
Mnoranth bugled his greeting challenge to all the Weyr and then a
special greeting to his one time mate Orlaith. R'enh had, of course,
jumped down immediately to trot over to Chioneth's side and help
Saibra down as was his duty as her escort today. If there was one
thing his mentor had drummed into him about escort 'duty,' it was that
the only woman he should pay attention to on that day was the one he
was escorting. "It is," he agreed and led her into the shadowy opening
of the Hatching Grounds. "But it can be very hot in the summer." He
knew these stands, having come to more than one Hatching here and
waved to some acquaintances. He didn't see Rhosyn and K'sedel as yet
so he led Saibra to the section reserved for visiting dignitaries.
Saibra looked with interest on the gathering of people as she moved
beside R'enh. She was glad, again, that it was the Weyrsecond who
had come with her to River Bluff, she didn't think she would have
wanted anyone else there with her. "Hotter than Dolphin Cove?" she
asked as they moved into a pair of seats that overlooked the Hatching
Sands.
"It can be," he nodded as he slid into his seat next to her. "I'll
introduce you to Rhosyn at the feast."
"I have met her, remember when she came to Dolphin Cove during the
gold flight that led to this very Hatching? I met her with you in the
Dining Caverns. She was quite possessive over you and N'vanik, I
didn't stay and chat long." Saibra chuckled softly as she spoke. She
didn't spare time for possessive people. She had far more fun sharing.
"Oh right," he nodded remembering the incident. "Well, she's a
little... different." Not that that was always a bad thing. "We did win
one of her flights awhile back." It went without saying that had been
before she was a Senior Weyrwoman. "And she's in love with N'vanik,"
he chuckled. Just then the humming changed and the candidates appeared.
Saibra shook her head, "I think every woman at the Weyr is in love
with N'vanik, or having his baby." The Weyrwoman's Second leaned
forward in her seat a bit, smiling as the Candidates filed out onto
the Sands. "Poor Talryne," she added as an after thought.
"Well except for Cyradis," he smirked. "They had a very bad start. And
all that stuff doesn't really affect how he feels about Talryne. Their
relationship is... deep."
"I wasn't commenting on N'vanik's feelings for Talryne. They seem to
make it work, only I would imagine it is not easy watching the person
you love have babies with other women."
It had torn Meledei and T'nom apart, but Talryne seemed very level
headed to Saibra and a good fit for their dashing Weyrleader.
"Oh look! The first dragonet!" Saibra's face lit with a smile.
