Description: K'lvin saves Bahji from the hands of a mating flight loser, but can he save her from himself?
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 5, day 22 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: E'rae
After the discussion with E'rae, Bahji felt the need to get out, stretch her legs and just walk. She had to get out of her rooms and take in some sun; taking Burst with her to spy the ground ahead, Bahji meandered the Weyr grounds. She wasn't thinking of anything in particular, and the little bronze flit kept his own attention on the ground ahead, watching for any obstacles that might come into her path. With that guidance and having gotten to know the weyr in the past near Turn of living there, she didn't feel the need to worry too much about a destination.
It was a chirp from her flit that first caught her attention as she wandered and an image of a twined green in the sky came to her. "Burst..." She stopped, finally noticing the eager murmur of voices nearby. "Where are we?" The bronze sent an image of the feeding grounds, but then all too familiar mating cots to their right. Bahji's eyes widened. Had she in her absent minded walk wandered right back to where one of her problems started? Eager voices grew louder, and were more close than she realized.
Lust glazed eyes spotted Bahji as the bluerider stumbled from the flight room. Lost? How had he lost? The lust from the flight burned through his blood and was further incite by the sight of the young woman standing outside the flight weyr. He loved it when lovely ladies waited outside to console the losers, "Hey there gorgeous." He slid his arms around her waist, pinning her against him.
For a moment, she was tempted. Just one moment. But then, remembering the feelings of shame that had followed what she had done, Bahji simply reacted. Her hand flew, slapping the man across the cheek and shoving against his chest. Burst let out a flit-sized bellow and flew at the man, his wings slapping at the bluerider's face with indignation.
"Sweetheart likes it rough?" The man chuckled, clearly not dissuaded.
"Sweetheart is with me." Another voice growled causing the immediate release of Bahji from the bluerider's arms. The voice belonged to K'lvin, who had the other dragonrider hoisted up by the back of his collar. "Get out of here." He gave the man a shove in the opposite direction.
K'lvin himself was one of the "losers" from the flight, and every nerve ending in his body was aflame. The sight of Bahji did stir all things male within the bronzerider, but Turns of mating flights gave K'lvin the will to control himself, "Miss Bahji, what are you doing here?" He asked, his hand gentle as it touched her elbow, although his voice was uncharacteristically brusque.
Pale, trembling and surprised by both the sudden assault on her person and the rescue by a familiar voice, Bahji took a step back, her hands clutching at her chest. Burst followed the bluerider, chasing at him until he was a sufficient distance away before blinking back to Bahji. He landed on her shoulder, chittering his anger before turning red whirling eyes to K'lvin. Bahji grabbed the flit before he could make up his mind to run that man off too and quickly stroked him, sending soothing thoughts to the bronze.
Distracted long enough to organize her thoughts, she exhaled. "I didn't mean to be here. I was just taking a walk." She licked her lips. "Thank you, K'lvin." She stopped and then closed her eyes. "You were in the flight too, weren't you?"
"I was." K'lvin confirmed, seeming to notice things about Bahji that he had never noticed before like the glint of her hair in the sunlight or the graceful curve of her neck. "Come on, let's get away from here before you run into anyone else." Her reached out and placed her hand on the crook of his elbow.
She started as he grabbed her hand and placed it upon his arm. "Oh, K'lvin...you don't need to take me anywhere." She tried giving a smile, but still rattled, it was difficult. "You can stay here and um...take care of your concerns. I can make it back."
K'lvin's smile was tense, "Right now my concern is seeing you safely to your destination." He gave her hand a warm pat. The emotions of the flight still coursed through his veins, but he was able to control it better than the young bluerider had.
She could hear the tension in his voice and her determination wavered, but he seemed sure of himself. "Alright." She gripped his arm firmly. "I'm sorry, K'lvin. I know it must be difficult."
"It's alright, Bahji, I am fine. What brought you out by the flight weyr?" He asked as they walked, the conversation helping to keep his raging hormones in check.
She tried to keep her touch light on him as they walked, but there was still a subtle tension between them. "I honestly was just taking a walk. Burst was paying more attention than I was. I needed to get out and stretch my legs." She turned her head towards him. "I didn't mean to go to the flight area again, I just..my mind was elsewhere." She was sorry that she had interrupted the finale of the flight. If it hadn't been for her, as a bronzerider, he'd probably be being taken care of by one of the several women that she knew would have been waiting. " I am sorry."
