Having just come from lunch with D'hol, where she felt as if they had finally made some progress towards getting back to normal, Jeyme headed toward the Weyrleader's weyr. It was time to tell him that she was pregnant. Oddly enough she was less nervous about telling the
Weyrleader than she had been her own weyrmate. She had Quinneth ask Loseth if it was okay for her to drop by.

Knocking on his door she mentally rehearsed what she was going to say.

N'vanik answered the door. "Hey Jeyme. Is everything alright?"

"Kind of." She said as she stepped into his weyr with him.

"Have a seat." He gestured toward the seating area. If D'hol was being
a jerk to her, he was going to beat some sense into that man.

Talryne nodded to her from a chair on the far side. "Hi, Jeyme. If you
need privacy, I can go."

Jeyme smiled when she saw her friend, "Please stay Tal." She flashed a
smile as she took a seat on their couch. This affected her too, she
supposed.

"So what's going on?" N'vanik asked.

"I found out a couple of days ago that I am pregnant. Because of the
flight there's a possibility that it could be yours." She got straight
to the point, "I felt like you deserved to know." Jeyme glanced
between N'vanik and Talryne as she spoke.

He really wished he'd sat down before asking her. N'vanik dropped into
the closest chair. "Oh." He cast a guilty look at Tal. "Um,
congratulations. It's a good thing, right?" A sudden chill when
through him at the thought that Jeyme might not want to keep it. But
no, she'd lost her last baby.

Talryne bit her bottom lip. Another one? She thought of his face when
he talked about Nisheyl, the glowing love and pride. And the hurt that
she was so far away. Now he had a possible child right here at Dolphin
Cove. Other women giving him what he wanted.

Jeyme hated the awkward tension in the room, it wasn't as if she would
have chosen this situation after all, "Yes, it is a good thing, but,"
and here came the hesitant part for Jeyme, "D'hol wants to claim the
child solely as his and, huh, he doesn't want you to have any part of
it." In her opinion, Jeyme would not have minded N'vanik being a part
of the child's life, she would have even liked Talryne to be a part
too, but D'hol had made the decision and this time she had no choice
but to obey.

Talryne's nervousness grew as she watched his expression change.

N'vanik's eyes narrowed. "Well, that's too bad. If it might be mine,
then I'm going to make sure the child knows it." Hesitation fell away
and possessive anger heated him instead. "He can throw a fit if he
likes, but I outrank him. He won't keep the baby away from me."

"I tried to talk to him about it. I asked him what he expected me to
do if you wanted a part of the pregnancy or baby. He was adamant that
he would not share this with anyone, especially not you. I would love
for you to be a part of this N'vanik but I just... Can't be on your
side. I basically had to promise D'hol to support him on this
decision." Jeyme had been unsure of what reaction N'vanik would have
and was a little surprised that he wanted to be apart of the baby.

"He can't _bully_ you into keeping my child from me." He leaned
forward in the chair.

"It's not her fault," Talryne said gently. She didn't think N'vanik
was blaming her at all, but she wanted him to know what his reaction
looked like.

Jeyme didn't flinch at N'vanik's reaction, "It's not bullying N'vanik.
He's my weyrmate and he has asked me to support him so I am. You've
got to see this from D'hol's point of view. You've had his weyrmate,
you've got the Weyrleadership, and now you might have the child that
should rightfully be his."

"It's a weyr, Jeyme. Flights happen. I wasn't deliberately trying to
take anything away from him." N'vanik took a breath. "I didn't know
about my first kid until she was fourteen. She thought I abandoned
her. I never want to go through that again."

"You will have to talk with D'hol about, N'vanik. I just... I can't go
against him on this. I know as the mother it's my choice, but it's
just not that simple this time." It ate at Jeyme to do this to
N'vanik, maybe she shouldn't have told him at all.

"Oh, you can bet I'll talk to him," he growled.

Talryne wanted to sink into the chair until she disappeared, but she
also knew how much this meant to him. And poor Jeyme! "I'm sure
everything will work out." It was more of a hope, because she didn't
want to know what would happen if D'hol got his way.
