"You're stuck with me again," N'vanik muttered, half-awake.
"mmhmm," she hummed and snuggled closer in the furs. Cyradis wasn't
awake really herself.
"Disappointed?" he asked, opening his eyes.
Cyradis yawned and stretched then moved her legs tentatively. "No," she
said. "You're a good leader. Just a little rough."
"In more ways than one?" he teased, nudging a leg against hers. He was
a little hurt. Things were finally getting comfortable between them
and her gold tries to hand the leadership to someone else. But
relationships were complicated and there wasn't anything romantic
between them. The way she'd watched over D'hol in the infirmary gave a
lot of weight to the rumors. Her feelings for D'hol might have
influenced Panitath, or maybe the gold herself was fond of Yumath.
Cyradis chuckled. "Yes, I'm a little woman and you threw me around
like a childs doll." She shook her head and elbowed him in the ribs.
"That's one sneaky Loseth," she smiled. She was happy with what had
happened. She didn't think Dolphin Cove was ready for D'hol as
Weyrleader. It still needed continuity especially with Qorri leaving
for spurious reasons. She was happy with the result of the flight and
N'vanik's continued leadership.
"He needed to be sneaky. He might need to work on his flirting with
Panitath." He arched an eyebrow. "Or I need to start flirting with
you." His fingers brushed her hip.
She turned on her side toward him with a smile. N'vanik was a very
good looking man and a little bonding might do some good for their
relationship. "Flirting isn't a bad thing," she said. Besides, what
happened in the flight room stayed in the flight room
His hand slid along her skin, palm coming to rest gently on her
abdomen. "I didn't hurt the little one, did I?"
"No I don't think so," she said, "Can't say the same thing for my
mouth though." She felt her lips that she knew were reddened and
swollen.
He lifted a hand to gently trace her lips. "Loseth, or me, or both of
us ... we were feeling extra possessive." A slow smile spread across
his face as the dragonlust stirred. "I could make it up to you."
"Could you now," she smiled. The flight had been high and the fall
incredible. Best of all she wouldn't have to push him away later with
avowals of her love for K'deren. This was just a cementing of their
bond as Weyrleaders. That, with the dragonlust was enough and she
curled into his arms.
N'vanik had noticed her looks before but never really let himself
appreciate her beauty. He'd been bitter, feeling abandoned, and had
treated her badly for something that wasn't her fault. She showed no
signs of leaving. She had a weyrmate, a baby on the way, and Loseth
had just flown her Queen again. He kissed her along her neck, down to
her collar bone. Such a little thing, but Cyradis was a strong woman.
That was another thing he hadn't appreciated. "I'm not rough all the
time." His lips moved across her breasts, down over the curve of her
stomach, and slipped lower.
Shards she loved it when a man kissed her neck. "Oh good," she sighed
and let her own hands move though his hair and across his
shoulders. She'd never really contemplated this with N'vanik but he was
doing quite well at being more gentle, and he was talented too.
"oooh," she said and sucked in a breath when he came across a
particularly sensitive spot.
For long moments he explored her with lips, tongue and clever fingers.
Then N'vanik moved atop her and once again claimed his Weyrwoman.

Her breathing came in gasps as the last of the dragonlust faded and
she collapsed against the pillows. "Oh my," she breathed. N'vanik was
nothing if not thorough and she began to see what Rhosyn saw in the
big bronzerider. She curled into his shoulder for a few moments of
afterglow.
Ultimately though, she was in love with her weyrmate and even as
athletically wonderful as their flight had been there was nothing that
could compare to making love with the person who owned your heart.
When she shifted away N'vanik sighed. "I suppose it's time to go. Back
to work and all that." He sat up and started looking for his clothes.
"I think D'hol might kill me," he said with an amused snort.
"Yes," she chuckled as she too reached for her dress. "He isn't going
to be a happy man, but then what else is new. But, Loseth won and
Panitath is very happy with him right now." There wasn't a trace of
disappointment that Yumath hadn't claimed her when she chose him. Oh
for the simple emotions of a dragon.
"Congratulations Weyrleader," she smiled after pulling her dress over
her head. "That was a very nice flight."
"Yes it was." N'vanik returned the smile. "There should be a nice big
clutch." Loseth was dozing next to his mate, radiating smug
satisfaction.
"I hope so," she said. "I'm taking the rest of the afternoon off to
soak. I'll see you in the council chambers," she smiled as she brushed
past him. That dimple was entirely too tempting she needed just a
little distance to recover her sanity.