K'lvin's chuckle was warm, "It's okay, Bahji, really." He hadn't necessarily been looking for a woman after the flight anyway. It did strike him that Bahji said the word "again" implying that she had been to the flight weyrs before, "You've been to the flight Weyrs before?"
A flush heightened her cheeks and she cleared her throat. "Once." She clammed up after that, not elaborating.
Sensing that it wasn't an open topic, K'lvin instead changed subjects, "So tell me about this bronze fellow here on your shoulder. He seems very protective of you."
Relieved that he hadn't pried, Bahji was far more comfortable talking about Burst and relaxed. "This is Burst." He stroked the little bronze, who still eyed K'lvin with open suspicion. "He's young, but he acts as my eyes most of the time. He lets me know if I'm about to run into something, or am getting to close to something he thinks is dangerous." She ran her hand over the soft hide and Burst responded with a loving nuzzle. "He's been protective ever since..." She paused. "Ever since I had a bad fall."
"A fall huh? What happened?" K'lvin asked as they entered the Weyrbowl. His brain felt foggy and it was hard to concentrate on the conversation but he was managing, perhaps just not as smoothly as was usual.
"I fell down the stairs. It was pretty bad." She didn't elaborate further and cleared her throat, stopping in her tracks. "You're just making conversation, aren't you? I can tell by the sound of your voice. " Her brow furrowed. "Burst, where are we?" The bronze sent a mental image and Bahji tilted her head, orienting herself. She grabbed K'lvin's arm and tugged him. "Come this way."
The bronzerider frowned, although his feet seemed to follow Bahji's lead automatically, "Where are we going?" He asked with a furrowed brow.
"You'll see. It's not that far." She kept walking until she came to the crafters' barracks, found her hallway and counted the steps to her door. She stopped in front of it and took a long breath, her hand still on his arm. She spoke softly, as though to herself." I'm of the Weyr now. And there's no shame in it." She turned to him and lifted her chin and spoke to him. "You stopped someone I didn't want from taking me." She carefully laid a hand on his chest and searched upward with delicate fingers to his face, finding his mouth and touching it. "You don't have to stop yourself....if you don't want to."
K'lvin felt floored, his body going from shock to lust so quickly he nearly felt dizzy. With Bahji's gentle touch on him it was as if he was being transported back into the mating flight, only this time he was the winner. **Careful, K'lvin, she's young and has had a bad experience.** A little voice cautioned him in his head. "Bahji, you don't have to..."
Her face was a mirror for her thoughts. There was frustration before she responded, "I know that." She grabbed his face and pulled him down to press his mouth against hers. She missed, her lips finding his mouth's corner, but she moved just as quickly to place them correctly, her hand reaching behind her to search for the door knob. She found it, twisted it and opened her door.
K'lvin was a good man, chivalrous even, but with mating flight lust already coursing through his veins, coupled with Bahji's physical assault, he just couldn't find the will to push away the sweet bundle of woman in his arms. Shards, he didn't want to!
Letting go of his reservations, K'lvin wrapped one arm around Bahji's waist and easily hoisted her up against him, never breaking the kiss as he stepped into her weyr, shut the door with his free hand, and then carried her to her bed. Laying her down he quickly followed, cupping her face between his hands to kiss her properly.
He felt different, smelled different, tasted different than E'rae, but it wasn't bad, she decided. Far from it! It was new and exciting and...shards he could kiss. What ever doubts she may have had flew away in the face of the passion that stirred.
Even despite the rush of passion K'lvin felt, he was still determined to do a thorough job in making love to Bahji. She would not regret letting him into her bed. His hands began working on the buttons of her blouse while his lips moved to her neck.
Soft mews emerged from her throat, her hands sliding through K'lvin's hair and down to his neck. Her fingers were her eyes as she explored the skin there, then grabbed his shirt and pulled it upwards, trying to tug it off of him. The moment her hands encountered the bare skin of his back, she gave a soft sigh and squirmed against him. The shame that she had felt from the last time she'd shared her bed disappeared. How could there be anything wrong about this? It felt wonderful, she felt free and confident. She hadn't done anything wrong. She was wanted and desired and she was going to grab that with both hands and fly with it.
